Morrigan MacIntyre One thing that is for certain, Sam Wilson didn't get to come to his counseling job when he was away, but his office had not been closed and it was still being cleaned regularly by the cleaning staff. It's Summer break for the High Schoolers but there are still on campus residents, but all of them are either out or at dinner given the time.

But there is one person who is ever the worker bee and is working on things into the evening on this Monday. Morrigan's currently in her office going through filing that she hasn't done in about a week. She's dressed just as she normally is for work, a black pencil skirt, black heels and a crisp white dress shirt. Her curly hair is half up and half down given the bun she put it up in is getting loose from the day. Her door is open and there is a rather huge dog that is asleep off to the side of her desk. He is wearing that amusing 'SERVICE DOG' vest though.

Sam's probably heard through the grapevine that Happy Harbor High School is no longer a SHIELD project, but they are still on good terms and back the school.
Sam Wilson One second, the doorway is empty. A high school in summer is not a busy place. The sounds and smells and sights are all different. Over his shoulder hangs a small backpack, the sort of thing someone brings for a day hiking trip. His other hand holds a bottle of water. And maybe that's a good thing, because it seems like he wouldn't know what exactly to do with his hands.

Large, built, imposing -- especially for Just a Normal Guy -- Sam Wilson fills her doorway silently, shades pushed up to cover his eyes. And when he talks, it's with quiet familiarity, as if they had just chatted 5 minutes ago. "I went by to check and see if my office had been given away. Guess I still have a job. Hey there, Mo."
Morrigan MacIntyre Of all the voices that Morrigan was thinking she might hear today, Sam was not on the list. She stops in the middle of stuffing a file into the cabinet and the woman gives a look over her shoulder just to make sure that he is standing there and she's not imagining things. The smile that she gives is bright and welcoming though and she is relaxed in her stance as she settles the files on top of the cabinet.

"You'll always have a job here, Sam. I figured you were off galavanting around and being all heroic and that eventually you'd want some downtime and listening to High Schoolers is everyones dream job, right?" she teases him in a gentle way.

Riordan looks up and between the two and since there is no hostility the Herald puts his head back down and returns to snoozing.

Morrigan however takes a few steps closer, "Would you like to sit and talk or are you just passing by to check in on the office and job?" she asks him with a quirk of her brow.
Sam Wilson Sam Wilson takes a long sip of his water, the better to both hydrate, and play for time as he considers an answer. His face, neutral and hard to read, quirks into a smile after he swallows. He seems to truly consider that answer, but it's hard to read him. The sunglasses. Maybe they aren't there by accident.

Finally, he seems to settle on something, because he speaks. "I guess if I'm being honest, I could have called if I was /just/ worried about the job." He shakes his head, and then shrugs his broad shoulders. "I wanted to see how you were. Maybe....catch up, a little?"
Morrigan MacIntyre Morrigan moves towards the desk and decides to lean against it as she watches him speak. She gaze assessing him. Mainly she was checking to see if he was physically alright. Any new bumps or bruises. Because she worried. Plus she spent so much energy in 2021 healing him and Bucky!

Her expression softens and her eyes look to his, "Well, I'm alive. You missed that whole me dying fiasco last year." the Irish woman laughs at that. "But things are...quiet. We had a rough year here. And I'd love to catch up. Come and have a seat, you aren't getting any taller in the doorway." she motions him in.
Sam Wilson Sam Wilson chuckles, the sound low and vague....though, something in what she said seems to bother the man. He finishes the remainder of his water and he streps through the doorway, crushing the plastic bottle into a tiny little disk absently, and asks, "You sure you don't just want me to sit down so I don't loom over you?"

Still...he eases into one of the chairs on the far side of the desk, his eyes not visible behind the shades. Still...there is the sense that he's looking her over, up and down. Finally, the shades come off, and he is merely looking at her face. "You look good for someone you say was dead. Uh. Are you all right?"
Morrigan MacIntyre "We're the same height when I'm in heels, Sam." Morrigan points out with a wink to him. "I can take them off though if you feel like looming a little?" she grins. Then she straightens from the desk and then moves to go sit in her chair. She closes the laptop and scoots the files over as she leans forward a little.

It's easy to tell that all of her old scars are gone. The white hair that she got from when she saved Bucky after Logan's attack was also gone. Bright and shiny and new. "I got better." she muses to him. "SHIELD put in my folder that I died. It was a pain in the ass to get all of my stuff redone since I was dead for a month. I'm...okay. There are still after effects, but apparently there's a plan for everyone." she tells him. "Sometimes I lose my vision and Riordan or Benvy are about for guiding me." she explains. "Oh, you two have not met, Riordan, this is Sam Wilson I've told you about him. Sam, this is my herald, Riordan." she introduces them.

"Sup?" comes a voice from the large mass of fur.
Sam Wilson Sam Wilson uhs. His looks to the massive dog. Then back to the red-headed woman. Then the dog. Then there's a sigh. "I'm not sure if I just say hello, high five you, or try to do some kind of awkward fist bump with your paw. Hey there. I'm Sam. Pleased to meet you."

