We Bring You A Paws In The Action
Date of Scene: 09 July 2023
Location: Flatiron District
Synopsis: Tigra is inducted into the
Cast of Characters: Patsy Walker, Greer Grant

Patsy Walker has posed:
The Flatiron District, named of course after the unique Flatiron Building itself, overlooks Madison Square Park with Times Square and the Empire State Building to the north, downtown to the south. It serves as a meeting point for many and is also a good spot to perch and keep an eye on the area. It's a good midway point for patrolling as well, making it a little easier to get to either direction in case of trouble.

Hellcat's parked herself toward the narrow end of the building's roof, the park below mostly empty and quiet at night. Costumed, of course, she's ready to spring into action. For the moment, the main 'action' is unwrapping a juicy burger to chomp down on.

Greer Grant has posed:
Every town and city should have landmarks like this one, easy to point out to people, especially out of towners, while also being classy and interesting buildings on their own. Being in a part of town where so many pass through, and near where others go, Tigra often schedules her patrols to pass by it. Well, schedule is perhaps too strong a word, but regardless, here she is, having climbed up a side of the building where no one was looking at the time, and then moving towards the edge to take advantage of the vantage it gives. On spotting Hellcat, she heads that way, putting an extra thump to her steps so she doesn't sneak up on the other woman.

Patsy Walker has posed:
The sound of the footfalls is a good enough warning that as Hellcat glances back over a shoulder, she notes the telltale (and tail) signs of Tigra's approach.

"What's new, pussycat?" she asks, a partial half-smile had in passing as she wipes up after herself with a napkin. Yep, she's eating while in full costume. After all, there are taller buildings from which one might spot her, and as long as secret identities are a thing she's going to be mindful of that.

Before the answer is given, she adds, "Quiet so far, here. I was thinking about you."

Greer Grant has posed:
"Whoa whoa," Tigra sings to the 'what's new,' clearly never having heard that particular line before. She pads over to crouch down near Hellcat, balancing lightly on the balls of her feet and looking out at the city. "I'll take quiet. Fun as it is to beat up muggers, that does mean someone got mugged." She glances over at the burgering and tilts her head. "Oh?" she asks curiously.

Patsy Walker has posed:
Hellcat mimes ringing a bell as Tigra plays along with the reference. It may have been heard countless times by now, but when it's two feline-based people involved (one a little more feline than the other), it's just accepted.

"It does give time to enjoy the view, and at least I can make sure I'm not going around on an empty stomach. Uh, there are a few fries left, or we can get something from Shawarma Palace in a bit," she muses, a thoughtful expression giving way to a brighter smile. "You know She-Hulk, right? The other jolly green giant?"

Greer Grant has posed:
As do many others, these two pay homage to the brave Amerindian hero known as Little Running Gag. Tigra needs no further encouragement to reach out and deftly snag a fry between clawtips, flicking it up and catching it with her mouth. "I'm okay for the moment," she says after chewing. "Ate not long ago. And yep, know Jen. Been friends with her for a while. Considerably more jolly than the other green giant."

Patsy Walker has posed:
"Easier to talk to, too," Hellcat agrees, offering a small golf clap as the tigress chomps down on the fry in a more 'showing off' sort of way. "Anyone ever try to get you in the circus with tricks like that? Sellouts, every show."

After another bite of her burger, she returns to the topic of Jen. "We go back a bit, too. Been helping her with some cases for a while. We're starting up another thing. What's your opinion of...cake?"

A grin wide enough to show teeth is given.

Greer Grant has posed:
"She is that," Tigra says with a nod of agreement, and then an easy-going smirk at the circus comment. "I'm sure there's lots of circusesses that would love to get their hands on me." And she'll let that be interpreted however Patsy wishes. "Think I remember you mentioning that, when we first met. What helped get us to ease up and trust each other a bit." A surprised look, now. "Cake? As in cake cake? or cheesecake? or beefcake? Because I like cake."

Patsy Walker has posed:
It's not the easiest for Hellcat's cowl to give away all the expressions, but with the yellow 'eyebrows' as part of it, you'd be surprised how often it seems to work. In this case, high amusement follows the end of the circus tangent. "You can bet on that," she agrees.

