Calling the Chrononauts
Date of Scene: 01 July 2023
Location: Operations: Triskelion
Synopsis: Yelena receives a briefing on the evil alien robots from another reality!
Cast of Characters: Natasha Romanoff, Yelena Belova

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Some field agents had been summoned over to one of the briefing rooms in the Operations Center, where they were going to be briefed on the attackers from another realm. Various field agents were sititng down while Natasha was of all things working with a slide projector to work along various photos taken and moving to stand up as members filtered in.

Yelena Belova has posed:
It's summer in the city, and the entire purpose of most people is to get where it's cool. Air conditioning in an office isn't a bad place, if one is so inclined. Which Yelena Belova is.. and isn't.

Dressed in midi-skirt, a form fitting crop top, a light jacket atop all that and ending in a pair of boots, her multi-ringed hand hold on to a plastic Starbucks cup that holds only half of a frothy orange-colored drink. A straw peeks out of the top, and a perfectly made-up face, with red lipsticked mouth takes the occasional sip.

As she enters the room, there are a few soft complaints, "Do not touch me. You are sweaty.." as she finds a chair. The Russian has something of a reputation, and they do give her a little bit of room.

The bit of tech, or humourous lack thereof has Yelena barking a laugh. "Very high tech, slide projector. No expense spared. Very nice."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanoff would glance down at Yelena and go to smirk lightly, "Yes, but when we're facing off with someone of superior technology and likely information on our security measures, then we have to go old fashioned. If they're going to manually look at something, they have to come here physically and get ahold of it." In other words, keeping things on paperback when they couldn't rely over on electronics was an effective countermeasure when it came time for the game of Spy Vs Spy.

An image goes up of a destroyed humanoid robot. "This is the remnants of what was designated a Chrononaut. It is a hunting assault unit from what has been confirmed to be a parallel reality and timeline, likely from that reality's version of the future. For those of you that have not read files on separate realities, followup briefings will be accessible for review."

Yelena Belova has posed:
Yelena makes another noise, one of approval as she takes her seat. The two seats around her are empty, as if by plan. A couple of side-eyes are given; the other agents are dutiful and keep comments to a minimum. At least for the time being. Though the explanation for the low tech also finds acknowledgement and agreement amongst the ranks, as evidenced by nods through out the room.

Crossing her legs as she settles back, her arms crossed lightly before her, the drink doesn't last too far into the briefing. Blue eyes are locked onto the screen, her head tilted, her expression holding a hint of a frown. She is most definitely paying attention.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanoff would let out a sigh, "There are scanners that are being worked on tog ive us a better alert if these thigns attack again, or are accompanied by other forces." Yes, they hvae tech that gives them an alert when someone comes from another reality. It's complicated.

"Analysis of the remnants are ongoing, and no weaknesses have been determined, but the reverse engineering is at an early stage. What we can say is that they are very well armored, and have some ability to adapt to powers being used on them and tactics."

Yelena Belova has posed:
Of course there are scanners to help predict. Yelena wouldn't think otherwise, or at least hope. "No weaknesses?" Her attention is still very forward, and it's obvious that the blonde widow is considering every approach and potential tactic for an enemy with 'no weakness'. "If they are from another dimension, there must be. Not even Tony Stark is smart enough to consider all variables." That gains a few titters, and with the 'encouragement', Yelena offers a quick grin, only to have it fall again to complete seriousness.

"They have only been through once?"

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanoff would nod, "So far. They're expected to come again. We don' tknow what their goals or objectives are. They're automated units sent by an external force. For now, we don't know who this external force is, but they have had conflicts with other groups of Avengers. They've done sufficient.. Observation on our reality to have developed suffiicent countermeasures to our personnel."

Yelena Belova has posed:
"Oooooo," comes from the other Widow. This actually intrigues her, and while her body language doesn't quite give her away, there is most definitely that sense that Yelena wants to go hunting. "So we do not know if this external force is in our reality or somewhere else." She's not built for assumptions; they get one killed.

"Are they gone? Out of our dimension, or just hiding somewhere, waiting for orders again?"

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanoff would tap her shoulder, "For now, out of our dimension. At least that we're aware of. There is the possibility of sleeper units but given the way they operated that's unlikely. At least these Chrononauts. Tehy seemed like extradimensional assault units. They arrived, announced thier presence, and attacked. Other infiltration units that have been deployed as long time observers is a possibility that we can't discount."

Yelena Belova has posed:
Yelena shakes her head; she's absolutely not discounting them. There had to be a forward position, unless it was just a chase scene and their reality is just part of the road they were running down.

The drink is lifted once more, and the contents are finished, ending with that 'empty straw' sound one gets. Not too loud, but it's obvious. Once it is done, the blonde holds it loosely in hand, and sits back. Disappointment, thy name is empty 'fresher' cup.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanoff would cross her arms, "If you run into them while on an operation, you are to immediately abort and fall back. They displayed immense resistance to conventional weaponry and nothing normal issued to field operatives will be of course. They are not likely to engage on any terms but no sense risking things. Presuming you are giong on an operation and tasked with engaging them.. Empty the armory of every heavy weapon you can and go for overwheming fire superiority."

Yelena Belova has posed:
So it's overwhelm them with lots of lead? A frown creases the spy's features; while she does enjoy the overkill, she also enjoys the sneaky-sneaky. Still. Anyone who likes 'pure muscle' will have a great time. 'Abort and fall back' is not something she enjoys either, truth be told. Being pulled from the field? Worst thing that can happen; all the progress gets erased and it's a matter of starting over.

"Lure them from civilian population and shoot them from sky." At least Yelena mentioned -away- from civilians!

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanoff would nod, "Essentially. Given the danger they represent, if overwhelming firepower is not an option, immediate disengagement is called for. Precise munition strikes are authorized so long as there are no civilians present. Collateral damage is.. Acceptable, if the threat is sufficietn and the area is evacuated."

Yelena Belova has posed:
There, there is that 'carte blanche', after a fashion. The frown on Yelena's face tempers, and she looks around to check on the other faces in the room. Nodding ever so slightly, she leans down to put the empty cup on the floor. While others might look concerned or even worried, the Widow is going to be treating this like 'another day in the office'. After all, ultimately, isn't it?
