Venom The neighborhood a couple blocks away from the southeastern corner of the Bronx Zoo isn't known for being the safest of places after nightfall. While the people that live there are surely good people; the more unsavory elements of society tend to come out when the streetlights begin to cast their sickly orange glow. While many are locking their doors at night; some others are beginning to creep out into the dark of night to start their business operations or reign of terror. It's not long after true nightfall that cries of alarm and fear are joined by the sounds of gunfire erupting near the bus depot a few blocks down from the Bronx Zoo.

A pair of men in their late teens, perhaps early twenties, are running down the poorly lit sidewalk. They travel down Bronx Park Avenue and toward the West Farms Bus Depot to the south. In the darkness a hulking figure moves with preternatural speed and seems to stand out against the gloomy darkness for the sheer inky blackness of the monstrous form.

One of the fleeing men, in his panic, fires a single shot over his shoulder in a desperate bid to bring down the creature that pursues them through the shadowy Borough streets. As the terrifying, Hellish form of Venom emerges into the street light his rows of glistening fangs and saliva-dripping tongue lashes at the air. "I only wish to talk!" the unsettling voice of Venom calls out after the pair of fleeing men.

<<Eddie>> "Come on, man, leave them alone! You've scared them enough!"

The voice at the back of Venom's mind may plead, unheard to the world around him. Yet Venom's voice speaks aloud and in answer, no doubt sewing some confusion for those that don't hear the voice of the symbiote's host, "They have a gun! They are far from innocent! You should have fed me sooner!"
Mary Jane Watson She's having an evening off. Finished her shift at her 'day job' and is just out to get some dinner. She has her phone squeezed against her ear, held up by her shoulder. "Yeah, Anna, things are fine. Yes, I'm getting enough to eat. NO, I'm not seeing anyone. Yes, I'll drop by.." There's a gunshot going off. She tenses right as she hears that hellish tone. And sees the -pair- that it came from.

"Call you back Aunt Anna, at the bus stop so it'll be too loud to talk. Take care, love you." Phone sliding off, she goes to slide it into her pocket. She rapidly goes to yank out her 'friends' phone and goes to tap in a quick text alert to it, right before she goes to run along in a chase after Venom.

As much as it's horrible for the man he's after, Mary Jane's hoping that Venom slows down - so she can have a chance of catching up to the pair. $#*#
Tandy Bowen Tandy is just leaving her shift at the diner when she hears the shot ring out, dropping to the ground instinctively. Her eyes dart around, heart beating more frantically as the monstrous, fang-filled form comes into view. Shhhhhhiiiiiii - there's another one of these things? With the teeth and the - well, the darkness doesn't bother her. Not anymore. But her last encounter with one of these was almost terrible news, and she hasn't heard any spider-guy noises. She pulls the door open to the diner and disappears back inside for a makeshift weapon that she knows will work, just in case. If she's lucky, this one won't be as interested in violence for the sake of violence. Right?
Venom Slowing down doesn't seem to be in the plans for either the two men sprinting down the street, nor the monstrosity that follows them. Thankfully Venom doesn't appear to be moving at his full capability, but instead seems to be savoring the hunt as it were. As another gunshot bangs out into the night the sound of it striking a parked car can be heard. "Stop it! You'll hurt someone!" Venom calls out to the fleeing men, his voice a malicious snarl. The Lethal Protector is engaged and soon enough he's speeding up, chewing through the distance that separates symbiote from prey.

It only takes a few long strides of the towering monstrosity to catch up to the men. At least enough that an inky rope-like tentacle juts from the shoulder of the symbiote, sweeping the legs out from beneath the fleeing men. As both go tumbling and sprawling onto their faces, the gun goes skittering and clattering away across the pavement. While the streets themselves aren't dead this time of dead; they're thankfully not as congested or busy as they could have been!

The lashing tentacle of oily blackness wraps around one of the men's ankles, resulting in a cry of terror as he's pulled back toward Venom. Even as the potential victim is drawn in, Venom steps forward as though to meet his potential prey halfway.

In a grand showcase of there being no honor or camaraderie among thieves - or gangbangers - one may note that the second man scrambles up from his prone position and takes off running again, leaving his friend behind.

"Justin! HELP ME!" the man being dragged across the pavement toward Venom calls out.

