James Barnes The team was assembled in less than half an hour when the word came in. This time reports of the missing came from a little logging town in the foothills of the same stretch of the Appalachian Mountains as Blackstone Hollow - Oakwood Hollow, they really need to try harder on the names of these places.

The time is somewhere between the start of the setting of the sun and the inevitable rise of the moon. Not the best time to be heading up a logging trail in the woods where people have been going missing, but after some brief intel-gathering in the town, this is about the time that 'strange noises' start coming from the woods.

Sure enough, just as daylight turns darker, it begins. Strange howling sounds, screeches (that sounds familiar), soft chittering and chufffing that's almost more ominous than the others.

With the group assembled at the beginning of the only clear path up into the heavily forested areas, Steve claps Bucky on the shoulder and, in typical Steve Rogers fashion, says, "We're going to find them, Buck and we'll put a stop to all of this, I promise." Followed by, "I'll scout ahead, keep your comms on."

Then he's disappearing into the surrounding trees, staying off the main path.

Bucky? He looks a dangerous combination of lost, angry and angrier. He probably shouldn't even be here. He's way too close. That also means that his head isn't exactly right for making plans. His plan would be to throw all caution to the wind and say 'fuck it'.

"Well, let's get to it," he nearly growls out before attempting to just walk blind into those creepy woods, in the dark.
Natasha Romanova Natasha agrees on one point. Bucky shouldn't be here. He's too close to this, it's too personal. He's going to act without thinking of the consequences, and rash decisions often lead to loathing later. But she also knows there's no way he'd let them stop him from going. No way to argue him out of this, leave him behind, or make him stay. No matter the circumstances, he would be there. He's just as stubborn as Steve, in his own ways. THe things one does for family. Those that care. Those they love.

Something Natasha does not have, perhaps has never had. THe way her life has gone has taken those parts of her and as if with a scalpel cut them out deftly, leaving the rest of her core intact. But she can understand it on a mental, an intellectual, a logical level. The heart does not lend itself to rationality.

Something she's abused many a time.

But here they are with Bucky and going searching. Natasha goes to slide up a set of night vision goggles to try and keep an optic out for signs of movement and divergent heat patterns. She also has an ICER, several sonic and shrieker grenades, nets.. Hopefully enough if they come upon victims to incapacitate them.
Sara Pezzini It had taken some time, but at long last Sara had convinced Witchblade to stop detroying the comm-units. He didn't believe that she required help from anyone, after all he was there, but she finally made it clear that she needed to hear if /they/ needed help.

Arriving to the given coordinated already armored up (or what Witchblade considered armored up when there was no obvious threat), she offered a nod to each already present. <<Witchblade on site,>> she announced over the comms, then turned her attention to Bucky.

"We got this Barnes," she offers softly, giving his shoulder a light clap before stepping away to give him his space.

<<"I'm going to go up and stay right at the tree tops. Give me a signal if you need back up, other wise I'm going to look for them in the sky.>> Once she finishes speaking, she leaps into the air and is in flight, for now remaining at the height of the trees, but near where everyone was gathering.
Shuri Shuri is along for the ride on this particular mission, having spent the better part of two days working on a special piece of tech that has not yet been field tested. Under Bucky's request, and some samples provided by the Avengers, the hand held device looks an awful lot like a tricorder from Star Trek, but with a hologenic illumination that whirls from a small access point at the end of the small corder. She's in her vibranium suit. The hard light helmet remains in the neck weave, so her braids are twisted into a neat bun at the base of her skull.

Given the sheer number of heroes, she's even managed to seperate herself from Tachi'a, Dora Milaje, personal security to the Princess of Wakanda. As well as her gauntlets, with all the multitude of weaponry that such advanced fashion can provide. While her suit does not resemble the Panther, in and of itself, it is quite obviously inspired by it. With more gold than silver.

And no claws.

Keeping pace with Bucky, she casts a glance off after Steve following his words of support.

She, herself, offers none of that.

Only a hand on his arm, not in console, but in focusing the soldier. "I have calibrated the device to scan for any anomolies that show genetic similarities to the captive individuals, but I cannot possibly know if it will work until we have initiation of contact." She pats his arm and steps away, holding out the tricorder into the darkness, with the whirl of green light that immenates from it.
Nick Drago Hey sometimes 'fuck it' is the best plan. Just maybe not this time around.

