- Stefani Houston has posed:
Not far from the abandoned nuclear power plant, an old railroad line sits unused as well. Parked upon it are old train cars that have become victims of weather, homeless, and teenagers. With pieces ripped off, their sides covered in varying quality of graffiti, the old train cars are relics of their bygone era, and a great place to get lost in the forgotten industrial relics of this area.
As it so happens, one train car in particular has a makeshift shanty built ontop of it. It looks like a homeless person's attempt at a little shack of their own...
But standing atop the train car, a young looking woman can currently be seen. Dressed in a camo vest, with dark green shorts and a black tanktop on, her arms and legs left bare, she seems to stand out a bit... as she's not generally the sight one might expect to see out here.
She crouches down beside the shanty structure and begins to root around inside of a duffle bag she has up there with her, her dark ponytail gently swaying in the cool November wind...
- Sunny Harlow has posed:
Sunny was...well, a little low-tech compared to most heroes. With her degree in design and natural talent she was able to make her own costumes...but she didn't have super-materials so they were almost always needed to be repaired or replaced. She didn't have super satilites, communicators (save for that one emergency beacon she still had tucked in her nightstand) and relied on either social media or old fashioned patrols to find things.
Still, there was also the aid of Viltrimite hearing to add a bit of resource...and a flyby to spot the strangeness of things out of place. Who knows? Sometimes 'Indestructibelle' got lucky.
- Stefani Houston has posed:
The young woman, who goes by the name Quiet, continues to methodically unload her equipment from the duffle bag into the shanty shack atop the train car. Her gloved hands move with practiced efficiency, revealing an assortment of gear that tells a story of her background and training. A compact disassembled sniper rifle is carefully laid out, its parts assembled with swift precision. Next to it, boxes of ammunition are stacked neatly. A handheld communication device and a laptop are carefully placed within the small shelter, hinting at a need for real-time information and remote access.
As she works, the cool November wind plays with her dark ponytail, casting it in subtle dances. Her green eyes, alert and scanning, keep watch over her surroundings.
She's seated on her left hip, leaned up against a old barrior wall within the shanty shack on the train's roof, making final adjustments to her sniper setup, all while quietly humming a melodic tune to herself...
- Sunny Harlow has posed:
It was the chatter that had caught her ear first, a little rumor and a chance that had sent her looking this way. Suspiciousness really came from...well, she'd heard vehicles and this place was supposed to be abandoned. It was worth a look! Having lost the white suit that had initially been inspired by the retired hero from her planet, instead the blonde was wrapped in the black bodysuit trimmed in yellow and matching half-jacket (with pockets!) that made her most recent outfit.
Now she just had to see...wait a second.
Ironically enough she'd caught herself starting to hum as well before blinking, realising that she'd found herself echoing the melody at the edge of her senses and immediately stopping turn her gaze downwards. Where was that coming from?
- Stefani Houston has posed:
Amid the abandoned train cars, the quiet November wind continues to whisper its secrets, swirling around Quiet as she makes the final adjustments to her sniper setup. Her gloved fingers dance over the weapon's components, ensuring everything is in perfect order. The parts fit together with the precision of a well-practiced ritual, showcasing her decades of experience at this process.
The equipment within the shanty shack now meticulously arranged, Quiet's focus remains outward, her keen green eyes scanning for any signs of movement or disturbance.
The setting sun bathes the graffiti-covered train cars in a warm, melancholic glow, mixing with her continued melodic hum as she now runs her rifle back and forth across the horizon aimed at the old nuclear power plant. She just quietly hums with the wind, unaware of a potential 'super' being near-by, at least for now!
- Sunny Harlow has posed:
There was nothing particularly suspicious about humming. Honestly, the feminine tones were quite pleasent...but it did seem to offer a little curiousity that Sunny couldn't help but draw closer to. It might eb a siren song to her but...well, she was sort of short on leads at the moment, and maybe it was someone who lived in the area that she could ask for information, or a tresspasser she could politely move on. Whatever it might be, the blonde woman began to decend towards the shanty shack.
