- Kate Kane has posed:
It was just supposed to be a quiet date night for Selina and Kate. Well, in so much as it was also an attempt to stake out the newest and hottest sushi place in town to see if it was a front for Oswald "Penguin" Cobblepott's criminal organization.
Though, to be fair, the sushi was S-tier.
In any event, after leaving the restaurant the pair were attacked in civilian guise by ninjas from the Foot Clan. While they didn't have any utility belts or fancy tricks, they still had their training, and thanks to the timely arrival of the OG Batgirl, they fought of the ninjas. Selina went back to her place, and Kate, a bit banged up from the fight, is currently sitting in the Clocktower Infirmary, dressed to the nines from her date and looking...
Well, let's be honest, she's looking a bit cheesed off at the one time she's /not/ patrolling to be ruined by freaking ninjas.
- Barbara Gordon has posed:
It had been quite a night. Babs was probably going to need a few of them off, after it too. She wasn't badly beat up, but she did have what would likely turn in to some bruises where her armor was a bit less effective to absorb kinetic energy. All the tech in the world, and a baseball bat still did what a baseball bat did to some parts of her body, afterall.
But she was up, walking, and that was all that mattered to her. In fact, after she'd gotten out of her suit, she'd made her way up to find Kate in the infirmary. The Birds of Prey had a volunteer doctor, and a few medics, all female, and all willing to aid the Birds, and keep quiet about any secrets learned while doing so. These were people Babs had vetted, and she trusted.
But none were in house tonight.
Dressed in a sleeveless black top, and black sports trousers, Babs made her way in on sneakereed feet, her red hair tied back. "How you holding up? Did you need me to call someone in? If you took any shots to the head, we really should do some CTE tests..." She stated, as she came closer, to inspect her friend with her own two green eyes, giving her a thorough ocular pat down.
- Kate Kane has posed:
Kate sighs, "I'm fine, really... I should go check on Sel, honestly." She starts to sit up, then winces, "Shit, well, in a second. Think that jackass with the san jie gun popped a rib." She grimaces and shakes her head.
"Don't think those jerks were with the Penguin, though... or at least, if he figured out that was Selina staking out his new sushi bar with me, he'd have focused more on her instead of me." She frowns, thinking about it as her left arm looks a little... off. As if the shoulder is also dislocated.
"But they called me out by name. Oh hell, I hope these aren't more idiots that think I'm some 'daughter of Caine' prophecy nonsense." She sighs and shakes her head, "Especially since most of them came after me with blunt weapons."
- Barbara Gordon has posed:
Babs moved toward the cabinet to get some first aid equipment out of a few shelving units. She smirked to what she heard Kate saying, as her eyes glanced over to the woman on the patient table. "I hate to say it, but Selina is a bit better of a fighter than you and I, when out of our suits. She's had to rely on a lot less body armor, in a fight. You and I? We're used to having the armor as a bit of a backup, let alone a tool in its own right. Try going for a fore arm block, when your guard is not there to help? Lucky if your forearm isn't snapped in two..."
She had a few items out, and had some surgical gloves on her hands, just for procedure.
Babs approached her friend, holding a little pen light up. She moved in to shine it in Kate's eyes, getting up close to peer inside each one. The pen light lit up Kate's face, shining nice and annoyingly bright. When she finished, she released her thumb hold on the top of Kate's cheek, having pressed either down a bit. "Your shoulder, I think it is out of alignment. I should probably help you get that back in place." Babs said, as the pen was set aside. "You ready for that?" She asked, as she would help Kate get in to a better position to do what needed to be done. "Here, slip the jacket off." She asked too, as she offered to take it, to set it aside.
"I've been so focused on Two Face's goons, that I have let lax my upkeep on tracking local ninja cells." She said, in a bit of a sarcastic fashion.