But as the group is gathered upon the clear path on the hill, Mike reaches under his hood to make the proper adjustments to his communicator before he leaps forward, flipping about as his form shifts, becoming much more raveny. "I can cover above the treetops." The bird mentions, flying up as well.
Morrigan MacIntyre Morrigan felt like she could leave the research in the hands of others given the amount of things that were going on. The redhead is dressed down today. Jeans, t-shirt and boots along with a black leather jacket.

Since Bucky is about to blow and Steve is scouting ahead there is a moment to address the others, <<If you come in contact with one of the subjects please do not use excessive force, they are scared and hanging onto their humanity. We need to handle them as gently as we can.>. she states and then continues on with the group. Navigating the dark pretty great in sunglasses!
Clint Barton Of course Clint's along. How could he miss an opportunity to walk around the middle of nowhere, in the dark, with stories of people disappearing? Absolutely not. So, the archer has his own gear; arrows slung on his back, bow in hand, dressed for night maneuvers. He looks up at the rising mood, the dark sky with only the stars for light at the moment and chuffs a breath. "You had me at people disappearing," he'd said earlier when offering up his services. Now, perhaps he's regretting that call?

Nah.

"We got this, Barnes." The quiet, scowling figure of Bucky Barnes isn't one with whom he's very familiar. Sure, sure, he knows it's Steve's best bud from years ago, but it's.. strange. Still, Natasha likes him, and he trusts her like he trusts very few.
Alexander Aaron Alexander Aaron meandered at the back of the pack, he was dressed in an active uniform SHEILD had given him on a prior op, but otherwise looked as if he could just be out for a hike. The only thing separating him from a redshirt where his uncanny eyes, any direct contact with his gaze was typically unsettling, like looking into a window and realizing someone was looking back at you. He wasn't armed, but for some reason he was carrying a notepad with a pen slipped through the curly metal binding and a flashlight, he also had a ball of curiously strong string.

"Hum." he said when the howling started.
James Barnes The sounds would be bad enough without all the tension and rage that seems to be rolling off the Winter Soldier. He looks the same physically, but people that know him well enough would certainly see more 'Winter' than 'Bucky' in his expression, in the way he's carrying himself.

It doesn't take long, not even to the point that the gentle slope of the trail turns into a real climb, before all the noise in the forest ... changes. There's a pattern to it - a howl from over there that's followed by a screech from the other direction, a growling chuff of a sound from another. It's as if whatever monstrosities are making those noises are communicating with one another - worse, it sounds as if the team is surrounded.

Bucky holds up one hand, his left, in a fist - stop. Until this moment, he was unarmed - other than well, his arm. His own ICER, all dolled up into a sniper rifle with a thermal scope, now gets swung around at the ready.

Over the comms, Steve announces <Lots of activity in these trees, stay alert.> He apparently plans on staying out of sight until he's needed for more than just an advanced scout.
Natasha Romanova As they go along, Natasha moves to hold up a hand and speaks over the comm as she shifts to her night vision goggles as it gets dark enough. She switches to heat vision, and hten to UV to confirm. <<Multiple heat signatures detected.>> In the optics, they start to grow larger.

<<Correction, multiple heat signatures en route. Moving at high pace. Probably flying>> Seemingly going too fast as far as she could tell to be just running down the side of the mountain.

Her hand goes down to her side, drawing out her ICER.
Sara Pezzini From her vantage above, Sara hovers and watches the trees. She can see movement within them, the branches and thus the leaves moving, and then she catches sight of something moving quickly.

Focusing her attention where she saw the movement, blink and she would have missed it. <<They're moving in the tree, not on the ground. Alightly larger than human in shape and form, and they're insanely fast.>> She reports, beginning to descend in closer to where she saw the movement.

When the noise changes, she hovers again and listens. There was no way to understand them, but she was trying to get an idea how many there were and where they were located. Once she had an idea of that, she moves in closer to the trees in hopes of getting her eyes on one.
Shuri With a tap on a small console set into her left gauntlet, the hardlight helmet constructs around Shuri's head and face from the small projection nodules in her suits neckline. The front closes, with a retical slipping down over her right eye that feeds tactical data to a miniturized Heads Up. Blips from her scanning device, which prove a little illusive for all the trees that bare a great deal of similarities to the anomolies themselves. A field test under these conditions was not optimal, but for the sake of expediance, she'd opted for a less controlled environment for further evaluation of the success margins.

