Timeline

Timeline:
* Backstory: It is unknown when the creation of the viscus liquid species that Essix is occurred, even the Assembly doesn't know when they began. The Assembly is the mass of individual consciousnesses melded together into one as a mass of liquid as large as Earth's oceans. There is no spoken word or title for this species as they have no spoken language of their own. They communicate via electrical impulse signals through their liquid form by touching one another, or melding with each other to share complete life experiences. Procreation is literally a decision of the whole of the race, with a piece of each offered to form the new consciousness.

* 1600ish: The Assembly creates one hundred new consciousnesses, one of which is the 'birth' of Essix'. These one hundred are placed in transportation pods and was sent out into the universe to become explorers and information gatherer for their people.

* 2013: An asteroid the size of a small building flies over Russia, and disintegrates only 20 km above the ground, causing a large number of meteorites to scatter over the Russian city of Chelyabinsk. At this time, softball sized, meteor looking pod containing Essix 'crashes' to the earth in Alaska. Discovered hours later by a research team, it is transported to the University of Fairbanks for study. Unusual readings from the 'meteor' that match nothing else get the meteor sent to California Institute of Technology's space program.

* 2014: The meteor pod begins being transferred around from place to place, some how ending up at the American Museum of Natural History in storage room B3.

* 2022: Aware that the pod was moved from the storage room but only knowing the voice of the one who took it, Essix observes the new location of the pod from safely inside. Listening to the new locations coming and going for a few days, Essix finally emerges from the pod to begin a more in depth exploration of this planet and the creatures that inhabit it.

Dedicated:
Although not completely aware of why, Essix is dedicated to new discoveries from as simple as how a can of soda is opened, to the major questions regarding the purpose of existence. This dedication also bleeds through on a personal level, with dedication being shown to the purposes of the humans she is now in contact with, as well as /to/ those people.

Inquisitive:
Due to spending so much time in a state of semi-awareness while floating through space, Essix is extremely curious about the world around. She is unaware that this nature was literally programmed into her by her people to ensure she was always actively trying to gain knowledge and information that some day they expect her to bring back to them.

Justice:
Essix has a strong sense of right and wrong, and holds others to this. She believes that justice must be served, that every wrong deserves rectification in some form or another.

Logical:
Essix approaches most all things in life with logical thinking, working through all possible angles before making a final decision on how she will act or what she will do.

Ascertain Construction:
With just a touch, Essix can discover how the thing touched is constructed. She does /not/ gain any information about the person, nothing about their possible powers, no ability to read their mind or learn their personality. She only learns how they are constructed. Examples: With a chair, she would understand how the use of wood and cloth go together to make the chair sturdy. With a living being, she would understand the skeletal structure, how muscles are formed, the organs, etc. and how it all works together to form the living thing.

Immune To Telepathy:
There is no brain or thoughts as the human mind might perceive them to be read. Everything is electrical signals through the whole of the liquid.

Impervious:
Due to her natural liquid nature, projectiles such as bullets, thrown blades, and arrows, as well piercing and slashing weapons have no effect on her. She takes no damage from blunt force trauma or falling, she could be hit by an 18-wheeler and ooze away. Furthermore, she does not need to eat or drink, nor does she breathe. She can survive and even move in the vacuum of space and underwater. A secondary effect of this is that should she surround someone in herself, they gain protection against blunt force trauma, but things that could penetrate her would still do damage. Example: A spear that would completely passes through her would still hit the person she encases.

Shapechanger:
Essix is from an alien species whose natural form is a pale blue viscus liquid. She can take the form of any living or inanimate object she desires, literally becoming a an exact carbon copy of the item or thing. She can assume a form as small as a golf ball, up to the size of a bus, flowing from one form to the other as easily as water moves.

Superior Strength:
In her natural form, or when mimicking other items such as rope or cable, Essix's species is fairly strong in terms of tensile strength. She can easily wrap herself around someone to hold them in place for as long as is needed. Though untested, she might even be able to hold a super strength person for a very short time.

Body Language:
From literally months and months of observing human beings in every possible aspect of their lives, Essix is able to 'read' the language of the body. She can ascertain intent, lies, deception, pain, sadness, and other emotions that may not be revealed through words by the person being observed. She may not always be 100% correct, but she is usually close enough to make people she calls out uncomfortable with her accuracy.

Photographic Memory:
Everything that Essix sees, hears, smells, etc. she remembers to the finest details. Time, dates, locations, people, anything relating to that memory can be recalled with a moment of concentration. This also applies to things such as learning, reading books, and watching instructional videos.

Energy and Electricity:
Application of high voltage or energy blasts disrupt the natural flow of electrical impulses through the viscus liquid, forcing her to revert to her liquid state.

Regeneration:
Every 36 to 40 hours, Essix must return to her liquid state for a minimum of six hours. During this time she is aware of her surroundings but cannot assume any form, move, or communicate.

To Fire:
Contact with fire does serious levels of visible damage to Essix. Recovering from fire damage requires extra hours spent in her liquid form, and a large enough fire could in fact kill her.

They sabotage the ship, subdue the crew, and ultimately tie a delightful little bow on a mass of drugs destined for the streets of Gotham. It's a great bust for the GCPD!
