Profile
Kate is a young woman who was raised in by the state after her father was driven mad due to her uncontrolled duplication powers as a child. She grew into a fun-loving young woman, who at times fights crime using her martial arts skills.
Timeline
Timeline:
* 2001: On July 16, Kate and her twin brother Paul are born. Their mother dies during
childbirth, leaving them to be raised by their father Tsing Cha. They were unaware their family line
was cursed seven generations prior.
* 2002: As the twins became toddlers, their powers became
apparent. They would duplicate themselves constantly. They had no control of the powers. As such,
there were hundreds of toddlers in the home with their father trying to deal. He was driven insane
by the circumstances, completing the curse "The seventh generation after Cha's seventh grandchild
would be burdened with a family too large to care for... and it would drive him mad." He was
admitted to a mental institution. The children are put into state custody.
* 2003: The twins are
put into the foster care system. Their foster parents take them to a doctor to try to understand
their abilities, leading them to be taken to many scientists for years to come in hopes of an
answer.
* 2008: At the age of seven, Kate is introduced to karate. She exhibits slightly better
control of her powers when concentrating on the moves and this encourages her to begin pursuing
various martial arts more seriously.
* 2012: Upon puberty, Kate manages to learn to control her
powers fully.
* 2015: Kate and Paul begin going out to try crimefighting. They are not very good
but improve with each outing.
* 2018: Graduated high school. Began working and spent more time
crime-fighting with Paul as she took a year off from school.
* 2019: Entered college on a full
scholarship, putting crime-fighting on hold. Took an extremely heavy class load but uses a duplicate
to help attend and keep up.

Personality
Determined:
Kate is very focused on reaching her goals. Those goals may shift over time, but when she has
one in her sight, she is determined to reach it. This is what has allowed her to excel in her
martial arts training. It is why she is able to take on a heavy class load (duplicates not
withstanding). It is why she was able to practice crime-fighting effectively as a teen, after a bit
of a learning curve.
Fun Loving:
Kate is very focused on enjoying herself. Much of her life was difficult, with the multitude of
duplicates, father being institutionalized, the foster care system, and being studied like a
specimen under a microscope by scientists trying to figure out what made her tick. She would rather
avoid that part and focus completely on the fun. Well, that and her studies. She does intend to get
her degrees but that is what duplicates are for sometimes.
Spontaneous:
Kate is rather spontaneous. She enjoys doing things for enjoyment. Not planned things are even
better. It is a heightened sense of enjoyment from such moments. Some might call her flighty. She
will sometimes just spur of the moment opt to go do something. Thankfully having duplicates allows
her to do so without neglecting her responsibilities.
Character Sheet
Powers
Duplication:
Kate is able to create duplicates of herself with a thought. These duplicates are fully
independent, conscious and aware, able to make their own decisions. In essence, every duplicate IS
Kate. Each duplicate has a shared consciousness of sorts, much like a type of specialized telepathy.
It allows each to experience what the other is doing which can be a benefit and a hindrance. They
can control how much information goes through in some ways (see Power Mental Processes) but they are
never cut off fully from each other. Duplicates can also make duplicates. A duplicate is created at
will with a thought, needing nothing more than that time to come into existence by moving out of the
other. Only one can be created at a time, not like five in a single thought. It would need to be
five separate thoughts. Or two Kates each thinking of creating a duplicate. It is unknown how many
duplicates can exist at one time and there is no distance limitation from the original Kate. She has
created as many as 100 at a time. Duplicates will only exist as long as Kate wills them to. A
duplicate can be absorbed back into another Kate with a thought, one at a time. Living duplicates
must be absorbed back into herself. If a duplicate dies, Kate may absorb the body back into herself
or, if she wishes, it will just disappear because it is no longer living.
Mental Processes:
Because she has the ability to have multiple duplicates active at the same time, her mind is
specially created to allow for all these various consciousnesses existing without driving her
insane. While they are all one and sharing that, they also can focus on their own situations. In
some ways they can turn down the noise of other duplicates. Or they can focus on the other fully and
the many duplicates will have thoughts in relation to it. Most of the time they are like background
noise. They all know the others are there, but it doesn't interfere with their own mind functioning
properly with whatever situation they might have at hand. This type of a mind could be both a
blessing and a curse against a telepath. Some that are inexperienced would not be able to deal with
the amount of data being processed if there are multiple duplicates active at the same time. But for
someone used to such things, it is a way to possibly affect all the Kates at the same time.