The sounds, however, are creepy.

A little too creepy, if anyone asks her. So it's probably good that they don't.

She's not her brother.. and while very little outright ''scares'' the Princess, this isn't very little. A deep breath calms her nerves, but she's still rolling a Komoyo ball between her begloved fingers. Ready to toss it, construct some terrible piece of destructive tech, and call this, all of this, a day.

The nuclear option, as it were.

Until Bucky brings up his fist, she pauses and crouches. Syncing the device, which she fixes to her suits breast plate, with her occular heads up. <"I hope this is not like American horror movies."> For whatever reason. The only thing keeping her from coming up with a, perfectly logical, reason to leave is the fact that she promised to help Bucky and there's at least four or five impressively capable soldiers with them.

This is fine.
Nick Drago As the bird makes his way above the treeline he bobs about taking note of movement amongst the trees. But what light there is is not that forgiving as to the 'what'. They are simply 'things'. Things that just keep to the tree line.

<< I see the movement below but they're not moving above the treeline yet. Nothing outright flying. Just gliding...>>
Frank Noble Frank Noble is confused by Necessary's directive not to put on a mask. Grenademan would be far more effective here and fighting off the urge to change takes a repeated act of will. Distracting.

Fine.

As Frank Noble, he is dressed in SHIELD issue kevlar armor with an ICER pistol he barely knows how to use and three super ICER prototype grenades modified from the SHIELD aresenal that he is (theoretically) developing for them, but its still weird. Like Shuri, he has a dohicky but its far from Wakandan' tech, far more narrowly constructed but still clever in its design, the Portable Mass Spectrometer could pick up and reveal to him even the slightest unusual chemicals in the air. If he cant bring flash and bang to the fight, he can bring more brain.
Morrigan MacIntyre Morrigan notices someone she's not seen in awhile, "Alexander." she gives a nod to the former student. "No cutting off any heads today." she tells him with a bit of a chuckle. Oh this was a running joke from years ago!

Morrigan is busy talking to Alexander and she's not paying attention to their immediate surroundings.

One minute things are fine and then there is a large figure that swoops out of the sky (nearby tree) and dives at Morrigan, gripping her by the shoulders and then attempting to fly off. <<Definitely more bat than human at the moment!>> the woman calls out on comms as she smacks the leg of the creature and it digs in all that much harder and actually clears the ground with her.
Clint Barton Clint has several non-lethal arrows in his quiver. The first sound of contact has him reaching for one of them, and pulling it to nock it on the string, he offers up over the coms, <<If we can get a few in one general area, I've got a net.>>

The sunglasses that the archer usually sports during the day, he's got them on now, in the dark. He's got his thermals running on them, thank you SHIELD (and probably Stark). How to look cool and be able to do your job in one fell swoop. Looking up, he shakes his head and shifts his jaw before bringing his bow up. Lots of prints, and the branches'll be a pain. Run the risk of having them hang in the branches.

<<On the ground would be great, though.>>
Alexander Aaron Alexander Aaron remained in the back of the pack, his hands where all occupied so he slipped the notepad into the back of his uniform pants for safe keeping and held the flashlight and ball of string akimbo, ready for action. The flashlight wasn't on, but his thumb was resting on the switch, don't you worry.

He hefted the ball of string, frumped his lips prospectively, then reconsidered and tossed it on the ground nearby.

Alexander tossed his hand backwards shattering the image of reality behind him, it descended in shards and slipped beneath the ground. The view of another reality, somehow ideal, but cold and lofty: a starlit sky and majestic mountain, adorned by a Parthenon of sandy stone. Betwixt the columns a flash of light as a slender blade hissed through the air, crossing time, space, and dimension to join the young man's hand. Reality reconstructed itself, obscuring Olympus from view once more.

Despite this, the young man stood without a fighters stance, his massive flashlight still unlit, he waited pensively not sure which would be more exciting to see: the monsters or his cohorts in action.