- Kate Kane has posed:
Kate sighs, "Yeah, I need to track Cass down and get her to bounce me around the training area for practice. Definitely was out of practice fighting those guys. Even though I was in heels." She smiles wryly, "And go ahead." On the bright side, the eyes are clear and no sign of a concussion, but she was careful enough to avoid any serious head hits.
"But yeah, same. Selina and I have been working on stopping these human traffickers... haven't even noticed these ninja clans moving in now. Plus, I found out that Braddock Enterprises is moving into Gotham. Or rather, /re-opening/. Apparently they've had a facility here that's starting back up and the current head of the business is coming over to oversee things."
- Barbara Gordon has posed:
Once Kate was laying down on the patient table, Babs loomed over her, her medical gloved hands touching lightly on the woman's shoulder. "Have these guys figured out who you are, out of the cowl?" Babs asked, her voice barely above a whisper, as she was setting to work on prelim for guaging just how much force it was going to take to get Kate's shoulder back in socket. "I hate that they tracked you two down... I should have had a drone on you guys." She said, casually tossing out the insinuation that she surveils her friends on dates. For protection, of course... and that is it.
Babs sighed softly, and pulled back. She turned to a panel beside the door, and keyed it on, down to the garage where she had left her fight companion for the night. Jason had driven back to the tower with them, and was left downstairs, running the repairs and maintenance on their vehicles. "Jason. Can you come up to the infirmary? I need your muscles." She said, a dry voice, but one that would surely peak his attention.
When she turned back to Kate, she walked over to a ice box in the cabinet, and pulled out a couple ice packs for what was to become the aftermath of this. "Hold still, I'll put a few bandages on your cuts in the mean time..."
She did just so, steping back to Kate's side, bandages being utilized, even little bandaids, that were REALLY sticky.
"Such a pretty dress too." Babs said dryly, showing Kate a soft smirk, as she worked.
- Kate Kane has posed:
Kate rolls her eyes, "Pretty sure they haven't, I mean... it's /possible/, but I'm better at being a party animal than Bruce is." Mainly because she actually is, whereas Bruce is faking it. Or at least, she was before taking up the cowl herself. And she's the one they'd least suspect.
She lays back and looks wryly at Kate, "And the dress is expendable. To be honest, I was planning on getting rid of it in a far more /entertaining/ matter later tonight, but well, I wasn't planning on being attacked by a ton of ninjas, either." She wrinkles her nose.
- Jason Todd has posed:
Jason Todd looked up as if seeing through the many floors to where Barbara and Kate are, as Barbara requests his help.
Looking back to his now greasy hands and a partially disassembled Rollikin Rod where it connects to the Gear Shifter Valve his only reply is worthy of Lurch:
He grunts acknowledgement and leaves the parts as they are, grabbing a tube of cleaning gel to get a start on the grease. Odds are he's going to need his hands sterilized when he gets up there anyway.
- Barbara Gordon has posed:
Babs was doing a bit of cleaning herself. Brushing some alcohol swabs over Kate's cuts and scrapes, while listening closely to the other woman. "You and Selina are getting pretty close then?" Babs asked, glancing up to her friend, and giving her a even smile, her pink lips curving up at their corners. "How is that going?" She inquired, trying to keep Kate's mind off of the stinging, that she was undoubtedly feeling.
Once she had the bandages set, Babs stepped back, and pulled her gloves off, rolled them inside out, and dropped them in the basket for such items. She was not as good of a medic as the ones she had on standby, but she was confident they could handle the injuries Kate was facing.
"My drones are tracking the Ninja that booked it from the park. If they come back with any leads on where we can find these guys, I think you'll be ready to go investigate it with me, say, four or five days? I think you should take a load off until then. Selina made it home safe, of course. Nobody can slink around like her, as we all know." She smirked softly, as she leaned on the counter, waiting for her Nurse to arrive.