A gust of wind catches the sash at her side and sends it to waving around for a few moments, close enough to Tigra that she may have to mind certain instincts, should she have them. "Yep. I was being a little too obvious with the change to and from the costume, and she's not stupid. It helped break the ice, anyway. I can't promise any beefcake and it probably depends on what kind of cheesecake you mean, but the rest? Absolutely."

Then she wonders, clearly leading with the line of questioning, "Now what about fancy dresses? I know you probably don't like to have too much covering up that pretty fur of yours, but just indulge me here."

Greer Grant has posed:
Once upon a time it might have been difficult for Tigra to resist that fluttering sash. Now, when she bats at it, she does so exaggeratedly, just playing the 'cat' routine up a bit. She stops playing and nods. "Anyone that looks at her and thinks 'big green bimbo' has forgotten she's also a pretty good lawyer, and the stupid ones don't keep practicing law." She pauses a beat. "They run for Congress, instead." A wink and waggling of eyebrows when the nature of cheesecake is mentioned but she doesn't comment explicitly. "Depends, on the covering up. In the heat, it's definitely a problem if I cover up too much, and some things rub the fur the wrong way, but long as I pay attention I enjoy wearing nice clothes as much as the next gal."

Patsy Walker has posed:
Hellcat turns attention toward the batting, realizing after a moment that it's being played up. "Dork," she comments before agreeing as far as Jen is concerned. "She's got it a little tougher, being who she is, but she handles it well. And I think some of the lawyers on the other side are too intimidated sometimes to object. That's got to help."

She sniffs at the reference about Congress, but leaves it alone. "It'd be up to you what kind of material it is. The only rules are it has to be fancy and you have to look damn good in it. I know we like being the center of attention once in a while." Understatement?

"So if that's settled, you like cake and you like fancy dresses. Here's a tough one. How do you feel about Wednesdays? I know, middle of the week day. It means you still have half the week to go, but it also means you're halfway done. What better day to do something that isn't on the weekend, right?"

Greer Grant has posed:
A brief sticking out of Tigra's tongue at being called dork, and a nod of agreement. "It helps that she really likes being who she is, so it's hard to get ruffled by people misjudging her for it." A pause as she continues listening. "Wednesdays are...okay?" she says. "Well, Wednesday Adams is pretty cool. The day of the week is fine, sure. I'm starting to get a little worried about what you're leading up to here," she quips.

Patsy Walker has posed:
"She reminds me of one of the Titans. Raven," Hellcat states when Wednesday is brought up in that way.

That being said, she laughs. "I'm not leading up to anything except a fun thing Jen and I came up with. Now pay close attention, because this is the important part. 'Eat Cake in Fancy Dresses Wednesday.' We pick a spot, get ourselves all done up, and get decadent while looking amazing. More amazing than usual, I mean. So far it's just Jen and I - it's kind of a brand new thing - but how would you like to be the first inductee into the club after the two of us?"

She pauses, a frown passing by. "Unless Jen already beat me to that part. Whatever. It doesn't matter. Are you in or are you out?"

Greer Grant has posed:
"Spent a little time with the Titans, once. As a Titan. As in, in Dove's body. That was...interesting." A small grin, and then an attentive look, and soft 'huh' at the idea. "Sure, I'd be up for that," Tigra says without hesitation. "Would you be in costume? Or have you decided?" she asks. "I'm comfortable with either, just want to know what to expect."

Patsy Walker has posed:
Hellcat squints at the talk of being a Titan, or being in Dove's body anyway. "You know, I'm not going to ask about that because I can't even imagine being in someone else's body!" she exclaims, making that sound a lot more cheerful than it ought to be.

It's followed by a clap of her hands. "I know you were batting at my sash a minute ago, but it's us. In fancy dresses. Not over costumes, because that would just look weird! That also means we keep certain things secret, like if anyone needs to remember secret identities." This leads to her wondering, "Did I ever show you me out of costume? I can't remember. I don't think I did. We'll have to fix that, uh, very soon."

Because she gestures for attention, snapping her fingers. "First things first. I, Hellcat, induct you, Tigra..wait." A finger is paused in front of Tigra's nose as she asks, "Do you /just/ go by Tigra, or do you have one of those super-long cat names their people give them, like 'Princess Tigra Of The Many Stripes Who Hunts Sunbeams And Claws Up All The Curtains No Matter How Many Times We Tell Her No Because She Is Such A Bad Kitty But We Love Her Anyway.' Because that's going to cost extra for the nametag."