He looks back to the demi-god / attractive ginger. "I always wonder if people can truly appreciate how weird my life is." His eyes travel her face, look briefly to the alabaster streak, then his gaze settles on her eyes. "You look fantastic, actually. And at least you've had a more productive year than me." He blows out a breath, keeping his posture controlled, his back unyielding. "And you know I'm here to help, Mo. Whenever you need it."
Morrigan MacIntyre Morrigan shrugs when he looks back to her, "My new job comes with helpers." she chuckles to that. Rio shifts his weight and stands, giving a chuff to Sam, "Same. I'm going to go wander down and give the students puppy eyes and see who is silly enough to feed me. You two don't do anything silly." he states. Then he's trundling off.

Morrigan waits until he's out of the room, "He's so fluffy." she grins to Sam.

Then she gives a look back to the Avenger, "Thank you. Sadly when I regenerated it fixed all my former ailments and scars, so...sort of new and improved." she tells him. "We've had protests. Prom was ruined. Uusal year for Happy Harbor really." she muses to him. There is a softer smile, "I'm glad you're back. I really am." she admits. "I'd been checking in with Sarah. Since I willed some stuff to your nephews in the event of my death. She's still sort of bewildered by my leaving them my car." she chuckles. "But it's there for them to use and when they get older." she shrugs to that.

Then there's a moment to think on things, "Soooo...how's life been?" she asks him.
Sam Wilson Sam Wilson smiles back to her, then shakes his head as the animal passes out into the hallways. "Don't do anything silly? What exactly does he think we're going to do?"

Then his smile fades to something less bright, more warm. "I just got back from Delacroix two days ago. I was spending time with her and the kids. They asked when they could learn to drive. So thanks for that. I owe you." His tone is softly joking, with a hint of gentle reproach. But his heart doesn't seem to be into it.

As if sensing the awkward tension, he clears his throat. "I was stuck on a space station. We had two fatal test accidents in the past year. There was nothing to fight, because we were just...fighting space. You can't win that fight." And then he shrugs, vaguely. "But we moved the program forward. That's what matters."
Morrigan MacIntyre "I'm sure working for SHIELD and being an Avenger affords you a lot of weirdness, Sam." Morrigan muses to that. "And he probably thinks flying is silly. He likes his feet on the ground." she adds.

"Hey, I told Sarah I was going to leave it to them when I died. I wasn't expecting it to actually happen." she chuckles to that. "Plus they've got the remote control cars I sent them for Christmas and things." she tells him. "Aww, Uncle Sam not going to teach the boys to drive? Where is your sense of adventure?" she grins to that.

Then she shifts a bit in her chair and listens to what he's been doing, "That doesn't sound fun at all. And I'm sorry for the losses." she tells him quietly. "Moving a program is not the only thing that matters. Human lives matter as well." she points out gently.

She then realizes what time it is and there's a look back to him, "Have you had dinner?" she asks him.
Sam Wilson Sam Wilson seems to consider THAT question, and give it more weight than he otherwise would when asked by anyone else. "What if I told you I hadn't eaten, and that I was hungry?"

He frowns, maybe understanding how that sounded. "I.....just meant I hadn't eaten yet. Came from the gym to here." There is a long and deep inhalation though his nostrils. "And, yeah. I agree. Listen, it was tough. No one was shooting at us, but it was still dangerous and stressful. I guess I'm still re-adjusting. I'd love to have dinner with you."
Morrigan MacIntyre "Then I'd say that we should get you something to eat." Morrigan muses to that. "I'm always happy to cook or the diner near my house is still open, depends on what you are craving." she tells him as she starts to rise from her chair.

Then there is a laugh as she grabs her bag, "You're fine, Sam. Are you and Agent Barnes still gym buddies?" she asks him. Yes, she knew Bucky. There is a moment taken to walk to his chair and when he stands the woman does something that she didn't get to do yet, she reaches out and slides her arms around him to hug him, "You can take all the time to re-adjust, we're here for you." she tells him. "And good, lets go get food." she tells him with a soft laugh.
Sam Wilson Sam Wilson's eyes flash with humor. "Agent Barnes? Careful, if Bucky hears that, I'll never hear the end of it." Then she walks around the desk, to his chair, and he rises naturally to meet her. The hug seems to take him a little by surprise, but he returns it.

After a few moments, he slides away from her, head turned

After a few moments, he slides away from her, head turned in the ginger's direction. "The diner. I'm buying. I literally had nothing to spend money on for 8 months." He smiles to her, soft and amused. "Think of it as a chance to take advantage of me, for a while."
Morrigan MacIntyre When Morrigan talks about Bucky there is a little sadness there, "I...I don't call him Bucky. We aren't close." she states. "He doesn't even remember me." she shrugs to that. "Even though I saved him multiple times. Saved Cap. Just..." she breathes out. "Sorry, not something to ruin the moment with." she smiles to him.

She leaves the Bucky stuff there in the office, not taking it with them. She gives a laugh, "I'm not going to complain about you buying dinner...but I'm pretty set on money for...a while." she grins. "Maybe I could spoil you sometime." she points out. "Mm. Taking advantage of an Avenger sounds like a good way to get a surprise visit and talking to." she teases him. "Come on. We can talk on the walk over. Good thing about small towns is the walking score is amazing." she admits.
Sam Wilson Sam Wilson nods his head to her as he begins walking in step with her. "I won't tell if you don't."
