A Bit of Catching Up.
Date of Scene: 01 June 2023
Location: Bushwick <Mutant Town>
Synopsis: Clarice and Lydia meet up in Bushwick and they get a little caught up.
Cast of Characters: Lydia Dietrich, Clarice Ferguson

Lydia Dietrich has posed:
It's just after sundown in Bushwick, which is when all the good vampires come out. Or at least that's when Lydia does. It's time for her weekly maintenance of Baruch, the Bushwick Golem. The golem has been a mainstay, patrolling the streets of Bushwick for well over a year now, protecting its citizens and lending a helping hand whenever needed.

The golem itself is huge, over eight feet high and well over half that in width. It's humanoid shaped, but the details are more hinted at then shown. Its head has very rudimentary features. A crease for for it's mouth, a bulge for it's nose, and two deep pits that have pinpoints of amber glowing for its eyes. The thing that makes the golem unique is that it's been tagged by every street artist in the area, and sometimes beyond. Never a week goes by that the golem's paint looks the same.

For the most part, the golem needs little maintenance. Every week Lydia comes down to pick out the bullets and patch up the bullet holes and various cracks and crevasses that the golem had acquired. It's here that she can be found, singing quietly to herself, trowl in one hand, and a bucket of clay floating in her starfield beside her.

"Un az du vest kumen in a fremder shtot," she sings, her voice clear and melodic. "lyubelyu, Mayne reyd zolstu badenken; Un az du vest kumen iber a vaser, lyubelyu, Far tsores zolstu zikh nisht dertrenken."

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
Blink is dressed casually and doesn't stick out TOO much in Mutant Town this time of day, anyway. She's on the side of the street next to a porcupine man and a girl with flippers. She is ordering some noodles from the mutant noodle guy and tells him what she wants.

She takes the bowl of noodles and turns around, suddenly confronted by the huge golem and the strange music. Several people murmur to themselves as they look up at the golem. Blink wobbles and nearly drops her bowl of noodles but deftly avoids collision with a BLINK! She pops to the side with a portal that envelopes her and shunts her to the side of the golem.

Blink looks back up at the golem and smiles now as she sees Lydia there, "Lydia!" she calls out. She raises her hand and gives a wave, "Lydia!" she says again, "It's me!" she adds.

Lydia Dietrich has posed:
Lydia's sad little song gets cut short as her name gets called by a very familiar voice. "Clarice! My word, it's been too long. I'm just giving Baruch, here, his weekly patch-up. Come join me while I work!"

Assuming she does, Lydia turns back to the golem and spackles out some clay into one of the cracks that had formed in the golem's side. "So what have you been up to?" she asks. "I've been... well... keeping to myself mostly." She pauses in her spackling and says, "I know I should've been calling you but..." she shakes her head. Instead of finishing she fills her lungs with air and lets out a deep breath. "How are you?"

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
Blink smiles and walks around the golem over nearer to Lydia to join her. She observes Lydia working and smiles, apparently happy to see her friend Lydia, "I am fine!" she lets out, "Weekly patch up? Oh right. Yes, the living statue," she muses, looking up at the golem again, "Sorry! I cannot help! But I can tell you stories--- Yep, I have been helping almost everyone lately," she adds, "I guess I'm the go to gal for escorting people. Again. Do you need to go anywhere?" she wonders amusedly.

Lydia Dietrich has posed:
Lydia laughter is bright at Clarice's offer. "No, that's quite alright. It's no surprise, though. You can port people to the moon and back." She eyes her patchwork critically before dropping the trowel into the bucket floating beside her. "There. All done."

"So other than being a mutant uber, what have you been up to?" she asks. "How's... how's Mystique? Have you seen her lately?" This is dangerous ground for Lydia, after very abruptly breaking off her engagement with the leader of the Brotherhood.

"As for me, I've started writing my romances again. The Book of Lydia is still continuing to sell like woah, though." She shoots Clarice a grin. "I actually have money of my own now. It's kind of nice. The JLD keeps me busy, too." She takes a look around the place, "I miss this, though. Being with mutants. Helping them out. I feel like I've been neglecting that side of me."

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"Mutant uber," Blink chuckles, "That's funny," she adds, then hmms growing quiet and shrugs, "I haven't seen Mystique lately and nobody's asked for my help up there. The asteroid is mostly deserted. I mostly have been hanging with the X-Men and X-Force. They need the most help," she explains, then nods as she considers what Lydia says again, "Most people don't...approach me off the street. Though your big guy subs in for mister intimidating!" she chuckles.