She shakes her head. "We're not doing nametags," as she boops Tigra on the nose by way of completing the initiation rites once the preference is made. "There, done. You're in. Welcome to the Order of Eat Cake In Fancy Dresses Wednesday."

Greer Grant has posed:
"Believe it or not, it wasn't the strangest thing that's ever happened to me," Tigra says wryly. A shake of her head. "Nope, you haven't shown me you out of costume. If it helps, if I get your scent I'll certainly recognize you, in or out of costume." A twisted smirk at the long feline name. "No, that's for housecats. I'm many things, a house cat isn't one of them." She demonstrates by play biting at the booping finger, but not trying to actually catch it. "If it also helps, I can show up in human form, though this really is the real me."

Patsy Walker has posed:
"Girl, you're talking to someone who died and spent time in hell. I still wasn't in someone else's body, though," Hellcat states, drawing her finger back whether the biting attempt is serious or not with the name thing cleared up. Some things, she just can't resist doing. That was one of them.

The costumed woman spreads her arms wide. "That's the great thing about this. There are no rules! Mainly because we haven't talked about having any except for the eating cake in fancy dresses on Wednesday part, but Jen's showing up in her green glory, and I've got a closet full of dresses to get through. So you can be whatever you want."

Looking down toward the park and the nearby buildings, she adds, "Follow me. Let's take care of something real quick." No, there isn't a cry for help, a gunshot, a car crash, or anything of that nature. She simply sends out her cat claw line, using it to swing her way down from the rooftop in the direction of a nearby alley.

Greer Grant has posed:
"Yeah, that's not something I can...I don't to say 'top' because that seems wildly inappropriate. Let's just say when it comes to weird experiences you're probably queen." A slightly bemused look. "Well, no rules, sure. Just want to be careful of identities is all, but if Jen's going to be big and green, I may as well. Be me, I mean, not big and green." She stands off, dusts off briefly and starts down the side of the wall, getting about halfway down before letting go to drop the rest of the way, landing easily on her feet.

Patsy Walker has posed:
Motioning for Tigra to follow, Hellcat ducks into said alley while stating, "Yeah, that shouldn't be a problem. Now, since you won't be seeing me there as me..."

This is where Tigra gets to see a new side of things relative to the costume she once wore during another time in her life. A wave of what must be magic washes over Hellcat, and one could swear one sees a number of floaty cat head symbols for just a brief moment.

With it faded, the costume is gone and standing there is one very red-headed woman, wearing clothes of a similar color scheme to the suit: yellow blouse for a top, black jeans, sneakers, and a cat-themed pendant on a necklace. "Patsy Walker at your service. Yes, that Patsy Walker. Also, private detective." Hand extended, free of any claws and gloves.

Greer Grant has posed:
"Be careful of strange women leading you into dark alleys," Tigra intones. "Of course, when you're already a strange woman yourself, evens things out." Her tail swishes at the display of magic, and at wondering if she actually saw the floating cat head things she thinks she saw, and then decides she doesn't want to have. "That's very handy," she says of the change, and then takes the offered hand with a friendly one of her own. "Tigra, also known as Greer Nelson, but just 'a' Greer Nelson."

Patsy Walker has posed:
Patsy Walker has all the same size and shape as Hellcat, not to mention that very red hair. "See why keeping secrets are important for me? It isn't like Jen or, I guess, you, if you can both look completely different. But..yep, that's me. Child comic book star, later hero who died and came back, now author and detective. See why I try to keep smiling?" This one is forced, and without the cowl to mask them, the eyes can give away something of a haunted look under certain circumstances.

"So how about we grab some more food before anything crazy happens? Or we can go patrol together and go on to another neighborhood. I'll tell Jen you're in."

Greer Grant has posed:
"Secrets are important for all of us in this business, and it's damned hard sometimes to talk about, find out what someone knows without saying something they shouldn't." She steps forward and slips an arm around Patsy's shoulder if permitted. "Smiling's good, but sometimes it's okay to let yourself cry. Let someone pick you back up. And yeah, let's go get something to eat, and you can let me know where to meet you guys for cake."