There was no particular sound or announcement of her decent, perhaps a light rustle of her jacket in the breeze as she starts to touch down. However, whatever she'd been expecting to find...well, the sight before her wasn't it.
"What in the...?"
- Stefani Houston has posed:
It was the voiced question that caused Quiet to look back over her shoulder. She'd been poised before her rifle, peering through the scope toward the tree line that surrounds the old power plant's property. But now, she looks back toward the new arrival. She peers at her with a calm expression on her facial features, before she raises her right gloved hand up and simply... waves to Sunny. A very simple 'Hello' gesture with her hand as her left hand lowers the butt of the large rifle down to the ground, letting the barrel aim upward toward the distant towers of the old power plant facility.
Quiet knows all too well that finding her like this would be confusing, and thus she starts scooting toward her duffle bag, one hand reaching inside it... which might be a bit offf-putting... but then she draws out a tablet computer that she keys on, flips around and aims toward Sunny.
What is displayed on the tablet computer's screen is a curious bit of information. A 'Cougar' is terrorizing a nearby neighborhood, and a call to action has been sent out for someone to track it and neutralize it. Is that what this woman is claiming she's doing...?
She smiles warmly toward Sunny then, her bangs gently flowing in the wind across her browline.
- Sunny Harlow has posed:
The equipment set out was clearly concerning, especially the gun. For a moment the young heroine was seemingly wondering if she'd stumbled across some sort of master assassin...or more realistically the bad guys perimeter guard. Still, there wasn't immediate hostility, so that was probably a good start.
Coming to step forward as Stefani reaches for the bag, she did come to pause at the screen only to blink as the logical leaps come fast.
"A cougar...this isn't what animal control normally looks like..." she muses aloud only to frown. "Wait uh...are you able to hear me?"
She couldn't be sure if the woman was deaf and using such a device, or simply unable to speak.
- Stefani Houston has posed:
At the question of whether or not she can hear and understand her, Quiet nods her head two quick and small times. She holds that light smile before she taps the tablet computer screen, and swaps to another tab. 'Half Man Half Cougar terrorizing local neighborhood.' comes up as another article website is displayed. Is she hunting some kind of Mutant cougar man?
The Tablet is offered over to Sunny, before she reaches toward her left breast pocket where she pulls open a velcro flap. From within it she drags out a SHIELD identification card that shows her name as 'Agent Stefani Houston.'
Is it legit though?
She taps a device on her shoulder attached to her camo vest, and a computer voice speaks for her. "Hello, I am Agent Houston. I am currently on assignment." The voice says in a nice feminine tone.
Stef just continues to sit there just inside of the shanty shack atop the train, remaining seated on her butt like it's no big deal at all.
- Sunny Harlow has posed:
"Whoa...should you be shooting him rather than...arresting him?" She questions, moving forwards with a frown. Everything Sunny knew about guns she knew from movies and pop culture...and being shot at by them, but even she could probably tell the difference between bullets and a dart rifle. Probably.
She'd heard of SHIELD from her fellow viltrimite and their more public exploits.
Still, it was kind of strange to meet one just...out in the wild like this. "Uh...hi Agen Houston, I'm...Intestructibelle, or uh 'Belle' for short. I was looking for signs of some suspicious individuals that were moving around here...though I don't think they were cat-people."
- Stefani Houston has posed:
When Sunny gives that name, it garners a momentary larger smile upon Quiet's pink hued lips. She seems amused by it, and with it she gives the other a respectful salute in a casual way. She taps another button on her communication speaker mounted to her shoulder, and it speaks out once more. "I am unable to speak, but I am able to communicate with various assistant technologies. I am here to help, if you need it." The voice says for the woman in the drab camo clothing.
She glances toward the northeast before back to Sunny. Her tablet computer is reached for where she taps upon it with a fingerless-gloved hand. A new female voice speaks up for her then, reading what she'd typed. "I am just trying to spot the Cougar Man here today. I am not trying to kill him. If anything, I would like to convince him to surrender, if possible." The voice says as Quiet lifts just her right knee up to rest an arm atop it, as her eyes look from her tablet to Sunny again.