Lydia Dietrich has posed:
Lydia gets a soft, sad smile at Blink's news about the Asteroid. "Yes. I'm not surprised after I--" she breaks herself off with a shake of the head, and her smile turns brighter. "Good for you! I'm glad those over at Xavier's have welcomed you back. I thought about seeing if I could teach over there, but there's just too much bad blood."

She gives Baruch an affectionate pat. "Yes he //is// rather quite intimidating. That's part of his charm. The crime rate dropped significantly since his activation. He can hurl a car around if he needs to but I made sure that he's just so, so gentle otherwise."

She lifts herself up into the air and floats over to whisper some magic words into the golem's ear which reactivates with a great shudder. "There you go, dear," she fondly says to the construct. "On your way, now." The pinpoints of amber light that serve as its eyes wink in and out as a blink before nodding and plodding off. One would think something that big would be slow and ponderous, but really, it moves at a decent clip.

"Mm. So what kind of noodles did you get?"

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
Clarice Ferguson points to the bowl, "Rice noodles, Lydia. They're yummy," she smiles, which she munches on at Lydia's reminder. "Where does he go to?" she wonders.

She looks back at Lydia and says, "They haven't said anything disagreeable at all really. You should come with me! Let's go traveling! We can hang out and have adventures like the old days," she tells her, "Maybe they forgot I help Mystique or maybe they don't care. Doesn't matter really, I'm not that threatening anyway!" she says amusedly.

Lydia Dietrich has posed:
"He just patrols the streets of Bushwick," explains Lydia. "He's more than just a deterrent, though. He helps Ms. Jenks with her groceries when she needs to." She gestures down the street, "Sam sometimes has him moving furniture. He's not that good at being indoors, though. A bit too big."

Lydia just giggles at Clarice's assertion. "Sure you may not //look// that threatening, but you're one of the most dangerous mutants I know! I mean..." she waves a hand at the night sky, "You can just blink people into orbit if you wanted."

She looks hesitant at the invitation to come with her. "Maybe if I were with you..." she shakes her head. "I don't know. I was going to //marry// Mystique. That's not the kind of thing you just forget about."

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
Clarice Ferguson frowns and looks up in the sky as Lydia suggests she teleport someone up there, then hmms as she looks back at her again, "Well I saved all the Savage Land and telefragged a whole buncha dinosaurs. Yeah, the villagers were so happy," she smiles, "I went back there last week to check on them," she adds, "Yeah I should have come got you sorry."

She hmms as she considers Lydia's hestitations, "Oh you're too sensitive Lydia! Don't worry so much! If we want to go, let's go anywhere," she lets out and smirks, "Besides, if the X-Men show up, remember I'm the savior of the savage land. You want to go teach? Maybe I could vouch for you!" she says, "Do you want me to ask Scott or someone?" she asks.

Lydia Dietrich has posed:
"Really?" Lydia asks, her interest piqued. "I've always wanted to go to the Savage Lands and come face to face with some dinosaurs, and you saved them all? How?"

"I..." she closes her mouth and stops, and thinks about how to say this next. "I think it'd take more than a good word for me to be accepted into Xaviers. I'm sure as long as you were with me, I could hang out but teach there?" She shakes her head. "There's my history with the Brotherhood, and the fact that I'm a vampire..." She sucks on her teeth and mutters, "and that time when I let an elder god into my head." Yeah. Lydia basically turned evil and murdered a bunch of people when that happened, and those were the lucky ones. "I'm not known for making wise choices, and I doubt I'm the kind of person they'd want to have their children around."

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
Blink shrugs a little, "Maybe some Amazons helped. Yeah, no biggie," she explains and then frowns in concern for her friend as Lydia tells her story about horror and death, "Well I trust you," she mutters and perts her lips disappointedly, "Well fine, we'll go to the Savage Land and I'll introduce you to my friends," she explains, "You think about when you want to go!" she says and then smiles, "Okay, I should get going. Remember you can call me on my cell," she reminds Lydia.

Lydia Dietrich has posed:
"Yes!" Lydia says, fingergunning Clarice. "Savage Land! It's a date." She pulls Clarice into a hug and she mutters, "I know you trust me. You've always trusted me, even when I went bad." Releasing her she says, "I'll be better about calling you!" With that, golden wings unfurl from her back and lift her off the ground, carrying her back to her apartment.
