Owner Pose
Shannon Davis Shannon Davis frowned softly at the entrance, she was feeling fairly insecure, as dipping into the science of things was not really one of her strength. But regardless she needed this, to properly delve into her powers. She breathes in deeply and rings, presumably the intercom. She does check again to make sure this was the correct place afterwards, out of nervousness.
Hank Pym Hank Pym answers the door, wearing his lab coat over his action wear. In preparation for Science he goggles, up around his forehead right now. "Ah, you're Shannon Davis. Well you're on time, that's a plus. Come in." He turns around and walks back in the lab uncovering a very cinematic lag table. He puts a plastic covered basket on top of the table. "Come on, come on. You don't keep science waiting. I don't bite, no matter what Janet van Dyne will allege. How are you today?"
Shannon Davis Shannon Davis cleared her throat a bit uncomfortably once the door was answered. The social aspects of her chosen lifestyle were still a bit of a challenge for her, as she was mostly used to keeping to herself in isolation. The prospect of advancement offered by such an encounter, however, was well worth it. "Oh um, good I guess. Excited I think, I don't really know very well how my stuff works, so it's really cool to have someone so smart look into it." She eyes the table with great interest and some confusion. "I gotta say I was kinda surprised you actually took interest."
Hank Pym Hank Pym starts rummaging in the basket, listening to Shannon. "Oh thank you. Well you seemed like you were in need of help and someone else might get it wrong. Besides... I discovered I have a soft spot for young people. It really has shot my reputation as a miserable, all-knowing so and so to pieces. I should make Neil deGrasse Tyson cry again. Oh. Manners. I am Doctor Henry Joseph Pym PhD, MS... the rest of the alphabet, formerly a superhero, always a scientist, and a dad when my daughter lets me be. Are you ready to start or do you need a snack, bathroom or beverage?" Yeah he is a dad. He somewhat tentatively extends a hand to shake. If she takes it she might notice it is far stronger and rougher than that of most doctors. Likewise he's built more like a runner than an acacdemic.
Shannon Davis Shannon Davis offers the man a soft smile, nodding once. "Oh don't worry about it, haha. It's nice to meet ya." She couldn't deny it was a fair bit intimidating, meeting someone so impressively qualified, she felt a bit inadequate, but that one wasn't new. Considering his past herowork it was no wonder her was built in that particular way, but it was pleasant to see it was still the case. "I'm good, thanks. I went before coming here, wasn't sure if you were gonna have some high-tech bathroom I wouldn't know how to use. Anyways, what are we doing exactly?"
Hank Pym Hank Pym pulls a softball out of the basket and tosses it to her. "First, a small demonstration. Propel this back to me. Do I need a glove to catch it?" He pulls a glove from the basket.
Shannon Davis Shannon Davis stares at the ball for a bit before looking back at the man. That was a good point, she had never actually bothered to tone her powers down, so she only knew how to make it go at maximum power. "Um, yes. Get ready for it." She says, giving the man some time to prepare the glove. She plants the ball in the center of a hand and holds it with the other, pointing it at the glove. She steps back a bit before focusing for a second. There's a light *THUNK* noise just as the ball is abruptly launched, charged with the corresponding amount of force that a professional baseball pitch would normally bear.
Hank Pym Hank Pym catches the ball, shakes his hand out a little ruefully. "Nice. Well you could definitely make money helping ball players train. Ah... have you ever tried to reverse this ability to hold an object on your palm without grasping it? Does the acceleration only repel I guess is what I'm asking." As he speaks walks past Shannon to uncover a box-like device bolted to the floor. He tosses the ball back. "Try it. Negative acceleration is still acceleration."
Shannon Davis Shannon Davis blinks a few times, staring at her hands. "Huh, actually no, I haven't." She plants the ball onto her palm and squints at it. She's never tried messing with any qualities of her powers, they were fairly recent after all. Upon her first try she accidentally triggers the effect right away, making the ball bounce around wildly until she catches it again. "ARgh-- Sorry about that." The second time around she takes it very slow, picturing the correct vector for the acceleration. There's light swishing noises and some jerking around of the ball before it stops. "I...I think I can do it...maybe. It didn't go flying this time so I think that means I can probably control it like that if I get better at it."
Hank Pym Hank Pym watches the process with some interest. "Okay, breathe, stay calm. It's just a ball, not a Ming vase or nitro. Work on doing it right first then doing it quickly." He's not a scientist now, he's a coach or a dad. "Okay you can take that ball and fire it at this box so we can establish how many newtons you put out. Then I have another test." He points at the box and gets the hell out of the way.
Shannon Davis Shannon Davis nods several times, seeming quite excited at the idea of her powers having more applications than she thought. Though she does seem fairly frustrated over her lack of control. "You're right, it kinda slips out when I get nervous about it. I guess I shoot it out of reflex." She says with a sigh before turning towards the box. Her palm is pointed towards it with the ball touching, she focuses and draws out as much force as she can. I thunks off once more, flying at the box with the corresponding amount of force, it's definitely enough to knock someone out if used with a hard object but not very likely to kill them. "Is that good?"
Hank Pym Hank Pym looks at a monitor reading off m/s and nt.s whatever those might be. He hmmms again. Then he takes off the lab coat..
Shannon Davis Shannon Davis tries reading the info on the ball, but finds out not paying attention in physics class is taking its toll. "Uhhh- Do you think that's better than average?"
Hank Pym Hank Pym begins growing. The lab's high ceiling now appears very practical. At nearly 4 meters he looks down at Shannon, who looks very tiny now. He gets into a cross legged sitting position near her and makes a fist. "I'm going to throw a very slow practice punch. It will not hit you. I want you to stop it with your hand and your ability. Don't worry, I won't hurt you." He moves a huge fist towards her.