Venom answers for Justin. "Justin can not help you. You belong to US now!"
Mary Jane Watson Mary Jane can only charge up until she's managed to catch up with the duo. She calls out, "Venom, STOP." She might not have directly interacted with them much if at all, but she knew well enough about the pair from what the other Spiders had said. She goes to have her fists out in front of her. No ICER, no swords, no batons. For now all she could do was try and distract and stall them for some others to get there and save the day.

"What are you going to get from that? You're not going to get any information from them. No one's going to quaver in fear of you from it. All you're going to have to show for it is another body or two on streets where there's plenty of them. You're not going to make a difference or change anything at all."

First, try and engage the symbiote on it's own level.
Tyrone Johnson A shadow swells, amplified by something not native to this universe, and out of the suddenly-boiling cloud of darkness steps Ty. He's got a ... smile on his face? And is holding real flowers? Most unusual for him. But the smile drops when he gets an eye on what's going on ... and how there's no sign of Tandy. Dammit!
Tandy Bowen The bell on the door to the diner jangles as Tandy steps out again. In one hand, there's a very large spray can. In the other, a long lighter. She hears the tail end of Mary Jane's comment, and pipes up. "Uhhhhh. Monster with the big teeths?? You have beef with these idiots or are you just hungry? Because I get a discount at work. Fred makes a mean corned beef hash omelette, I can get you one." Maybe they just need a really big Snickers. She's seen Ty hungry, she's not gonna judge too hard.
Tyrone Johnson Ah, there's Tandy. With a spray can? Oh, crap. Another goo monster. At least this one isn't blood-red and swinging axe-hands. "Yo, Dagger!" Ty calls out to get her attention. "We got another goo monster rampage?"
Venom The man, Justin apparently, continues to be drawn back toward Venom. The forward movement of Venom halts however as more and more eyes seem to fall upon him. It isn't the judgment that distracts him. It is the words called out to him from the likes of Mary Jane and Tandy that results in the hellish monstrosity pausing in his steps and turning his large, ink-like pools of white eyes toward the pair. From one to the other he goes, before Venom's focus returns to Justin, "We are hungry!" He states quite simply. "They are bad people. They have what we want. We will take it from these bad people!" For Venom it is all perfectly logical. Albeit fairly insane.

<<Eddie>> "Come on, buddy! Just let him go, take her up on that corn beef hash thing..."

"We do not want corn beef hash!" Venom proclaims to Eddie in the back of his mind. Yet for all intents and purposes, it seems as though Venom is answering Tandy and the generous offer that she's made.

<<Eddie>> "Maybe they've got chocolate too, buddy. Sounds good, right?"

There is a snarl of annoyance out of Venom as he continues to pull Justin toward himself by the sinuous, inky black tentacle that sprouts from the brutish symbiote's shoulder, "Chocolate isn't enough now! We have stalled for too long and we need satisfaction!"

Any moment now Justin will be within the clutches of Venom and judging by the way that his salivating tongue lashes at the air; it seems like those fangs aren't going to be good pals with Justin soon enough.
Mary Jane Watson She can't stop those words from going through her head. ~I can't get no.. Sati-ss-fact-ion..~
"You don't /need/ brains. You get the same things from chocolate. There's no change in the hormonal composition you get from either!" Okay, she was on a Peter tangent here.

"You're likelier to get something /nasty/ from it. He might have been in the sewers! Do you know where his brain has been? Do you want to risk if he has something in it that you could get sick from?" This melee is out of her league, so hopefully she can at least keep Venom distracted while Cloak and Dagger come up - not that she's aware of them yet.

"Come on, you don't know where he's been. Why don't you calm down and think of an alternative? They give tours of Hershey in Pennsylvania?"

She was not Peter. Her lines sucked.
Tandy Bowen Dagger shrugs at Cloak, passing him the can and lighter. Quietly, she says. "Maybe? They shot at him. It? Lil Teefies. That's what I'm gonna call them. Like a rapper." She steps closer, two light daggers twirling in her hands as she projects her voice at Venom. "C'mon Lil Teefies! Put the prion disease down and eat some eggs and bacon with us, yeah? There might still be some pie left. Specials today were chocolate and strawberry-rhubarb."

