Owner Pose
Sebastian Shaw It's five o'clock on a...Wednesday. The regular crowd hasn't shuffled in, just yet, though the Straight Lace is starting to get busy. There are a few customers here and there at tables, enjoying an early dinner. Because of this, the staff is a little distracted. They want to be ready for the rush when it happens.

Standing near the hostess' station is an older man, looking over a set of books. For those in the know, they'll recognize him as Sebastian Shaw, the proprietor of the business. But if you're not...well he's a guy looking at the reservation book. He does display some form of authority as he waves over the nearest hostess and murmurs, "Make sure the Senator is seated in the back booth tonight, I don't think his wife is in town and he will have some...company," to the woman, "And put Ms. Daniels towards the front of the house. She has a certain charm that tends to bring in a few more clients if we are a little slow."
Paige Guthrie Paige Guthrie is moving quickly. She might as well, having already graduated high school. The papers are in for Empire State. But now it's a question of paying for it. And so, she starts looking at job options, and that brings the girl into a steakhouse. She's not DRESSED for a steakhouse: Wearing a brand-new Empire State t-shirt and a flared red skirt, with some cute black boots.

"Excuse me," she comes up to the hostess's station to say. "I've read that you're hiring? Basic help in the kitchen, even pan washing?"
Sebastian Shaw It would seem Shaw is not used to being interrupted. He looks up slowly from the reservation book. The hostess he had been talking to's eyes flick towards Paige and for a moment there's a flash of...eagerness? Hesitation? Pity? that crosses her features, before she goes back to studying the book, and making the changes requested.

"Off to a good start." Shaw replies, before his eyes obviously -- even for a girl who might get checked out more than occasionally this feels like an obvious looking over -- glide up and down her figure. He finally lets them settle on her gaze and he says as a smile starts to slowly creep over his features, "Kitchen help? For as stunning a woman as yourself? No. You will be much more useful in the front of the house. Come with me would you?" he asks, holding out an arm to guide her around the hostess station, and motioning toward the back of the steakhouse.
Paige Guthrie Paige Guthrie laughs, and fiddles with her ponytail a bit. "Alright? But if you mean like, waitress, I've never done anything like that before. I've cooked and washed on the farm, and at a boarding school. But taking orders and all that? I woudlnt' know where to start."

But with a laugh,s he places her hand to Shaw's arm to be led.
Sebastian Shaw "A boarding school? So I am sure you can write, can't you?" Shaw asks, grinning at the girl's innocent reply. He walks her through the door to the kitchen, and then tugs her slightly to the side so that she can stand out of the way of the work going on, and converse with him. His gaze moves from her to the people working and back to her as they converse.

"Serving is easy enough, and we train you. I'll put it bluntly: you're an attractive girl who does not seem terribly timid. You will likely do very well on tips here if you are competent at your job. Cooking here requires some extensive education, and while dishwashing and bussing are low skill endeavors I tend to find that...well..." And he makes a bit of a face, "The kitchen is perhaps not the most enlightened place on earth, if you get my meaning."
Paige Guthrie Paige Guthrie looks him over now. Her hands go to her hips, shifted a bit. Watching him as he takes charge of the situation, and explains everything. "Well, I'll try it. If you can handle someone who doesn't know anything about this. I don't want to embarrass you and just get fired one night in." She laughs. "And I have brothers. I know how the world works. But if you're sure...."
Sebastian Shaw "You won't be fired a night in. I do not believe in hiring someone only to see them fired...unless they are a spectacularly annoying type of person." Shaw replies smoothly. He chuckles at the comment about the brothers bit, "I do not think they will be needed. The Hellfire Club isn't...as wild as some people make it out to be. We are a social club that has a certain amount of respectability to uphold. It wouldn't do to have our members doing something untoward to one of our hostesses and causing a scene."

The man then asks, "How old are you? What sort of references do you have? Have you worked in a restaurant at all or just at the kitchen at your boarding school?" These seem to be the professional questions a manager should ask of a prospective hire.
Paige Guthrie Paige Guthrie blinks. "Hellfire Club?" she says. Then looking around. "I dind't realize... this is part of that?" She laughs softly. "I'm 18. Not sure I have references. This would be my first job since working on the farm before I went to school. I'm starting at Empire State as soon as I can. Name's Paige. How do you do?" She then puts her hand out.
Sebastian Shaw "Yes. This is part of the Hellfire Club. The building you are in, is the Hellfire Club proper. This restaurant is just one of our many offerings to our members." Shaw explains, seeming a little amused at Paige's confusion. He adds, "Perhaps if you enjoy the job you'll want to move to one of our other establishments for a change of pace, but since this seems to be your first real restaurant job, it is probably best to start here."

He then looks down at the offered hand, and takes it, bowing just a little before he lifts it to his lips to press a light kiss against, "Sebastian Shaw, it is a pleasure to meet you Ms. Paige," he replies smoothly, before he motions to the nearby office, "Perhaps we should step in here," he suggests, as the kitchen starts to pick up with orders coming in faster.
Paige Guthrie Paige Guthrie smiles, a bit surprised at the kiss. She shifts a bit, clearly having a lot to consider at once. Biting her lip. "Alright, if you're sure you're okay with me not knowing what I'm doing. I'll give it a shot! I Do need to pay for college, after all. When you have as many siblings as I do, thank you so much Mr. Shaw!."
