The Aesir is the formal name for the combined residents of Asgard. After Ragnarok, Asgard and Vanaheim struggled for limited resources. The two peoples ended up joining into a unified nation after Vanaheim became un-inhabitable. There is significant cultural cross-pollination between the groups.
