Phear

Phear is the street name for a novel amphetamine that triggers hyperreceptivity in NMDA glutamate receptors, the chemical signal closely associated with a psychological fear response. The effect is an intense adrenaline spike, leading into euphoric hyperactivity after initial onset. Chemical examination strongly suggests it may be derived from (or produced alongside) Jonathan Crane's 'Fear Toxin'.

Phear is distributed solely in Gotham City and the surrounding areas by the drug gang known as the Escabedos.
