Earth has an Invasion Problem
Date of Scene: 19 November 2023
Location: Avengers Mansion - Training Facility
Synopsis: Nadia and Natasha discuss the latest of Earth's many alien invasions and how most of them are so unfriendly. This leads Nadia to contemplate building a Cosmic Fence to remove the Solar system from normal space.
Cast of Characters: Natasha Romanoff, Nadia Pym-van Dyne

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Cross-Training is a necessity that's been driven home all too much throughout the years. There are too many groups spread throughout the world, too many threats, and too much space to cover for any one team to handle it. Whether the threats are alien, mystical, mechanical, no matter their origin, they would be stopped.
That did, however.. Entail a lot of file reviewing, briefing, and cross indexing. The Brood invasion of the Savage Land had given a -great- amount of fodder for analysis into the strange (and horrifying) mutations.
Natasha is currently reviewing a mix and match of hostile alien fauna being readied in the simulation. One being a large Brood infected Tyrannosaurus Rex.. Accompanied by a large dragon-like creature that the Svartelves had ridden in combat during the period of hostilities.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
The Titans have a training space, the Outsiders have a training space, even GIRL has some secret training areas on the down low. Every team that Nadia is a part of has their own training facilities, she even had a hand in design and expansion of many of them, but they all focus on different things and train in different ways. That's the true benefit of cross-training and one of the reasons Nadia trains with so many different teams, other than just making friends wherever she goes. Today she's at Avengers Mansion, which isn't a terribly unusual occurence having been a junior member since before she was even of legal age.

Nadia taps the side of her visor as her suit scans the recreations of the Brood augmented dinosaurs and other fauna, before sending the data to her helmet's HUD display. "Those do not look friendly." She proclaims, as she eyes the analysis, stating the obvious. "Why can't we meet more friendly aliens like the Rannians of Ranagar? Dark Forest Theory needs to stop getting proven correct."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanova would glance over at Nadia, pondering for a few moments while the simulation would focus on a cross-section of the Brood gestalt with the Tyrannosaurus, images appearing of bodies from the fight in the Savage Land of Kanga riding Amazon cavalry against them. Reconstruction for analysis had been quite literal - the Amazons didn't leave many un-smashed bits.
"Demographics. For a variety of reasons, Earth has by far the largest ratio of empowered entities present that the Shi'Ar have ever noted." That draws attention. And interest. And most attention is not friendly. Natasha was ever so literal in her commentary.
"And no, they were rather not. They also exhibited a rather.. Effective method of consuming nearby biomass to regenerate injuries and even improve themselves in the field."

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Ironically Kanga cavalry are probably the least strange thing to Nadia in this civilization, after all she has been to Themyscira a few times herself and ridden her own Kanga which she named for the Greek word for Black Hole. Even in a magical paradise, the Science GIRL is gonna Science.
"That seems like a terrible reason." Nadia protests. "Being unfriendly is a choice. Imperialism is also a terrible way to allocate resources over a largescale society that invariably implodes eventually." But in the end she shrugs a little. If complaining about these threats or wishing they were nicer made them go away, Earth wouldn't need heroes. "The Shi'ar are one of the ones that invaded us!" Nadia has definitely not forgotten about that particular mess.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanova would pause in a moment of her review of the scans and analysis to turn to face Nadia. "No one said that sentience is logical. We are here, we beget interest as we are here, and the interest from other galactic states grows because of the interest. Comforting that species from other worlds behave in familiar ways." It makes for some ability to anticipate what extra-planetary powers might do.
"The Shi'Ar are for now.. Cooperative." Whatever the diplomatic niceties were, Earth was theoretically within thier space, and had the reigning Shi'Ar Empress' consort present.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Nadia makes a face behind her helmet. Her view of ideal galactic politics is more akin to enlightened anarchy than any of these conquering imperial domains. Woe betide them all the day she is pushed to turn her brain towards enlightened tyranny in the vein of the first Qin emperor, universal peace through conquest. "Yeah.. cooperative." She echoes the tone. "Clearly, like a farmer with intruders constantly coming on to their farm, we need to build some sort of Cosmic Fence." She sounds serious. One can almost hear the gears turning within her brain as she begins to ponder how to accomplish this. How /does/ one fence off a planet within the three dimensional void of space?

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanova would glance down at Nadia thoughtfully for just a moment. "YOu thinking making a Dyson Sphere is feasible?" That more had to cover an entire solar system, but the intent was the same. Even as she would muse. "We must be able to defend ourselves tactically and politically. You did make a point earlier. We have almost no representation beyond the starport here." An interstellar diplomatic corps would probably be something generations away.

If the planet survived that long.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Nadia shakes her head, "A dyson sphere wouldn't be practical, those just surround stars, but even then that's just a physical barrier and if there's anything my adventures have taught me, any physical barrier can eventually be broken. No, I think we would need to bend the fabric of Space/Time to isolate the space around our solar system from the larger universe except when the gate in the fence was opened via wormhole." She taps her chin in thought, more gears turning.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
The mechanics of it are more of a Richards level discussion than Natasha's, even as she just watches. At the mention of 'twist the fabric of reality', Natasha would keep her expression neutral. "Do remember sometimes to not overcomplicate things." Warping Earth out of space and time to protect it had a few too many alarm bells for her..
But brainstorming lead to creativity and to physics. And she had faith that Nadia would pursue the data wherever it would lead.
