It's a story of a girl who after reading an inscription at the base of a sarcophagus brought upon herself Nephthys's curse. Now working at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Zaya Abdelkader tries to keep it under wraps (see the Mummy humor) that she has a Goddess living within her. Trying to figure out what her life now holds for her, Zaya lives to serve Nephthys and the Goddess' desires and whims. It is a heavy burden for the young girl who just wants to live a normal life. Yet, she cannot help but think that there is some good to be done with her new found abilities.

Timeline:
* 1998: Zaya Abdelkader is born in Cairo, Egypt to Egyptology professor Zahur Abdelkader and his wife Charlotte Locke of Boston, Massachusetts.

* 1998-2008: Zaya lives in Cairo and attends school there.

* 2008: Zaya moves to Boston with her family. Her mother's parents were aging and needed care. Her father would take a job at Boston University in the Archeology Department.

* 2016: Zaya graduates and decided to attend college back in Egypt. She enrolls in the University of Alexandria to study Egyptology.

* 2020: Zaya joins an archeological dig at Herakleopolis, north of Sepermeru. It is a dig at a Temple they believe was dedicated to Nephthys. As a result of reading a tablet at the base of a sarcophagus, Zaya finds herself waking up in a tent, not remembering anything after she read it.

* 2020-2021: Zaya finds comes to terms with what happened, discovering her powers and trying to keep them hidden. There was a small instance when she picked up a small wounded bird and she watched it decay in her hands.

* 2021: Zaya returns to the United States after landing a job at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It is here that she will meet Marc Spector. She will later join up with the newly formed Heliopolitan Faction.

Personality

Compassionate:
Zaya has always been a caring person. However, with the embodiment of Nephthys within her, she has taken that to a different level. Zaya always wants to help those in need, including those who have passed on and those left behind.

Inquisitive:
Zaya is always wanting to know more, to learn more. If there is something she desires to know, she will make sure she puts in the effort to understand it. She is not afraid to ask questions, or afraid of the answers she may seek.

Protective:
If she was not protective before, the influence of Nephthys within her certainly has taken that to a new level. Zaya is extremely protective of her family and friends and will often put herself in harms way to make sure they remain safe and unharmed.

Reserved:
Zaya has always been a bit shy. She is not the most social person and will not go out of her way to start a conversation with a stranger. She does not particularly like large crowds or gatherings and for the most part tries to keep to herself. It is not that she is unfriendly, she simply chooses to be slightly introverted.

Soft-Spoken:
Zaya has always had a soft-spoken tone, a voice that has always calmed and put people at ease. Even more so now, there is something about the way she speaks that exudes a sense of calming peace and tranquility.

The Nephthys Effect:
Zaya is her own person; well to a point. Being the living embodiment now for the Goddess Nephthys not everything she does is her own decision. The Goddess has an agenda and at times Zaya will act outside of her own freewill. Nephthys has been accommodating, but sometimes Zaya will appear to act outside of how she typically is ands this has become to be known as the Nephthys Effect.

Darkness Manipulation:
Zaya can manipulate the darkness, making up to a good size room dark. This darkness is hard to penetrate with any normal light. She has also been known to put up a Shield of Darkness as a protective measure, able to absorb magical based attacks, but not blunt forced attacks.

Healing Breath:
By breathing on the injured area with a long soft breath, Zaya can heal most wounds and trauma. The greater the wound the more breathing it would require. There is speculation that she could literally give a breath of life should Nephthys allow it, but this has yet to be tested and the cost would be great to Zaya.

Spiritual Conversing:
Zaya can speak with the spirits she sees, gaining knowledge and answers they wish to reveal. She must speak out loud, but the voices she hears are within her head.

Spiritual Sense:
Zaya has the ability to sense spirits anywhere she goes, should they wish to he seen. In addition, she also has the ability to see past scenes played out in which death may have occurred. For instance, on a battlefield or what could potentially have been a murder scene.

Touch of Death:
If Zaya is to touch any living thing with her bare hands, that thing begins to slowly decay. It is as if she is drawing the life right out of it. Her hand must remain on the living thing as it is not an instant process. If she is allowed or able to complete the touch, the living thing will appear withered and decayed; much like that of a mummified body; thus, causing death. Any other part of her body does not have this effect.

Archeology:
Zaya is certified and trained to work on any archeological dig site.

Curating:
Zaya works at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and has developed sufficient skill in curating.

Modeling:
Zaya actually did some modeling in college and still remembers how to walk, pose and put on that fake smile.

Multi-Lingual:
Zaya is fluent in Egyptian, English and Hieroglyphics.

Apartment In NYC:
Zaya actually has a small apartment in NYC near the Metro Museum. It is not cheap, but she lives fairly frugally. She would not admit it, but her parents are assisting her.

The Goddess Within:
There are certain benefits to having a Goddess within. Zaya has a certain level of respect for people that are aware of this. In addition, in the realm of the Egyptian Gods, Zaya has knowledge that other people do not have an awareness of.

A Servant To Nephthys:
It is a blessing and a curse. Zaya is essentially the vessel now that Nephthys has chosen to complete her goals. Whereas most of the time Zaya is allowed ot do what she desires and live as normal as a life as she can, at the end of the day what Nephthys wants...Zaya will be forced to do.

Mortal:
Despite having a Goddess setting up residence in her body, Zaya is still mortal. Her lifespan may be extended and she may be able to "escape" death given Nephthys' ability, but her body can be hurt just like any human.

Those Hands:
Zaya will never know the feeling of touch with her hands without causing death. This has had a deep impact on her ability to grow close to anyone and made relationships very difficult.