Shannon Davis Shannon Davis widens her eyes a bit, staring at the giant man. "You- Wow. That is weird." She says with a soft chuckle, but seems fairly excited at the idea. A bit too excited in fact, her eyes are positively glimmering and she has the a look that suggests she might not have minded it even if it wasn't just a practice punch. She produces an excited gasping noise when the fist moves towards her and eagerly slaps her hand out, aiming it towards the punch while outputting as much of her power into the impact as possible, adding the extra force onto the regular strength of her hand.
Hank Pym Hank Pym continues punching, frowning and then stops. "Okay. Two more tests for today. First... I'd like to pick you up and see if you could use your power to cling to a wall the way Spider-Man does. Is that all right? You can just step into my hand." He looks a little embarrassed.
Shannon Davis Shannon Davis is dragged along by the first, doing intense grunting as she outputs the maximum possible force she can, though it's still far from being able to deal with his level of weight and strength. She huffs with a bit of frustration. "Man, you are a freaking strong." She says, not hesitating at all in climbing into his hand. "THat's a great idea actually, how have I not thought of this before..." SHe mutters to herself, feeling it shold have been obvious, especially with how much climbing she was used to doing.
Hank Pym Hank Pym chuckles a little as he supports Shannon's back with his other hand. "Do your physics homework. Also I am a scientist guy and not to sound immodest but, my work has given people superpowers. I know superpowers." He holds her against the wall. "I'll hang on until you tell me to let go and if it doesn't work I can catch you easy enough. Whenever you're ready." he's still getting used to the idea of younger people respecting him. Older people often wonder what the Wasp saw in him and why the Avengers still suffer to have him. Idiots.
Shannon Davis Shannon Davis was having a grand time with this experience, anything that had to do with improving herself like this was a great time for her. "Maybe I should start working out or something, I'm starting to feel my powers are bit on the light side right now..." She says with a sigh while pressing her hands to the wall. Frowning, she focuses herself completely, groaning furiously with her fingertips pressing in hard. After several moments she pulls her hand back. "Hmm. It's not sticking. I think I'm accelerating the wall but since it doesn't move I can't do much about it. Maybe if I put like a gauntlet on my hand I could accelerate it towards the wall instead and sick it there."
Hank Pym Hank Pym puts Shannon down and smiles at her. "One last trick and yes working out is great, whatever you do." He picks up the ball, holding it between forefinger and thumb. "I want you to take the ball and propel it into the sensor box again. But this time, go slow and try to charge it up so to speak. Try to build the effect before you release if you can. I think you're capable of greater things. You just need to exercise your power and your muscles. Hmmm I can ask Captain America about that. He trained me. He's a good coach. Maybe I should have given you a sandwich... anyway take the ball concentrate for a bit and don't worry about property damage."
Shannon Davis Shannon Davis laughed softly, giving his bigass hand a pat. "Oh this is way better than a sandwich. Having access to such a smart guy to help me figure this out is such an amazing opportunity." She grins a bit mischievously, seeming to be extremely interested in the prospect of getting stronger. "I think having a stronger body might do me some good with the powers. Oh wait, especially in this situation. I have an idea!" She almost sprints off to position, extremely eager over her newfound possibility. She puts the ball in her hand but then squeezes down on it as hard as she can, really gripping it. This time when she starts applying her powers the momentum starts and the ball jerks, but she holds it in place with great effort, which causes the force to build rapidly until it slips out of her hand and goes flying off violently. "Gah! See, if I were stronger I coulda held that for longer."
Hank Pym Hank Pym reads the numbers off the side of the box. "Yeeeeees. Twice the impact from before." He shrinks back to normal or thereabouts. At one point he's eye to eye with Shannon, instead of a head taller but he adjusts quickly. "My powers are a little out of shape lately. Getting better though." He rubs the back of his neck a little embarrassed. "Mastering your ability can take time and patience but I think I can help you... are you a Mutant that you know of? I ask because Dr. Heanry McCoy would be a person to talk to. Mutants are not my specialty. I'd keep such information secret of course."
Shannon Davis Shannon Davis rubs the back of her head, thinking for a while. "I uh...think so? I don't really see any other reason to have these powers, so I think it should be that. Unless some kinda magical thing happened while I wasn't looking. I hope that's the case at least, I guess, if they're a natural part of my body then it means I can work them up to get stronger like my muscles right?" She could only hope, they were not doing all too great right now. Though she didn't seem all too preoccupied about her identity and the implications of being a mutant, she generally didn't think of consequences for most of what she did anyways. "Is he like, a mutant expert? Maybe we can find out how my powers work exactly, if there's an explanation."
Hank Pym Hank Pym looks a little annoyed. "/I/ can figure out the /how/ Shannon. I have three PhDs. Hank is more about the why." He smiles after a moment. "You're about the correct age for a Mutation to become manifest. I will give him a call if you don't mind and he's one of the authorities on Mutations, as well as an Avenger. And in the case of Mutations, yes, powers usually increase very rapidly after first appearing. Okay why don't you come back tomorrow and we'll fiddle with physics some more and maybe Dr. McCoy or the Captain will be available."
Shannon Davis Shannon Davis smirked a little at him. "Alright, alright, you can figure them out then, as long as we get it sorted out." She chuckles and rubs her chin, thinking for a moment. Her eyes sparkle brightly at the thought of her mutations increasing rapidly, it makes her face twitch a little in excitement. Her eyes get a very fixated look for a moment, one that bore an aggressive anticipation. That soon fades as she looks back up to him. "Thank you for all the help, I really appreciate it. I'll be back here tomorrow, hope I can get to meet both of them."
