A Talk With Grandfather
Date of Scene: 05 March 2023
Location: Lykaios Estate
Synopsis: Pietro gets some one on one time with his Grandfather-In-Law and starts to learn a bit more about who the Lykaios family is all about.
Cast of Characters: Micola Maximoff, Pietro Maximoff

Micola Maximoff has posed:
Micola was doing some shopping with her mother for the nursery and other things. So this had given Pietro an opportunity to go and visit with one Grandpa Lykaios. The Lykaios Estate is situated in Upstate New York with a lot of acres to keep the family business private. The security is also top notch, but Pietro is at least on the list of accepted visitors.

It doesn't take long for the white haired man to be given admittance to the house and lead to the Patriarch's office. "Sir, you have a visitor." the butler announces before he lets Pietro into the office.

Dimitri is seated behind the desk and looks up when Pietro is announced. The large man gives a smile, "Ah, Mister Maximoff, please, come in. Can we get you anything to drink?" he asks him.

Pietro Maximoff has posed:
The Prince had dressed appropriately, nice shirt, tie, all that. He'd been piecing together some of the information he'd witnessed regarding his new grandfather-in-law, and he was fairly certain he was involved in the underworld somehow. There was no real judgement from Pietro, how could he? His father was one of the more infamous mutants on Earth. Even if Pietro had turned over a new leaf with the Avengers, he had his own sordid past.

Unconcerned about armed thugs or servants, Pietro kept his motions smooth and slow. No need to spook anyone, or cause trouble in the man's home. This wasn't an unfriendly visit - but the subjects to speak on might put people on edge.

"If you have iced tea, that would be perfect." He responds with a bow of his head in respect. He was a guest here, regardless of any other status. He had no intention of disrespecting Dimitri in his home. "Thank you for allowing me some time. I wanted to discuss with you, some situations that have arisen, that you might have more information on. At the very least, they are things you will want to know."

Micola Maximoff has posed:
Dimitri was indeed one of those that exuded that appearance that his wealth was a lot and he was not uncomfortable with that. "I am guessing by the absence of my grandchild that this is not about her taking over my business." he chuckles to that. "Would you like lemon in your tea, your Highness?" he asks him. It's not said with any sarcasm or anything like that. He's very respectful in his words.

"Have a seat. Micola has not called in about a week, but I know that she has been busy with preparing for my great-grandchild's arrival and I am excited to welcome them as well." he admits as he takes a seat. "Speak freely, Pietro. You are among family." he nods to him.

Pietro Maximoff has posed:
The offered seat is accepted. "Yes, please. Lemon would be excellent." Pietro responds, settling in on the chair. "I was unaware that she was inclined to take over such an organization." He says, dancing around the obvious implications of his business. "She's out shopping with her mother for necessities for the soon to be born child." The smile on his face when talking about the baby is genuine. They still weren't aware of what the sex would be, it was going to be a surprise!

"There was a break-in at the shop, they were looking to frighten Micola." He starts, eyes on the other man, gauging his reactions. "They were sent by a man by the name of Benevito Giovanni. While it was a bit of a fright to Micola, they did no harm and at least one has been hauled off by the police."

Micola Maximoff has posed:
The man waves off one of the staffers that go to fetch Pietro's iced tea with a swiftness. He sits back and folds his hands in his lap. Relaxed, though there is a hint of tension in the man, probably just something in the air. When Pietro talks about inclination to take over an organization there is a smile from him, "I would never ask her to take over a crime business, Pietro. I put far too much into her life to have her go the route that I have went." he admits.

"I'm also very glad to see you excited about the baby. She deserves to have a good husband in her life." he adds.

He's quiet as Pietro explains what has happened and he frowns deeply, a bit of bone cracking is heard in his hands as he flexs them, "I know Benevito, yes." he tells him. "And I believe the reason for his wanting to frighten Micola is over what I am doing going forward with things." he explains. "I am leaving my company and most of my wealth to Micola in my will. This is priviledged information, but given that you are my grandson by marriage to my first grandchild then you should know that a lot of people unhappy that I am going to be giving the company over to Micola as a clean business. That means no connections to the mafia or anything that I have done in the past. Given it is a significant business, it's stirred some things." he states calmly.

Pietro Maximoff has posed:
He nods, understand his view on such things. "I hadn't truly suspected as much, Dimitri." Pietro explains. "I am no stranger to the other side of the law, as I am sure you know. My family tree is rife with it." He shrugs, not concerned or ashamed of it.

Again, the topic of their child has him grinning. "She deserves all I can give and more." He agrees. "She is a strong woman, and is someone I am in awe of." His voice rings of sincerity. "She has been through much, even in the short time I have known her."

The discussion of the changing of the guard, the passing on of the business and family wealth is paid close attention to. He's not concerned over money - but it adds a bit of danger if others are out to cause her trouble due to it. "And they come for her, as they would be foolish to come for you? Is this something that can be head off? Something that can be deterred?" He does have connections, and his own skills to apply if needed.

Micola Maximoff has posed:
"I've always tried to make sure that we didn't involve her in any of the crime elements of the family. She didn't even learn of things until a few years ago." Dimitri explains to him. "I am sure that you understand this, but I want to make sure that you know that she's not been in the criminal elements." he states. "She has been through a lot, and her father has given her grief for years. It's why my will and the future is going to be different." he comments.

"I mean, they are foolish to go after her at all as well. I take her safety very seriously. Even when I told my son that he was not my heir he didn't give me any lip over it given things." he admits. "I can head it off. I would just need to visit with Benevito and explain that if he visits her or you again that he might end up missing some limbs." he states.

Pietro Maximoff has posed:
A nod from Pietro. "I understand, and I believe you. I am sure she had a bit of trouble bringing this to me, or explaining your career. I can only imagine what she thought my reaction might be." He looks to the other man. "My father has done things that I would never wish to recount to Micola. And I have done my fair share of troubling things." A slight shrug. "It matters what we do going forward."

Another nod. "They are foolish, indeed. I think I will be visiting him as well, truth be told. I do not take kindly to my wife and child being targetted, even if it was just for a 'scare'." A slight frown at that. "I would rather they simply sit down and continue with their trade, without bothering you or our family."

Micola Maximoff has posed:
Dimitri gives a look to Pietro and there is a smile, "Our fathers can leave a mark on us that will tarnish our names and we have to work hard to get that stain off. Sadly that is not a benefit that I've had, but, I am glad that Micola has not had to deal with that. Though the absence of her father has been...difficult." he frowns. "He's wanted to make amends the last few years, but I don't think he has any right to ask that." he points out.

"If you like we could schedule a visit together? I think that making a concerted front my strike a bit more fear into them and I think that it needs to be understood that no moves towards Micola or my great-grandchild will be tolerated." he nods to this.

Pietro Maximoff has posed:
"I suspect, there are paths to take if that's something you're interested in. I think doing what you are doing, with the passing of the legitmate things, is a good thing." Pietro offers over. A thought. "Do you believe he earnestly wants to make amends or, does he have ulterior motives?" A shake of his head.

"Together would be fine. If you let me know when, we can meet there or arrange to travel together. I will assure your safety, as well, Dimitri." He offers. The rest of the meeting goes well - discussion family, names and the arranging of visits when the baby arrives. Good things!