Skills
Education:
Thanks to her special gifts, Kate generally takes a double class load when she's in school. It
worked for high school classes and now college. Of course, she has a duplicate take half the classes
but each has a stacked list of classes, so they are kept busy. As such, she has a wide range of
knowledge about random general topics. It allows her to learn at a faster rate than the average
person.
Geography:
Having spent her entire life in New York City, Kate has a good working knowledge of many areas
where she lived of frequented. Obviously, she won't know every street. But those areas where she
would normally be and worked as a vigilante, she has a very in-depth knowledge and it allows an
advantage at times against opponents.
Martial Arts:
Kate has been training in martial arts since the age of eight. She is an expert in many
different forms, having earned a master ranking in each. Karate, mixed martial arts, Brazilian jiu-
jitsu, boxing, Muay Thai, kickboxing and Taekwondo to name a few. These make her an excellent
fighter. She generally practices open-hand but she has some training with traditional weapons such
as swords, staffs and shuriken.
Scientific Theory:
Due to having been studied all her life by various scientists trying to understand her powers
and where they came from, Kate has a good grasp of scientific theory. She has asked questions and
read papers, particularly those that pertain to herself. She understands the various steps taken in
approaching a problem as well as working through the processes to obtain results. Even if those
results always were negative since they could not figure out where her powers came from, they were
still results and that was a step forward.
Stealth:
Kate has worked as a vigilante hero. This has taught her the ability to be stealthy, using
shadows and cover to her advantage. She has learned how to move more silently and be aware of
dangers in the urban setting. Put her in the wilds and she would not be nearly as effective but in
the big city, she's well versed.
Vigilantism:
Kate has gone out on the streets to help fight crime, alongside her brother. They started out a
bit rough but through experience got better at it. She would be a street level fighter, since she is
basically a human despite being able to make duplicates. She used a mask to keep her identity secret
and has done this for a few years. Her experiences do not include high powered foes, more the odd
mugger or gang.
Resources
Brother:
The only family she has to rely on is her brother. They are close and have fought crime together
on the streets of New York. They rarely team up that way now as they both have more going on in
their lives. However, if needed, he would be there for her be it to try to help financially or
teaming up again.
Scholarship:
Kate is attending college in New York on a full scholarship. She lives in an on-campus dorm.
Money is made from working while attending college full time, but it is just enough to survive. She
won't starve but she can't afford regular housing in NYC either.
Weaknesses
Crisis of Self:
Considering that other duplicates are her in all ways, all of them being Kate, what does that
mean? Does it duplicate her soul if there is such a thing? How can she be sure she's the real one
when they all know they are Kate? Thoughts like these are why she tries to keep so busy at all
times, so she doesn't drive herself crazy with an existential crisis.
Duplicate Mysteries:
There are many things that Kate does not know about her powers yet. She has no idea where they
come from as all tests have been inconclusive. She doesn't know what will happen if a duplicate
dies. Or what might happen if the Original Kate does. Would the duplicates continue or would she
continue to be as one of them. So many questions and the only way to get the answer on some, she'd
like to avoid if at all possible.
Magic:
Kate was created from a magical curse cast upon her family line. This means that someone able to
recognize such a thing through magical means may be able to remove said curse. In doing so, she
would become a normal human with no duplication powers.
Overload:
If multiple duplicates of Kate are killed at the same time, there will be a backlash in the
minds of Original Kate and all remaining duplicates. If more than five duplicates die at the same
time, it will send feedback strong enough to knock out all remaining Kates. This would last a few
minutes. The more duplicates to fall, the more severe the feedback and the longer she would be
unconscious.
Telepathy:
Due to the way her mind is linked across all duplicates, this can be helpful for a skilled
telepath. While a telepath who has no skill might be at a loss in the myriad of Kates and thoughts,
a powerful/skilled one will be able to psionically affect all of the duplicates, no matter the
range. Because all of Kates minds are bound to one another in a shared consciousness.