"Morri?" she was there just a second ago...
James Barnes Bucky's only made about two passes through the surrounding trees with his rifle's scope when something drops from from the tree-tops behind him. Something... there probably isn't a word to suitably describe it - vaguely humanoid in shape, the tail of a lizard, elongated jaw and large membranes flowing from its back. It's these membranes that allow it to glide from treetop to treetop. The sound it lets out is screeching, nails down a chalk board, but it's different. Thick saliva drips from that elongated jaw filled with small - but razor sharp - teeth.

Bucky's fast, but it's faster. In one blur of motion, he's on the ground with that thing on top of him. Fortunately, it's his left arm that he throws up to protect his face. Those razor sharp little teeth hit nothing but metal.

Another of the same drops in behind Clint. The archer? He's not so lucky. His arm isn't metal.

Bucky's down, but he still has that rifle in his right hand. It's awkward, it's one-handed, but he's one of the best damned shots in the world. One trigger pull, one hit and down goes the monstrosity attacking Clint - not before those sharp teeth sink in, not before the dose of venom from that thick saliva is delivered. It lies there, twitching and jerking on top of the archer, before going still.

For anyone that's seen the creatures from the previous mission, it's clear from the one trying to abscond with Morrigan that whatever's being done to them is progressing.

Sara's in the sky, Clint's down. Morrigan's ... up. Mike's in the sky. He hasn't really registered who else might be around and about. "Shuri!" Bucky calls out to get her attention - right before he manages to get a booted foot between himself and the lizard-thing. With a shove, it goes flying. Here's to hoping Lil' Sister has something with her that'll stun it.

<<I have three of them down. I don't know how long they'll stay that way.>> It's Steve, of course he already has three down.

The sound of the beasts in the trees goes silent, only the rustling of the branches to indicate their presence.
Natasha Romanova And Natasha knows that they have to flush the rest of the things out. They're boxed in and in a killzone - flanked, attacked from all around and vulnerable to things above. And they're also trying to restrain themselves as the beings they're dealing with are likely experimental subjects taken against their wills. So that means they have to be careful and can't hurt them.. Too much.

Natasha goes to take out one of the shriekers - a grenade that would emit hypersonic sounds that were only audible to those with enhanced, animal-like hearing. To the human ear, it would barely register. She goes to flip two of them up into the air, hurling them to go off about eight meters up in the air and have them lodge in some of the branches to keep on going. Then it's followed by a pair of specialized flashbangs that would light up like phosphorous to turn night into day. Giving a solid warning.

<<Sound and lights>> Close your damned eyes and if you have good hearing brace or get a headache.
Sara Pezzini When the shit hits the fan, it tends to be all of at the same time. Sara's interest in trying to find the beings is suddenly lost when she sees one of the bat-like things flying up with Morrigan. It wasn't something you saw every day and was very much like something you'd watch in a movie. The monster carrying off the lovely lady.

Now, Sara knew damn well that Morrigan could take care of herself in a fight, but what she didn't know is if the woman had a way to fly. If Mo wanted to break free, there was still the fall, and that was a risk Witchblade was unwilling to take.

<<I got you Mo!>> she states, not usually one to be so informal by calling the woman by her nickname. Normally it was Doctor MacIntyre or Ms.

Turning on a dime, Sara tucks her arms in against her body and pours on the speed. She can hear Bucky call out for Shuri, she hears Steve's report, but her attention is now fulling on getting Mo back. She was their Morrigan, not theres!

Coming up on the bat creature, a metal whip forms in her right hand. <<Take my hand!>> is said next as she extends her left hand toward Morrigan. At the same moment she snaps the whip out and around the beast, the metal extending out and wrapping the creature up.

As Morrigan takes the offered hand, a thick and flat tendril of metal wraps itself up the woman's arm to help hold her in place as the bat suddenly stops flying. <<Hang in there.>> is added here, not that she needed to say it, but she was working on her communicating with a team skills.

In the air above the trees, she holds Mo with her left hand, and the bat with her right, prepared for the sudden dead weight of the thing as it struggled. When she was certain she had both, she descended toward the ground.
Shuri Oh, lil sis brought the big guns.

