Quera is an undercover alien from a green-skinned species hailing from the Shi'ar galaxy, who passes herself off as a mutant named Sofia "Probe" Quintana. Her (feigned) mutant powerset allows her to use the kitbashed tools on her belt as focii for her "bio-data analysis" powers.

Timeline:
* April 1995: Quera was born on a distant planet, fifth of 12 in her creche.
* 2001: Quera begins her study of the planet Earth, fascinated with the diversity of superpowered beings.
* 2003: Quera completes her education in biomedicine and undertakes her first secretive journey to Earth.
* December 2021: Mistaken for an invading alien ship, Quera's probe-ship is shot down and crashes in the Gulf of California.
* January 2022: Having salvaged what she could from the wreckage of her craft, Quera cobbles together a "survival kit" that she wears on her belt. She uses this to access a government database and create false records identifying her as a Mexican-American mutant living in San Diego, named Sofia Quintana.

Personality

"probe" Persona:
As the green-skinned human mutant "Probe", Sofia Quintana shares many of the same qualities as Quera does -- she's curious, smart, and easily confused by her "fellow humans" who are illogical. Naturally, she denies being an alien, and only somtimes slips by referring to "Earthlings" or "hoo-mons." She likes wordplay although she's actually quite bad at it, and makes a lot of bad jokes or puns that come off more as "incurably dorky" rather than "this is an alien from another galaxy".

Curiosity:
Quera is intensely curious about the people of the planet Earth, although she's realized it's in poor taste to ask if she can dissect them or perform other scientific experimentation.

Stranger, Strange World:
Human beings are illogical. Quera is not. She doesn't understand _why_ humans choose to be illogical when they could simply decide _not_ to be. This, like many other Earth customs, confuses her. Despite her years of study, she has little practical experience when it comes to dealing with human culture.

"probe" Powers:
As the human mutant "Probe", Sofia Quintana's (feigned) powerset is "bio-data analysis" with a slight bit of technopathy: she can use the tools on her toolbelt as focuses to analyze the physical state of a creature and determine if it is healthy or in need of medical care. Presumably with training of her "mutant power" she wouldn't need the "crutch" of these obviously kitbashed tools.

11th Level Intellect:
Quera is a member of an unknown alien species, known to some as "Coluans", who were conquered by the Shi'ar Empire. Her people are naturally far more intelligent than humans and most other sentients. She has eidetic memory that allows her to remember entire libraries of information and total recall to that access that information in an instant. She can also perform multiple complex computations in her head simultaneously.

Biochemistry:
Quera is a genius-level biochemist, trained on an alien world with access to technology far beyond that commonly found on 21st Century Earth.

Linguistics:
Viewing languages as just applied mathematics, Quera is skilled at translation and code-breaking, and has taught herself to speak English, Spanish, Skrullos, and Tagalog.

Medicine:
Quera is trained in basic first aid for any number of alien species as well as universally applicable talents in chemistry and surgery.

Quera's belt contains a number of kitbashed high-tech devices that she can use in various ways including:

- Interfacing with and overriding "primitive" (i.e. Earth) computers
- Simple biological scanners and scientific sensors
- A repulsion field to protect her from physical objects (but not energy beams) as well as basic flight functions and space survival

Superiority Complex:
As a non-human of a genius alien species, Quera considers herself to be superior to most people she meets, both on the planet Earth and elsewhere.

Resultingly, she tends to be overconfident and stubborn, rarely listening to others when she believes she is able to accomplish everything herself.

This is ... not a particularly *endearing* trait.