- Kate Kane has posed:
Kate chuckles, "Pretty good. Too good, honestly. This is about the time where I do something completely stupid and blow it. Like I did with..." She pauses, then coughs a bit, "Yeah, well, anyway. Hopefully I can convince her to slink back to the penthouse if I'm grounded for two or three days."
Yeah, she's Bruce's cousin alright. Because she /absolutely/ heard four or five days.
She just completely ignored it. But at least she acknowledged something!
- Jason Todd has posed:
Stepping out of the elevator, Jason is still wearing his armor, but left his helmet in the garage. Shrugging off the armored jacket and tossing it across the back of the nearest chair, he heads for the wash basin while pulling the underarmor's sleeves to his forearms. Liberally foaming up with the antiseptic scrubbin' bubbles, he washes thoroughly and then grabs a fresh towel to dry off as he turns to look at Kate.
"I've seen worse" he offers. Not that Kate necessarily looks amazing with a dislocated shoulder. But..
Walking over, he looks to Barbara and waits for instructions. Probably one of the few times from one of the few people he'd defer to like this.
- Barbara Gordon has posed:
"I'm just excited to see you excited." Babs said, as she watched Kate's face, showing her a sincere smile. With Jason arriving moments later, she didn't have a chance to speak more on it, as they had more pressing issues. With Jason coming in, Babs afforded him a soft smile too, while he cleaned up.
"I think it best if you hold her steady on the table, while I put it back where it belongs." She said, knowing that Jason was all too familiar with this kind of thing himself.
She stepped toward Kate, and offered her a light touch of care, before she found her place on her side, and waited for Jason to do the same on the other. She knew Kate was well aware of what to expect, but still, Babs stared down at her with a serious look. "You wanna catch a movie some time?" She asked, as her hands lightly took hold of the other woman's arm. "I hear there is a weird ass sci fi zombie flick coming out this Friday. Zombie outbreak on a space cruise ship headed back to Earth? Sounds like my kind of bullshit... In fact, it has that actress we like in it too, you know the one, Sidney whats her face, with the big boo--"
Babs struck, squeezing tightly and quickly popping Kate's arm back where it belonged!
- Kate Kane has posed:
Kate snorts, "It takes more than that to be a good act-AH!" She gasps at the arm snaps into place, a bit too easily, since well... this definitely isn't Kate's first rodeo, then she grins, "Thanks Babs. And thanks Jason. Glad to see you too. But hey, you should see the other guys. Damn ninjas, I swear." She shakes her head, "No respect for date night anymore."
She winces, "Still can't believe I let the one guy in that close." She hmmms, "Though, I suppose I need to take Selina back to that sushi place to make up for how this turned out." She chuckles. "No ninjas this time, though. Hopefully."
- Jason Todd has posed:
Jason Todd nods to Barbara, "Okay." There wasn't much need for excessive conversation at the moment; then again he's probably in his own brooding sort of mood since someone in the Family's been hurt.
He looks at Barbara curiously as she describes this new bullshit sort of movie, a brow raised. He knows she loves scifi but to hear her call it bullshit? That's curious to him. But then she sets Kate's shoulder and maybe it was all just part of the distraction.
Doing his part, he helps keep Kate still and steadied till she's recovered from the surge of pain in the moment. when he's sure she's not going to collapse he steps back.
"Taking Selina to a sushi place...?" The jokes practically write themselves. Somehow he manages to not make any of them. Probably because he knows Kate could still come close to kicking his ass even with a recently reset shoulder.
- Barbara Gordon has posed:
With them both holding her, Babs is confident that Kate won't move and instantly re-injure herself. The pop came, and she felt it settle properly. Her green eyes were right on Kate's, gauging her friend's reaction, before she had a smile cross her lips again. "I think that did the trick..." She said, a bit breathless, since that was a little intense. "I've never done one of those before." She admits, though she did it with the confidence suggesting she was some kind of old pro. She reached up to press the back of her knuckles lightly, and affectionately to the side of Kate's face, before she stepped away, and patted Jason on his shoulder as she moved past him to get one of the ice packs.
