The mantle of the Iron Fist is a title passed on by one worthy successor to another. The Iron Fist hails from the mystical city of [[[K'un-Lun]]] on the border of Nepal and China and is considered one of the purest conduits of [[[chi]]] in the world.
It is the duty of the Iron Fist to defend the city of K'un-Lun against hostile invaders. K'un-Lun is a nexus point for the [[[New Gods]]] of the Chinese pantheons. From K'un-Lun a person can travel freely to [[[Tian]]] and other mystical locations.
The Iron Fist is empowered by the deity of K'un-Lun to defend that city. In particular the Iron Fist is required to return to K'un-Lun every 88 years and compete as one of the Immortal Weapons in a grand tournament. Rankings in the tournament significantly affects the [[[harmony]]] of the [[[Seven Capital Cities]]] and determines their status over one another for the following decades.
