Sublime is a villainous member of the covert kill squad of GenActives knowns as DV8. While despising the cruelty she's forced to unleash under orders, her fear of her leaders, particularly Ivana Baiul, keep her obedient and fearful.

Timeline

Timeline:
2001: Rachel's biological parents, photojournalist Susan Goldman and mercenary Michael "Deathblow" Cray meet in Afghanistan and are intimate after fighting off insurgent attackers. Cray disappears without a word afterwards, leaving Susan only his lighter to remember him by. A pregnant Susan returns to Chicago, where she gives birth to Rachel. Susan and her mother manufacture a story that Rachel has been adopted by Susan to avoid scandal.

2002 - Susan meets and marries successful =businessman David Rosenberg, who becomes Rachel's stepfather.

2002-2017 - Rachel is raised in a wealthy home, frequently traveling with her parents around the world. She attends an expensive private boarding school where she is one of the popular mean girls of the school. She learns to speak fluent Russian, and is strongly into jeet kune do, becoming an expert with the three part staff.

2017 - Rachel's mother reveals to her the truth about her one night stand with Cray, at first causing Rachel to think her mother was ashamed of her. The two make up and Susan gives Rachel Cray's lighter as a memento.

2017-2019 - As Rachel approaches high school graduation, she begins to repeatedly clash with her parents over college. Her parents refuse to pay for it unless she stays with them in Illinois. Rachel attends Northwestern University, but chafes at the restrictions.

2020 - Rachel receives an offer for a full scholarship to Project Genesis, which billed itself a special "enrichment program" for the gifted. Without telling her parents, Rachel accepts, seeing it as a way to escape their increasingly smothering attention.

2020-2021 - To her dismay, Rachel discovers she is a prisoner at Project Genesis, which turns out to actually be a facility attempting to bring out GenActive traits from the children of the previous Gen12, such as her father Deathblow. Rachel expresses her power of density control when an out of control classmate attacks her, turning her arm diamond hard to avoid being slashed.

2021 - Rachel is unwillingly recruited into Ivana Baiul's covert GenActive kill squad, DV8, consisting of other young metahumans kept in line through harsh training and fear of Baiul's retribution.

Personality

Confident:
Rachel knows she's damned good, both mentally and physically, and that her power gives her a significant advantage if it comes to a fight. She doesn't lack for self confidence, though sometimes it verges on arrogance.

Hardened:
Enduring years of torturous training and cruel conditioning has hardened up the spoiled rich girl that Rachel used to be. She has the mindset of a veteran soldier, and will do what she needs to do to survive.

Hedonist:
Given her situation, Rachel practices an uncaring way of life, not thinking about the future, only living in the moment by indulging whatever pleases her. She knows that she's at best an expendable pawn of DV8, and that it's possible she'll be sacrificed to Baiul's goals during any mission, especially if they fail her.

Mean Girl:
Rachel was the queen bee of her school, and has a strong sense of being on top when it comes to any social hierarchy due to her physical and mental attributes. She has a tendency to be arrogant and even sometimes cruel to those she considers less than her, particularly when it comes to snark. Being able to put others down makes her feel a bit better about her situation as effectively a slave of DV8. She is also more than a little bit of a diva.

Density Control:
Rachel is able to adjust the molecular density of her body at will. She can reduce her density enough to be out of phase with the rest of the world, allowing her to harmlessly pass through solid, liquid, or gaseous material, as well as ignoring most energy attacks such as fires or lasers. In this form, she has no mass or weight. Alternately, she can increase her density to make her body diamond hard and extremely difficult to physically damage through impacts. When phased, she does not need to breathe, allowing her to ignore airless, hazardous, underground, and underwater environments. Her training has allowed her to adjust the density of different parts of her body to be low or high density, but when doing so there is always a midpoint that remains normal density, allowing her to be harmed by an opponent who hits her in the right place. When phased, she is capable of interacting with other phased individuals normally, allowing her to attack or defend against them.

Hyperdense Strength:
When making her body ultra dense, Sublime's strength is enhanced to superhuman levels, up to the ability to lift 20 tons.