Action happens suddenly because action always happens sudden... and as ''ready for combat'' as the Princess may appear, she's actually been in very little 'actual' fights. That doesn't mean she's not capable, just not field tested: much like her device. So it's a testiment to her training that she doesn't shrek when the bat thing drops down behind Bucky, and by proximity, herself. Safe in the, assumption, that she's protected inside her vibranium suit... what little comfort that actually is given the monstrocity she's staring at.

Beep, warning.

    ''Shuri!''

That momentary lapse in judgement where the armored young woman is standing there just staring passes quickly, but it's combat quickly, so a lot of things can happen in that very short amount of time. Like Bucky kicking the big monster of a lizard bat person away. <"Got it!"> She says, with as much confidence as she can summon. She's not ''afraid'', no, she's just ''new'' to all of this. It's an important distinction. Most everything she's faced was, at the very least, human.

Thankfully her tech doesn't give a flying rats butt crack whether it's human or not. The komoyo bead she was rolling in her fingers is hurled at the creature. Which, understandably, probably doesn't look all that impressive. Until the gauntlet brings up a menu of potential effects, but several of them are preprogrammed. One of them, the one she chooses, is a hardlight construct of vibranium polyweave netting with two heavy, magnetic, ends that are positively attracted to one another. Once she initiates the power supply with a tap of her gauntlet, it all snaps together like a vice and hits the ground like a very big rock thrown into a very shallow pool.

And because she's upset that it startled her?

She electructs the absolute shit out of it.

Not enough to kill, but honestly, she's following the Laurence Fishburn in Event Horizon theory of dealing with these things: 'Take the Louis & Clark (re-Herself) to a safe distance and launch tac-missiles (re-komoyo balls) at the monsters until she's satisfied it's unconscious... SCREW these things.'

Only less deadly.

Hand out to Bucky. <"You should not be laying down, Sergeant Barnes."> She's teasing, but he can almost certainly hear the... not fear.. but.. a little fear okay.. in her voice. And that makes her feel a little better.
Nick Drago With the sudden screeching, The raven's head turns glances looking to the shadows skirting about. The comm chatter is rather minimal. Leading to Mike just knowing that Steve took out three of the creatures.

FORTUNATELY someone did send up a warning about sound and lights which allows for Mike to not look directly at the pending brightness.

Then there's Sara's voice -

Chaos. It's absolute fucking chaos down below.

It's too fucking bright. Lose a turn.
Frank Noble Frank Noble again, and again wants to turn; he has only half his potential like this but under cover or not, the torment of those trapped thus calls to him, and so he throws two of prototype grenades, carefully reverse engineering exisitng SHIELD tech rather than use his own sleep gas formula; not wanting to experiment on the unwilling but to counter a more evil experiment, rules sometimes must be broken.

He is not bound by Order or Chaos....

The two go deep into the woods and the potent cloud expands and covers a large area, making a few drop in silence though the wind prevents it from affecting those in the trees. For a near blind throw it is remarkable frankly as he he is WELL familiar with what a flashbang can do and covers his ears.
Morrigan MacIntyre "Look, you wouldn't be the weirdest thing I went home with, but at least buy me dinner first!" Morrigan smacks the bat-guy in the leg as it digs it's claws into her shoulder, causing blood to run down her arm. Yes, she could just magic her way out of this, but she didn't want to hurt them.

Then there is Sara and she reaches out to take the offered hand, <<Thank you for the assist.>> she tells the Detective-Avenger. Once her feet are back on the ground there is a moment taken to stem the bleeding from the wounds in her shoulders. "That is annoying..." she breathes out. Then on comms, <<Do you want me to put these guys into a magically induced sleep for now?>> she asks the others.
Alexander Aaron Alexander Aaron whipped around after hearing his school moms voice, coming face to face with something big and toothy. He inhaled sharply, then raised his Imalent SR32 and tapped its button once.

Boom, two hundred thousand lumens. If it had retina, they could not be traded in along with four seventy five for a Venti at Starbucks. After that it was a quick slash or two with the gladius Olympus was kind enough to provide.