She doesn't necessarily object to him eating the guys if they're actually criminals, but it seems like maybe that's not always his MO. If that's the case, she'd rather they talk them down from murder to just a little scaring and mayhem. It's hard to judge him for being hangry, she's seen it in Ty enough. Tandy's hands move to her hips, careful of her knives. "They probably taste like funk and unwashed junk, do you really want manky breath? How you gonna get the fiber bits outta your teeth? They make floss big enough for that?"
Tyrone Johnson Ty had to juggle the flowers he brought for Tandy to take the can and the not-nearly-as-sucky-as-his lighter. Welp, the flowers could hang out in Darkforce - whatever in there that wanted to eat lifeforce wasn't interested in foliage. He hoped. Those were a chunk of his walking-around money, as poor as they both were. Now he stood ready, enveloped in Darkforce and with can and lighter ready. "Man, the red one did a number on me. Felt awful. Think Lil Teefies here will go down any easier? He looks less badass than the red one."
Venom Justin's been scooped up within a single clawed hand by Venom and the latter seems prepared to present the former to his tooth-filled maw. Venom's jaw hasn't quite distended by the time that various - arguably generous - offers are made or viable points presented. This is enough to draw Venom's head around and he practically spats his words out, looking from Mary Jane to Tandy, "You have," he pauses a beat before he hisses his next word out, his tongue flickering at the sheer excitement that the word brings on, "chocolate?"

Venom's head shifts, turning his attention back to Justin. Much to Justin's credit, the young man struggles within Venom's grip. To no avail of course, but he does try. A sudden squeeze of Venom's clawed hand seems to offer enough unspoken threat to the potential morsel that Justin goes still for a moment, likely out of sheer terror.

Venom has been distracted. At least for the moment. Though Tyrone's commentary regarding the appearance of Venom results in a sudden rush of agitation erupting from the symbiote, "We look less badass?!" Venom turns about, still holding Justin aloft and inconveniently in such a way that the young man could effectively function as a partial human shield. It's likely an unintentional matter of happenstance. Venom meanwhile glares down upon Tyrone as he rasps out with his hellish voice that sounds as though its clawed its way straight from hell, "We are PERFECTION! We are BEAUTIFUL!" Someone may have struck a nerve. "Our TEETH are plentiful and sharp!"

<<Eddie>> "Yeah, yeah, you are, but let's ignore that and listen to the stuff about chocolate, yeah?"
Mary Jane Watson All right, all right. Venom is distracted, not trying to gut the guy. "Yeah. How about we focus on the chocolate? If you keep the guy up like that you're not going to get it. And chocolate is way better, right?" Tentative here, keeping her hands up in front of her, well aware of the precarious sort of balance with Symbiotes and how quickly moods could snap about.

So in her mind she was tryingto not be aggressive, play up being relaxing.. And hope that Venom's mood would play along for now and be talked down.
Tandy Bowen Tandy's head whips towards Ty at the remarks. Her glare promises future retribution even as she slowly turns her head back to the entity she's dubbed Lil Teefies. "He's an idiot, ignore him. Obviously the teeth that are not trying to chomp us are superior. You're not shooting spikes at us either, and the conversation is loads better. All in all I'd call you an upgrade."

She could throttle Ty for agitating them, but he'd go wispy. Eyeing the other woman, Tandy shrugs, rolling her eyes just a little. "Oh, wait. What'd these guys do to make you all-" she gestures a hand at him. "Angry? Black and toothy?"
Tyrone Johnson Ty really wasn't in the mood to cater to Lil Teefies's delicate fee-fees. But Tandy and the hot redhead were trying to talk the black goo-monster down and keep him feom eating scumbags and then Ty could have smacked himself in the forehead. It was like looking into a funhouse mirror, one of those really warped ones. He scared people and had to eat bad guys to survive. Just like this goo-monster. "Hey. Look, Teefies, I'm an asshole sometimes. Forget what I said - looks like we got more in common than looking good in black and having to do bad things to bad guys to keep on living." he said carefully, leaving the can and the lighter in the Darkforce. "Howsabout we let the scumbags go to jail with the hot redhead and us monsters sit down and have some chocolate and talk?" he offered.
Venom The verbal exchanges seem to keep Venom distracted for a moment more, but only just. Mary Jane's question is met by a simple enough answer, even if it sounds terrifying spoken by the symbiote known as Venom, "Chocolate is an acceptable substitute, but we want the good stuff!" Which undoubtedly means something pure, organic, and free range. Hey, Justin.