Touch Density Control:
Rachel is able to adjust not just her own density, but the density of objects or people she touches. This allows her to carry her equipment, weapon, and clothes into a phased or ultra dense state with her. It requires greater effort depending on the mass she is trying to affect, and she can only affect objects that are either in contact with her skin or touching what she is touching. At any point that an object or person loses physical contact through this chain, they immediately revert to normal density. Rachel can selectively choose what in contact with her is affected, such as affecting equipment but not the person holding it, and can choose to selectively adjust what is ultra dense or phased, though it takes a lot more effort and cannot be maintained as long when she's trying to do both. She has enough control to take a small group of people or a single small vehicle like a car or truck into this state, as examples.

Rachel had an excellent education at one of the best of private schools, and the beginnings of a good college education before Project Genesis got hold of her. She has a good range of knowledge on a wide series of topics and academic discipline, though she's not an expert.

Jeet Kune Do:
Rachel is a master martial artist in Jeet Kune Do, particularly fighting with a three piece rod, her preferred weapon.

Leadership:
Rachel is an effective leader, with a good grasp of small unit tactics, enough that she is sometimes put in charge of DV8 subteams or allowed to operate on her own.

Multilingual:
In addition to English, Rachel speaks Russian and Japanese fluently, and can speak French and Spanish passably well.

Posh:
Rachel comes from an affluent background and is in the know when it comes to current fashion and style, as well as the lives of the rich and famous.

Willpower:
Rachel has endured incredibly torturous training and personality conditioning at the hands of Ivana Baiul and her trainers as an unwilling member of DV8, yet has retained a core of herself that has kept her from becoming one of the sociopathic psychotics that many of her teammates have become. She still fears Baiul enough that she will follow her orders without questioning them overtly, but she has the strength of will to defy those orders in little ways where she can. This translates to being more difficult to mentally dominate than your average person.

Dv8:
Rachel as Sublime is part of the covert kill unit of Genactives created by Ivana Baiul. As such, she often has both other DV8 members and mercenaries hired by Baiul as backup. While she doesn't exactly trust much of the rest of DV8, recognizing them as sociopaths or psychotics, she does consider some of them friends, or even to be protected as much as she can in her current circumstances.

Equipment:
In addition to her costume and preferred three piece rod, Rachel can draw on a variety of advanced equipment that DV8 has access to through Ivana Baiul's contacts with a variety of government, cover, and black market sources, such as communicators, firearms, explosives, and intrusion gear.

Broken:
Rachel has been subjected to horrible training and torment as a member of DV8 for years, and forced to do all manner of horrible things under orders. This has driven her to the depths of depression more than once, to where she even attempted to commit suicide once to escape the hell that her life had become. Her terror over what Baiul would do to her if she ever really resisted her orders drives her obedience. On the other hand, the constant fear and torment has hardened her, enough that a core of resistance and even rebellion exists, even if it's buried deep.

Density Weakness:
While Rachel can freely change her body density from phasing through objects to being diamond hard, doing both requires that a part of her body between the two gradients remain at normal density, giving her a weak point observant opponents can take advantage of by hitting her there.

Dv8:
Most teams form around members that trust and respect each other. DV8, by comparison, were all forced into being a team by Ivana Baiul, after training and personality conditioning that turned many of them into monsters. Rachel might have to work with them, but she truly doesn't like most of them, and certainly doesn't trust them not to betray her to benefit themselves should the chance arise. At best, the team is held together by mutual fear of Baiul, their leaders, and a desire to survive.

Destruction and Deviants	April 11th, 2022	DV8 goes in for the kill with gleeful orders from Ivana to leave a trail of bodies behind as a message. With a plan of attack and assets in place, the Deviants go to hit some heroes in Hell's Kitchen. They give a brutal gut punch.. But take some hard hits back as they have to flee. They have several pissed off heroes now.. And worst of all for DV8, a very pissed off Ivana. More to come as the freaky lady's plans haven't been toppled, just set back. She has far more screws to twist to bring people to the depths of despair and darkness. So be ready for the next time we plunge.. Into Deviancy and what dwells in the depths of sinister minds.