"Doctor Mac? You ok?" asked the young man, withdrawing the blade from its kill.
James Barnes An odd thing happens, Bucky Barnes - The Winter Soldier - the man that rarely ever accepts help from anyone, that would shrug the offer off with a scowl and stand on his own? Well he takes Shuri's small hand in his own and - while he does almost all the heavy lifting on his own - he allows her the satisfaction of helping him to his feet. "I missed my afternoon nap." Then he even winks. "Good job, now stay d-"

He doesn't get the last of it out before the trees are awash with light from Natasha's flashbangs. Thankfully he didn't have his scope to his eye when that happened. But he does still have his rifle in his right hand - thing might as well be glued there. Instinctively he shifts and turns to place himself between Shuri and - whatever else.

The flashbangs, the ultrasonic noise, the sleep grenades - more than a few of the pitiable, twisted souls in the woods hit the ground, but more than that remain in the trees. However, it all changes - the sounds from the beasts begin again, it's more frantic and it's moving away from the team. Up, up into the mountains. All heading in the same direction in unison, almost as if something was calling them 'home'.

"Stay here," Bucky tells Shuri, before he takes off running up that path. It doesn't take him long to realize that there's /no way/ he's going to catch up, even with the serum coursing through his veins, they're too fast. They have the advantage of not moving up hill, but flying and moving through the trees. "Damnit!" he barks out... a few times in rapid succession. Really Buck, that tree never did anything wrong, it doesn't deserve being on the receiving end of that left arm. That rock? It doesn't deserve to go flying like it does from the kick of a booted foot. "DAMNIT!" he growls... again.
Natasha Romanova And as the things go to flee and the chaos erupts around her, Natasha goes to switch out her ICER for another loadout - a tracking dart. These things run very fast. She moves to line up the shot with the mass of one of the flying things bodies, and goes to fire off the small homing beacon quickly.

Then she goes to line up the shot with another, and goes to try and fire. For as many as she can try and get a bead on before they flee and vanish.
Sara Pezzini On the ground, Sara takes inventory of the situation while keeping the bat creature wrapped up.

<<Barnes wa...>> but she doesn't get to finish that before he's off and running. Cursing under breath, she looks back to Morrigan.

"If you put this one out, I'll neutralize the poison in Clint," she states, already extending the whip so she can move closer to Clint.

Kneeling down beside him, she presses her right hand to her left, changing which hand has the whip so that the Gauntlet is free and clear. Closing her eyes, she concentrates, but really it is Witchblade who is concentrating. He is reaching out across space to gather the ability to neutralize the poison. The large red stone begins to swirl with red mist, a hint of a glow starting to shine through. Next the blue stone, though much smaller, begins to swirl with a blue mist and the light that comes from it is much brighter.

"Don't worry Clint, they got this," she offers to the unconscious man, then lays the Gauntlet on the bite wound. The nasty browning that had just started to creep from the wound and up the man's arm begins to fade, drawing back down the arm to the wound where Witchblade destroys it.

<<Mike, they're getting away! Go after them!>> she orders, not really meaning to put on the authority tone. <<Clint will be alright until you can get back to heal him.>>
Shuri All the little things help.

Shuri would never admit it, but this is far beyond her depth. Genetics aren't even her scientific field! So the wry grin on Bucky's face when he uses her to pull himself up puts her mind at ease. This'll be fine... not that she was ever concerned that it wouldn't be, oh no. Creepy ass forest in the middle of creepy ass Appalachian Mountains near a creepy ass mine? Lizard-bat-genetic freak jobs carting people off on leathery wings? That ''god awful'' shreking sound when the entire hive flies off in ''unison''.

NOTHING done in unison is good.

    No. Thing.

So while she puts up a big front of being put upon when she's told to stay put, she's following orders. She's a Scientific Observer in all of this, after all. Until even Bucky comes up short of catching the creatures. Understandable, given they're flying.

Shuri, she's doing scans of the twitching lizard-man with the device previously clipped to her breast plate and making recalibrations with a new test subject that's in a far further stage of mutation than the captives had been. She kneels down and stabs it in the thigh with a three inch long needle, presses a button on the top, and collects a tissue sample. Adding that to the analysizer with another press of the button.

With gunfire and screeching, and foul language flying all around her.

She glances back and up at the peaks of the mountains just barely visible through the advanced optics in her helmet, then down at the readings. A nod. A nother bead rolls into her palm, held there with her pinky, while plugging commands into her gauntlet. <<"Need a few signal boosters.">> She says, <<"Someone throw this as far into -those- mountains as you can.">> Komoyo held up like a golf tee. <<"I am almost certain, eighty three percent certain, that I can track them now.">> At least this variant, anyways.