Tandy's words, accompanied a moment later by Tyrone's, seems to draw Venom's attention. Despite his attention being drawn, he does still look to Justin. The long, lashing tongue reaches out to drape itself across Justin's cheek, which results in all manner of sputtering and hissing from the young man as he tries to turn his head away to no avail. By the time that Venom's little Pepsi Challenge Taste Test has concluded, he spats a comment back to Tandy and Tyrone both, "They were trying to rob a small, frail, wrinkly human that looked as though she was grown from a prune!"

<<Eddie>> "Old. Lady. It's an 'Old Lady'."

"Yes, yes, an old lady," Venom speaks to seemingly no one with a touch of annoyance bleeding into his words.

Then Venom's face snaps back toward Justin and the symbiote's head cranes forward, bringing his rows of deadly teeth within a scant inch or two of the capture man's face. Just as one may think that Venom's about to bite the man's face literally off, the black-and-white alien concludes the tale, "we intervened, they shot us, we broke them, this one and his friend ran away. Now we have this one and we're going to eat his head... and possibly his liver," Venom states with his free hand turning palm upward as the symbiote glances back toward Cloak and Dagger. That hand and the slight shrug of the symbiote's shoulders practically screams 'duh', without the sound ever being formed.

Meanwhile Justin has fully engaged his panic and resumes blubbering, kicking, and even punching at Venom in a desperate bid to escape.
Mary Jane Watson Mary Jane Watson would be firm, "Yes, he did a horrid thing. But do you really want to get his brain on you? Don't you worry that he might have something on him that would mess you up? Come on, he's going to taste disgusting. Do you want to eat his brain and get sick for a month? Do you know what brain poisoning is like? I've seen it before and it's really, really nasty."

She would take a breath, "I really am not an expert, but I look over at him and I really get a sense he has sphenopalatine ganglioneuralgia. That's a really nasty thing. You take a bite out of him, and you could get it even worse. I mean, he has all the signs of it. It sets in really quick. It can mess up even what you two can do together."
Tandy Bowen "I think he peed himself too, gross." Tandy wrinkled her nose as she eyed the guy dangling near Venom's mouth. "I mean. Even the day olds taste better than that." Although hearing what they'd done made her more inclined to let Venom just eat the guy. Mugging the elderly was just cowardly. Ty would... probably do something about them later.

The larger daggers in her hand had disappeared at some point, but she formed a tiny one now and flicked it into Justin's shoulder. Maybe he would straighten himself out between that and the scare from Lil Teefies. If not... Ty would find him. Or something worse would. "Something for you to think about," she said quietly, staring up at the dangling hum.
Tyrone Johnson Ty advanced on Lil Teefies, the Darkforce that comprised his body starting to boil forth. "All right, you don't want to have a monster-chat? Fine. Then it's gonna be like this. You eat that guy? I eat you. You'll spend the rest of your days in total blackness, feeling your life boil away off your body. To feed me." he said with a deadly serious look. "I get it. People that do bad shit to the helpless deserve to have bad shit happen to them. Wasnt asnyone there to protect me or Dagger here when we needed it. But she's a better person than I am and she wants you to put the scumbag down. He'll get his - Dagger already got him and he's gonna turn his shit around real soon now. Because he knows there's monsters in the dark. Watching. So whaddya say, Teefies? How you wanna play this?"
Venom Justin cries out with the tiny lightblade that buries itself into his shoulder. Venom seems to find amusement in this, judging by the soft sound of hissing amusement that erupts from the symbiote. The words of Mary Jane do at least cause Venom to create a little more distance between his mouth and Justin's face. Because Venom surely didn't want to get sphenopalatine ganglioneuralgia. Right?

The approach of Tyrone and the roiling darkness that seems to exude from him results in Venom's fanged maw opening again, as though offering a warning of his own to the approaching Cloak. The slight movement of the symbiote's head results in a glance toward Dagger and then to Mary Jane. Then back to Cloak. The threats don't seem to sit well with Venom, but he sees the writing on the wall for what it is. He's outnumbered and not by people like Justin. People who may present a greater threat.

A glance is given toward the diner where Dagger has only recently departed, then back to Cloak. "You want him?"

<<Eddie>> "Do it. Just put him down, okay? No one else needs to get hurt tonight and I promise, I'll get you like three boxes of chocolate tomorrow, okay?"

"Four," Venom answers the unheard voice with a rasp like stones being ground together.

"Fine, you can have him," Venom says of Justin. As the symbiote seems ready to release Justin, his thick arm shifts and sends the young man hurtling across the distance between Cloak and Venom. Justin screams out as he's bodily launched toward Tyrone.

