Tomie Kawakami has posed:
There have been leads.

Oh, sure. They haven't panned out. A disappearance here with an associated rumor when the kid turns up fine a week later on their own, an urban legend there that winds up just being something some kids made up thatw one time for creepy pasta on the internet that had a passing chance at being true.

A lot of reasonable investigations that go nowhere. It's exactly what Chas was warned about. Most things just aren't going to go anywhere. The world may be full wondrous, savage, joyous, awful, and joyously awful things, but most of them are none of the above. They're just ... things. Things that happened. Mundane things.

Finally, however, there is an email. It pops up in Chas' box from a disposable email address from 'River'. Attached is a video file.

Chas Chandler has posed:
Chas has been getting tired of the empty leads and he's about ready to blow this one off. But what else could he do tonight. He shrugs and settles down to open the email and the attached file. Something about it itches at the back of his mind.

"What the hell. Might as well check this one out too. At least until Jon is ready to discuss what he's found in the note..." He clicks the video file and watches, his blue eyes intent for anything that stands out.

Tomie Kawakami has posed:
It's grainy, distorted video. Low quality, but enough to see that it's the front of an office building. People are coming and going. Mostly going. The time stamp shows a late hour, when it's even readable.

A woman with dark hair is seen making her way into the elevator. A while later, another person comes to the elevator and presses the call button. It opens. They stop, dropping the paper bag they're carrying, before stumbling back and then turning to run. The reaction of seeiung something horrific is hard to mistake. The video continues, anda little later they reappear, this time with police officers. They open the elevator door and ....don't seem to see anything at all. In fact, given the reaction of the officers, they seem to be rather upset at this turn of events.

Chas Chandler has posed:
Chas watches and then sends an email to the dummy mail River uses for correspondence. "How long ago was this? And is there any more information, a statement or testimony from the woman about what she believes she saw?" he asks before sending the email away.

He sits and contemplates the video, before watching it again. Elevators are tricky things. Closed spaces, and a number of exits beyond the doors themselves. He didn't like the thought of trying to operate inside one of them.

Tomie Kawakami has posed:
A response is prompt.

"Two weeks ago. The witness swore that there was a gorey mess within the elevator, yet when they officers arrived, there was nothing. I tried to identify the woman who went into the elevator in the first place, but no one has been able to so far, and she never appears again on any other of the buildings security cameras from what I understand."

Chas Chandler has posed:
Chas sighs. "Nothing for it then..." he says and then goes to retrieve the goggles and earpiece that keep him in communication with River. Slipping both on he turns on the earpiece and tests. "It would be rather foolish of me to put these on if you aren't even there..."

He switches on the goggles as well and then moves to the balcony of the apartment he shares with Asariel at the Throne's art complex. The garden is done elaborately as a garden, complete with a koi pond. He ignore most of it and moves to the railing that signals the edge of the building.

Tomie Kawakami has posed:
A momentary pause. Then....

"I'm here. The building is the Brooks Office Tower in Boston."

Chas Chandler has posed:
Chas releases the hold on hi spower he keeps and a pair of silver wings unfurl from his back. River can't see them but she can hear the ruffle of feathers "Boston, huh?" he says. "Alright. Shouldn't take more than a few minutes." He jumps from the ledge of the balcony and seems like he's going to go crashing to the ground before there is another ruffle as his wings spread out and he goes soaring up into the clouds.

"I trust you'll point it out once I'm above the city?" he asks River, seeming nonplussed at the fact that he is literally flying through the clouds over New York, heading northeast at a staggering speed. "Like the last ones... I will observe and investigate. If things get too hairy, I'm bailing and coming back with backup. I don't plan on going nova to something I don't even bloody understand. Fair?" he adds.

Tomie Kawakami has posed:
There's dead silence at this.

Dead silence.

Presumably, she had no idea that he could fly. She probably muted herself out of abject confusion at what just happened.

Finally, there's a slightly stricken, "...yes, there is Boston, I think."