"Cat jokes aside, if you guys want a surveilence suite following you around, just ask. I'll have them hang back when appropriate, but... if this is a thing now, I think you two need some peace of mind, while you're out on the town. I know it feels a bit Big Sister, but, I just want to make sure you don't fall in to some kind of an escalating trap, Kate. If you've pissed off the wrong people, they are bound to strike again. Next time, they might forgo the pajamas, and just use more conventional means of killing someone..."
She presented two ice packs, and a smile. "I think you're set though, for now, at least."
- Kate Kane has posed:
Kate grins wryly, "Well, not /too/ close. I mean, I still have my comlink on me Babs. Even on nights off." She sits up slowly, gingerly testing the shoulder and nodding, "Yeah, well, you could have fooled me that it was your first time. Handled it like a pro." She chuckles a bit ruefully, "Never fun, but after enough times it just pops back in easy enough."
She then gives Jason a wry look, "Well, Oswald Cobblepott owns the place. We were scouting to see what exactly he might be doing with it. Besides." She paused, and then gave him a grin, "We both love sushi, and the fish /is/ S-tier there."
- Jason Todd has posed:
Jason Todd watches and nods to Barbara. Does he know this was her first shoulder relocation? Probably not. He's done it more times for himself than he can count and probably just assumes everyone has.
He smirks to Kate about the place being owned by Cobblepot. "Hey. If anyone knows sushi.." again the jokes write themselves so he just smirks.
Instead he offers toward the two redheads, "We should all go catch this movie. Sounds like a perfect popcorn movie. Turn off reality and just be entertained for a few hours."
- Barbara Gordon has posed:
Barbara spent a few moments cleaning up the aftermath of the first aid treatment. She had the kit slipped back in to its proper place, and the counter space cleared off. Her hands were run beneath the stream of water over the sink basin, and she dried them off with a paper towel from the silver dispensor. As she padded her hands, she looked toward the two of them, and grinned softly. "I can see if it has hit the internet already?" She asked, glancing between them. "If you two would like to rather watch it in the comfort of my plush leather furniture, rather than some theater of questionable cleanliness?"
She grinned, because she knew what she just implied. "Unless you two narks are gonna cuff me for sailing the high seas for movies online?" She teased, as she tossed the damp paper towel, and retrieved Kate's jacket. "Come on, lets go see how the drones faired on their tracking of those pajama ninja..." She stated, heading for the doorway.
- Kate Kane has posed:
Kate laughs, "Sounds like a plan, and I definitely could use a good mindless romp to deal with this. Tomorrow night, maybe." She stands up, moving a bit stiffly with the popped rib, and grins over at Jason, "And yeah, well, this IS Gotham City, I'm pretty sure there's something in the zoning laws that they have to obey the tropes." She winks at him, then takes her jacket back from Babs, shrugging it on. "Though, let's plan for tomorrow night? Tonight, I'm going to see if I can track down a certain feline and offer some measure of apology for how the night went." Her lips curl into a wry smile at that.
- Jason Todd has posed:
Jason Todd looks at Barbara, "You sure you didn't hit your head while we were out there? You're calling -me- a Narc?" he asks incredulously with a smirk. "Don't make me tell your dad." Which he won't because the last person he wants to get a 'talk' from right now is Barbara's dad. For many reasons.
"I'm good watching here, or going to a theater. There's something about seeing a movie as it was intended to be viewed. But only some movies. Others are just as good where it's comfortable."
As Kate gets ready to go he nods to her. "Ten days bedrest, you heard the Doc." Because he knows she's going to massively undersell her recovery time. He does. "Either way, take care. You need anything, you know where to find us" he offers, the long scar across his face tugs at the left side of his mouth to make his smile quirky and crooked as he shifts to stand next to Barbara, lightly nudging her in the ribs.