- Sunny Harlow has posed:
That's a relief, sure there was the thing with the rifle being there but...well, plenty of people were carrying firearms about, and she -was- supposedly an agent. Giving a little blink, the blonde beauty was not so great at hiding her surprise. Maybe she should wear a mask after all. "Uh...okay. I don't suppose you've seen anyone around here who was out of place? Suspicious vehicles, big boxes of stuff...?"
- Stefani Houston has posed:
Queit remains casually seated on her butt in the doorway of the shanty shack atop the train car. The question from the blonde Super has her showing a light smirk before she looks back down to the tablet computer screen. A swipe with her right hand casts some of her loose dark hair out of her eyes before she starts rapidly tapping her fingers against the screen again, little thud thud thuds with each press of bare fingertip to the cool glass screen.
"There was a convoy of vehicles leaving when I arrived." The tablet computer says, as Quiet's green eyes rise back up to look at the blonde as it speaks for her. "They seemed to be in a rush, looked like government vehicles to me. Are you suspecting trouble at the plant?" The tablet finishes off with a direct question, her own curiosity piqued now.
- Sunny Harlow has posed:
"Not uh...the plant specifically...probably." Okay, so while Belle might have a little experience under her belt now, she still had no idea how to make a handover of a briefing sound professional when talking to...actual professionals. Still, she bites her lip. "I mean, I heard that there was some sort of 'deal' going on and just wanted to check it out to be sure. It didn't seem like the sort of place for gentrification and stuff..."
"Did you see which way they went?"
- Stefani Houston has posed:
A pair of small nods confirm that question asked of her there at the end. Quiet spends a moment pulling up a map of the area, then turns it around to indicate a road headed southwest. She taps it with her right index finger, tracing it toward the direction away from the power plant grounds.
After a few moments she uses the tablet again to tap out another response.
"If you have a contact method, I can send you any updates that I might come across while I linger around looking for my Cougar mark." The tablet speaks for the mute woman who shows another ffaint smirk that comes and goes rather quickly here in the late evening of the November night.
- Sunny Harlow has posed:
"Oh! Sure!"
She did, actually, have an option. Admittedly, it was essentially a burner phone tucked in her jacket but...well, being bulletproof doesn't mean that she's got an expense account for this stuff. Heroism on a budget. Sure, she was basically giving some gorgeous secret agent her phone number, and later that idea would have her blushing, but right now? Well, she was just excited to be asked.
"I uh...guess I'll fly by and check again if I spot any cougar people."
- Stefani Houston has posed:
Quiet's right knee drops down again, extending her leg out straight as she pulls her phone from her camo vest pocket. She waits for whatever contact method that Sunny provides her, and she'll dutifully tappity-tap-tap it in to her device before she looks up again. A grin shows across her visage, as she slowly nods her head once more.
She takes a moment to use her tablet again, and within moments that melodic computer female voice speaks up for her.
"I hope you find what you're looking for, and any help is appreciated in return too, Miss Belle."
- Sunny Harlow has posed:
"Right uh well...good luck? If you ne-..." she was about to say if she needed help to yell, but well...
"If you need help, text me? Assuming you don't have super secret agent SWAT teams or something..." Okay, akward moment over, she clears her throat and begins to float. "And uh, carry on Agent Houston..." It was only as she was flying away did the heroine finally stop to berate herself under her breath. "Carry on? Nice one Captain America..."
- Stefani Houston has posed:
After the Super departs, Quiet just quietly watches her vanish away in to the horizon before she turns back to her sniper system. She scoots back inside the shanty shack, and once more raises the rifle up to peer through it. She does have a trigger-guard on, covering the firing spike. She just casually scans the trees, searching for any sign of her would-be-target sneaking about within the underbrush.
While she scans, she returns to her quiet humming of a soft tune...
