Dashenka is a teenaged mutant, a were polar bear, who was kidnapped at an early age and sent through the Red Room to be trained as a supersoldier. Recently liberated from her fate as a child soldier, she has come to New York and as Xaviers to try to adjust to civilian life. Hopefully she'll be able to learn to put her past behind her and live as a normal teenager.

Timeline

Timeline:
2004 Dashenka was born to Nona Ivanov, father unknown.

2010 Dashenka starts feeling unwell, and is taken to the hospital. There they discover that she is a mutant.

2010 The Red Room finds Dashenka and whisks her away from the hospital, telling her mother that there was a complication and that she died.

2011 Dashenka starts intensive training and brainwashing causing her to forget her mother and her past, so all she knows now is the Red Room.

2015 Dashenka's mutant ability activates, and she starts receiving specialized training to work with her strengths.

2018 Despite her youth, Dashenka goes on her first mission successfully.

2019-2021 Dashenka continues to go on regular military missions, all successful. Training in the Red Room continues.

2021 The children in the Red Room are liberated, including Dashenka.

2021 Dashenka is placed in a foster home to try to help her integrate into normal society. She doesn't do so well, so after a few months, they transfer her to Xavier's since they have a reputation with handling kids with issues.

Personality

Blunt:
Dashenka has zero subtlety to her. She says exactly what is on her mind with little thought or care with how it may be received.

Gentle:
Despite her large size and bestial nature, she's quite gentle. She handles the world like it's all breakable.

Kind:
Somewhere, deep down below all the conditioning, lies a kind hearted girl who just wants to see everybody smile. Hopefully, with time, we will see more of this side of her emerge.

Obedient:
In the military you don't question your superior officer. Now in the civilian life, she unquestioningly follows the requests of anybody she views as superior to her. Teachers, councilors, even senior students.

Proud:
Despite knowing that she had been used by the Russian government in a very illegal way, she is proud of her accomplishments. The kinds of feats that she had been able to pull off are noteworthy and she regrets few of her actions.

Stoic:
Years of training has taught her to hide her emotions. One might mistakenly think she /has/ none but the reality is that she's just learned to hide them well.

Claws:
Holy hell, have you ever actually /looked/ at a polar bears claws? They're bigger than most knives, and sharp as hell. She can easily rend inch thick steel with these things. Her human form has no equivalent though.

Cold Resistance:
In polar bear form, Dashenka is highly resistant to cold, able to go days in sub zero temperatures. Human form, not so much. She can stand in a freezer for a day, at most.

Enhanced Durability:
In polar bear form, her skin is akin to that of thick kevlar armor, able to withstand small arms fire without breaking the skin. In human form her skin is tough, but not that tough. It can easily absorb punches and kicks without bruising.

Enhanced Senses:
In polar bear form, Dashenka's sense of smell is greater than that of any dog, able to pick up trace scents in the most unlikeliest of places. In human form, her smell is about as good as your average dog.

Enhanced Strength:
In polar bear form she's able to easily lift cars and throw them around. Larger cars and trucks she'll have difficulty with. In human form she's about five times as strong as peak human strength.

Regeneration:
In both bear and human form, she has the ability to heal quickly from wounds. For example, it'll take a day to heal a broken bone, cuts heal in under an hour.

Were Polar Bear:
Dashenka's main ability is to be able to shapeshift into an 8 foot tall upright polar bear like creature, and is just as comfortable and mobile on four legs just as she is on two. Her paws are dexterous and has opposable thumbs which allows her to handle objects, though nothing that requires any kind of delicate work. Due to some experimenting, the Red Room was able to transfer some polar bear traits over into her human form.

Combat Training:
Dashenka has had intesne combat training for both her human and polar bear forms. She's about average with other Red Room trainees, with her style matching her immense strength.

Firearms:
Even though she never personally used them out in the field, Dashenka has been trained in a wide assortment of firearms, from small arms to larger caliber weapons. She's no marksman, though. Her training focused more on melee than ranged skills.

Iron Willed:
Partially due to training and partially due to natural stubbornness, Dashenka has a very strong will. She can put herself in the mindset where pain means little to her, and can wall away her emotions and thoughts that could get in the way of a mission.

Military Vehicle Training:
She's had exhaustive training in how to drive military vehicles. Cars, trucks, APCs, and any manner of wheeled vehicles she's able to operate. Get her behind anything else and she can probably quickly figure it out.

Tactics:
She has a fundamental understanding of military tactics, useful for being out in the field. She's not clever enough to be giving orders, but has the background in it to understand the logic behind the orders given to her.

Shield:
Since Dashenka is a rescue from the Red Room, SHIELD has several resources for her. They're supporting her in addition to what Xavier's School does, give her a modest stipend to spend as personal money, and have given her a legal identity for the United States.

Xaviers:
She's a student at Xavier's school, which gives her access to everything a normal student would have there, plus teachers and councilors to help her to reintegrate back into society.

Weaknesses

Anachronistic:
They had no time for popular media in the Red Room, so references to such and things we take for granted will just sail over her head. The only technology that she's been allowed to have have been all military based, so while she understands what a cell phone is, and what it's basic functions are, snapchat would be an entirely new experience for her.

Conditioned:
Dashenka has forgotten her life before the Red Room. It's all she knows. Now that her conditioning isn't being reinforced, memories will slowly start coming back, but for right now she's tabula rasa.

Guileless:
Dashenka has little to no experience with subtext. It's not that she doesn't understand metaphor or idioms, its just that she takes everything people say at face value. While this is handy in the Red Room, out in civilian life this will cause her some amount of trouble.

Heat:
Dashenka is very sensitive to warm weather. She gets heat exhaustion easily in 90+ degree weather without a way to cool down. Even normal room temperature is uncomfortable to her.

Lost:
For most of her life, Dashenka has been a barge in a canal. All the decisions have been made for her. Now she's raft lost in an ocean of choices. When confronted with making a personal choice, she tends to freeze in indecision.

Temper:
Living the civilian life is frustrating, and Dashenka hasn't been given the tools to be able to handle it in a constructive way. Usually she lets it all build up inside until it just comes pouring out in a dangerous fit of temper.