In the same moment Venom sets off at a ground-eating pace, leaping up and over the entirety of a parked vehicle without ever touching it. One or two more long strides are taken before the massive brute leaps up and up, clearly aiming to land atop one of the buildings across the street.
Mary Jane Watson There's a look of complete relief on Mary Jane's face as she goes to mouth a 'thank you' to Cloak and Dagger. The duo saved a life. And.. She was -going- to remember that name for Eddie. not that it would ever come up face to faces. She would smile a bit and then go to take a deep breath, moving to quickly head to a point where she coudl make sure that Venom was going..

Then musing, "I think being in you is probably going to be a lot worse for him than what they would have done."
Tandy Bowen "Guess that's a no on dinner?" she calls upward with a huff of a laugh as Justin hurtles at Ty. She isn't concerned about Ty. He's been fed recently, and he likes to talk smack. She does watch the action, attention split between the toss, the redhead, and the stunning display of agility.

"So uh... friend of yours?" she asks Mary Jane. "What's the deal with the whole..." her arms flail and she mimes chomping "The weird body and the tentacles and teeth stuff? He's like the second or third one I've seen lately."
Tyrone Johnson Ty just _looks_ at Justin. Menacingly. He doesn't have Venom's dentation or tentacles or any of that, but the boiling Darkforce usually scares street-meat. A tendril of Darkforce reaches out to slow Justin's fall, and he hits the pavement with only a little bit of excessive force. "You want him?" he asked MJ, keeping a tendril on Justin in case he decides to try to get frisky. Then he looked back at Justin. "I think his days of mugging little old ladies are over, aren't they Justin? You want to rethink your ways, do something productive with your life?"
Mary Jane Watson Mary Jane Watson would shake her head, "Oh, no. I think that you have a much better place when it comes to ensuring that he lives a better life than I do." She wasn't -sure- what exactly Cloak was made out of. "So going to make this simple for you." She would gesture to Justin. "Convince him now that you'll behave." Looking at Tandy to see if she was going too far. And shaking her head at the 'friend of your's'.
Venom Venom looks back for only a moment. It's not to Mary Jane, Cloak, or even Dagger. It's Justin. The leap onto the rooftop provided an excellent point to observe from, even if it's for only a moment. It's longing for the brain that got away that Venom watches Justin. By the time that the symbiote begins to drift away and into the darkness, he calls out over a shoulder, "Leave Old Ladies alone or I'll eat your fucking soul!"

Justin looks back toward the hellish voice that roars out from the rooftops and darkness across the street. Then it's abruptly back to Tyrone that the young gang member looks, sprawled out on his back and with the tendril of Darkforce that holds him in place, "I'm done, I promise! Just don't let that thing near me again, okay?! Hell, I'll go with her all calm and casual, I promise!" Justin angles his face toward Mary Jane, likely indicating her as the 'her' in his declaration. Though when Mary Jane directs Justin to appeal to Cloak, and by proxy Dagger, Justin's quick to sputter out his appeal, "I'll give you fucking address! I live with my parents on East 179th Street! You can check in on me whenever you want and everything, just let me go and don't let that THING near me again!"

All those accustomed to the mean streets of the Bronx know that the street that Justin's just declared is quite literally only a block and a half away. He's a local.
Tandy Bowen "I shoulda let Lil Teefies eat you," Tandy muttered, scowling and crossing her arms over her chest. "Or Ty. Ty could still eat you." She stalked into range, stomping on Justin's foot with her steel-toed boots. "When you get out, come to the diner. You are going to become a damn good dishwasher, maybe work your way to short order cook. Get the skills now, because it's the only job you're going to be eligible for if you go to jail for robbing a GRANNY." She paused for a second. "Well. Assuming you don't end up capping someone that Maggia adjacent. Or worse." She let out an unimpressed huff and turned her back on him, taking the few steps to Ty and leaning against his shoulder. "Make sure he goes home so we can too, I guess?"
Tyrone Johnson Ty reached back for a moment into the Darkforce and came up with now-sadly-ragged bouquet of flowers. "Got you something." he told Tandy, handing her the flowers. Towards Justin, he glanced over and mouthed "Be good. Or else. And beat it." he scowled at the thief before turning his attentions back to Tandy. "I think he'll be moving along shortly. And if he doesn't show for work, let me know. I can always use a snack." he said. "But c'mon. Let's go before 5-0 shows up."
