Peter Quill It's evening in New York City. Eight of the clock some might say. Peter is at a bar, the Long Night, perhaps hoping for a long night himself, as he is drinking alone at the bar. He has a half-filled pint in front of him, and he looks bored. He tugs out a small device and scrolls on it's screen for a minute, before he sighs quietly to himself and says, "I got here too early....always think it's Christmas people go crazy. No New Year's...." Yup, just another normal night for Quill.
Roxanne Spaulding No. She can't stay at her place, so that means she's wandering about the city, most certainly trying to remain aware of her surroundings. Looking somewhat weary, she heads into the bar, deciding to warm up with perhaps some hard liquor or just something light.

Beelining towards the bar, Miss Roxanne Spaulding, dressed in her black leather jacket, a simple light grey hoodie, and a pair of snug fitting jeans, looks at the bartender and raises a hand. "Um, an Old Fashioned please."
Peter Quill Peter Quill is Peter Quill and well a cute lady suddenly appearing next to him is going to get his gaze. He lets it linger on those jeans for a second, before he decides, "I got this," he says, sitting up a little, and motioning to Roxanne. He stands up from his seat, better than slouching and drinking on his own. Stand and chat with a pretty lady!
Roxanne Spaulding Glancing on over at the unfamiliar voice, she raises her brows and then bows her head in thanks. "Thank you." she tells Peter, hopping up onto one of the barstools to get a bit more comfortable.

"Roxie." she says, extending a hand out towards him.
Peter Quill "Peter," He replies, and then takes her hand and gives it a firm shake. He then asks, "What...uh, what brings you to this part of the city? Don't look like you're really from around here." It's Brooklyn...so...he's not ENTIRELY wrong. There are some real...individuals in the bar.
Roxanne Spaulding "I live in Lower East Side, but I was visiting a friend out here." Roxie says lying through her teeth, but at least it's believable. "Don't want to take that long ass train ride back to Manhattan yet." Because it is so long and the timing has to be right.
Peter Quill "Oh...well I hope it was a good visit at least," Peter says, tilting his head a little. "And...yeah...that train..." He TOTALLY knows about the Subway, absolutely. He doesn't think it's just a sandwich shop. No sir. He has a sip of his drink as he works on thinking up another line of attack, and well....why not: "Do you think there's aliens out there? Like, in space? I think about that sometimes."
Roxanne Spaulding Would a visit be good if it never happened? Sure, she'll say that it was a good one. "Yeah." Roxie says, now sipping upon her Old Fashioned as she lets out a brief 'huh' at the sudden left turn in the conversation.

"Isn't there a Martian in the Justice League?" she asks, snickering softly. "We already know there's aliens."
Peter Quill "Wait, what? Since when?" Peter asks, seeming completely caught off guard by this news. "We've.....what?" It seems its a bit of an act though, as after a moment or two he smiles sheepishly and says, "Yeah...I mean...I knew we know about aliens but...I couldn't think of anything smart to say to you. And you're real pretty. So, I went in the opposite direction. That sometimes works well for me."
Roxanne Spaulding The feigning of ignorance definitely surprises her as she shakes her head and snickers softly. At another sip of her old fashioned, Roxie looks him up and down. "Well thank you." What woman doesn't like being told they're pretty.

"So, it's you who aren't around here, huh." she asks.
Peter Quill "Uh, no. No I'm not really from around here. Missouri is where I grew up." Peter admits, "I've been out here a few times, but...it's still pretty new to me, New York City." Yes, NYC not Earth itself. "So...what do you do?" small talk seems to be something that he is not exceptional at, or maybe he's just out of his depth.
Roxanne Spaulding "Kansas City? St. Louis? Or some really small town?" Roxie asks now quite curious as she ahhhs and nods. "The city can be pretty overwhelming at times." she nods at that as she takes another sip of her drink. "And me? Odd jobs here and there. Sometimes I'm a bartender. Sometimes I'm a barista. Sometimes I'm something else entirely."