Science.
Nick Drago Well, the light may have been a hinderance but it did give Mike time to contemplate things. Like- What the hell was going on below the tree line. With nothing going above the tree-line and seemingly everything going on below it is incredibly tempting to leave the general post. And, he almost does. But then the shadows and things start moving quickly away.

He start following.

Hearing Pez's instructions erases any inkling of doubt.

<< On it. >>

Under the cover of night and banking on the lack of - well anything that is typical to an astounding looking corvid such as himself.

As he reaches the mountain area, he comes across a hatch like door near the peak. Seeing the amount of shadows scurrying about causes for him to slow down. << Found where they're gathering. Hatch like door in the mountain. We're going to need a larger group. There's a shit-ton of them. >>

Well that's not assuring

The bird slowly fades from view. No longer needing shadow to actually conceal him. << Going to get a closer look. >>

...That's probably a bad idea.
Frank Noble Frank Noble nearly grinds his teeth with frustration. With his grapple gun he could be up and in those trees in seconds. Were it not for his now restored memory of Necessary's supernatural prowess in knowing what is..necessary he would change right now...

And then Shuri offers the item to be thrown. Could it REALLY be that simple? And of course it is, his life is a coincidence and one series of them. He grabss it, lays his arm back and with Olympic skill throws it end over end into the mountains...only then it sticks on tail of one of the retreating lizards only to land PRECISELY where it is needed for the maximum sensory effect.

Well....he blinks as he looks at the throw that managed to go an IMPOSSIBLE distance....that was....interesting.
Morrigan MacIntyre Morrigan gives a look to Alexander when he asks her if she's alright and there is a blink behind the sunglasses, "Oh...I'm fine. Just them trying to use me as a pin cushion." she states. "You good?" she asks him.

She's moving and talking, trying to make sure that the bat-lizard-men are put into a deep sleep while there is other things going on. <<Made sure that these guys over here are out until I wake them.>> she states to the others so that she's keeping folks updated.
Alexander Aaron Alexander's hideous eyes flashed with amusement. "Yeah I think so." he said, and then scanned around for any reason why he shouldn't be. He fell into stride beside his former teacher and mentor, swinging his sword with the casual motion of his arm. "I mean aside from that eighty nine on the final." he teased, "It didn't work you know, I still got into NYU." but secretly he was jazzed to be tagging along with his former teacher.
Nick Drago Using a less noticable form, Mike quietly moves through the hatch, taking care not to make a sound as he looks around. Something about narrating what he sees seems counterintuitive to sneaking in. Particularly with the amount of figures around and in the structure.

With what time he has, he commits what he can to memory. All four floors inside the mountain. The height of the floors are pretty tall, approximating it to a New York apartment that is low on square footage but plenty of height to accommodate a loft. Maybe about sixteen feet per floor?

The individual rooms are explored quickly, getting a general feel for the layout. Rooms where the victims were likely experimented on, holding areas, and... what would probably could be termed the server room from hell.

All of this is done quietly until-

<< BUUUUURRRRRRR!!!! BUUUUUR-!!! >>

There's the brief sound of alarms before it's suddenly cut off. Either the comm unit got cut off or the wearer exited from the source of said sound in a surprisingly quick manner.

<< So- Witchblade may not have detected magic. But THEY sure can. I'll need to make some sketches when I get back. >>
James Barnes With Bucky off beating on trees and rocks, Steve finally emerges from the trees. "Got six of them bound and ready for transport about two miles in. I'm going to call in help with that." Then he makes his way to Bucky. Once again, Steve is gonna Steve. He lays a hand on his friend's shoulder, "We're going to make this right, Buck. We're one step closer now." Then he's off to make those arrangements.

Now that he's taken his frustration out on innocent foliage and a few rocks, Bucky just slides down the trunk of one of those trees and sits there. Normal circumstances he'd be up and about and maybe even barking some orders here or there. But this time? No, not this time. This time he just sits there waiting for the clean-up team to arrive. Now that he's worked some of his anger out - for now - he just looks defeated.

...in the dark forested woods of the Appalachian Mountains in West Virginia where the - now deafening - silence and stillness is certainly nothing more than the calm before the storm.
