Rockefeller Tree Lighting, the Aerial View
Date of Scene: 02 December 2023
Location: Warren's Penthouse
Synopsis: Warren takes Kitty for a flight to watch the Rockefeller tree lighting.
Cast of Characters: Warren Worthington, Kitty Pryde

Warren Worthington has posed:
Warren and Kitty are on the balcony of his penthouse, looking out over the city. He takes a sip of his drink, wine for both of them, unless Kitty particularly objects and wants something else. He sighs, "Christmas in New York. Nothing quite like it," he says.

"Seasons greetings to you, kitten," he says with a smile. "I hope I can maybe reserve you for New Year's Eve? I'm not sure which party I'll end up going to, but I would be remiss to show up without a beautiful woman on my arm. And you're the one I like best,' he says.

He can see the lights of display as they get ready to string the tree, "You want to do a flyover on the tree?"

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty is wearing a dark grey turtleneck and a sweater, both of which fit her figure snuggly. A jacket overtop then just needs to be a light one, though she has some gloves on as well for the winter weather. Her hair is pulled back in a ponytail, and she takes a sip of the wine as she looks out in the direction of Rockefeller Center.

"New Years, is all yours," she tells him, turning back towards Warren. Around her neck dangles a necklace, a Star of David with the tree of life in the middle of it, adorned with precious stones. A Hannukah gift from Warren, just a week or two before New Years a few years back when the two had gotten together for the first time as a couple.

"And I think a flight sounds wonderful," she says, finishing the wine. "It's not a blizzard like that first flight you took me on," she says of that New Years, when she'd been stranded in the city after working late, only to find Warren was at home rather than out enjoying a party somewhere. She sets down her glass and moves over into Warren's arms.

Warren Worthington has posed:
Warren Worthington slide his arms around her, taking a moment to perhaps briefly brush his nose against the skin of her neck, enjoying the tease of her perfume and her texture. It lets his next words spill right into her ear as he lifts her with his strong arms.

"I don't normally take people for leisure flights, but I know you'll be safe. But I won't drop you. I've got a nice, firm grip," he says.

His other arm slips underneath the back of her knees, scooping her fully as he casually steps off the balcony, his mighty wings extending and catching the air so that they begin to swoop and glide over the great city.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
The good thing about flying with Kitty, is if he did drop, she could just stand there up in the air waiting for him to come back. Or airwalk home if need be.

Though some might say just getting to hold her close might be a good thing about flying with her too. Kitty happily snuggles into Warren's arms, head nestling in against his shoulder at first, though soon she's craning her neck a bit to enjoy the view as they swoop out into the air.

The city is lit up festively. The regular lights on, plus many buildings trotting out some kind of decorations for the night which is the city's official kickoff of the Christmas season.

Ahead the sounds of a concert can be heard as there is a nationally broadcast special going on for the tree lighting. "I didn't get to ask Ali if she was performing this year," Kitty says of Dazzler.

Warren Worthington has posed:
Warren Worthington grins, "I'd be surprised if the city can afford her. She made enough in ticket sales last year, her asking price has to be going up. Of course, she might just do it for sentiment," he says.

He does, perhaps, enjoy having Kitty held in his arms, petite and light. What hero doesn't want to cradle a beautiful damsel to his chest? It's part and parcel of the role.

He trims to the East, tilting slightly and shifting her weight slightly in his hands as they scut momentarily visible in the big lights around the tree, causing a few onlookers to point upwards, "Best to avoid getting too close, lest the police think I'm a threat. Wouldn't do stock prices any good if I get shot down on the city Christmas tree."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde lets out a little giggle as Warren gains some altitude around the tree to not stand out quite as much. The music can be heard, but not really made out all that well with the echoes off the building. Kitty sings quietly though, adding some music to the moment. "Sleigh bells ring, are you listening? In the lane, snow is glistening. A wonderful sight, we're happy tonight, flying in a winter wonderland."

Maybe she changed the lyrics just slightly for the moment.

One of her hands moves up to brush through Warren's hair as she snuggles in close against his chest. "It's amazing how many lights there are on the tree," she says. They aren't lit yet, but it's getting closer to nine o'clock when they will hit the button. "I'm glad you were free tonight," Kitty says, resting her head back to the angelic mutant's shoulder.

Warren Worthington has posed:
The two of them land lightly on a ledge, away from the light, but able to see everything as they like. They're like the world's best looking gargoyles, with Warren's springs spread out wide and ready to scoop Kitty back up into his arms if need be, at a moment's notice.

"You've gotten the hang of this Christmas thing, spending so much time with us goyim," he teases. "I'd be curious to join you for some Hannukah celebrations, but I also recognize that the tall rich blonde guy may not be the ideal Purim guest," he says.

"For you, I'll cancel anything and anything I don't cancel, I'll drag you along with."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde moves her back against Warren's front once her feet are down on the ledge. Finding his arms to guide them to wrap about her as she leans back against him. "Well, you'd be welcome to get together with Mom and I of course," she says. "I don't expect Dad will make it as usual." He's in hiding, witness protection to keep him clear of the Yakuza from when they got involved in Carmine Pryde's bank to do money laundering back when Kitty was a teen.

"Maybe can go see him in Genosha though," she says, thumping her head gently back against Warren's shoulder. "I wonder if the school is going to do another ski trip or something."

Warren Worthington has posed:
Warren Worthington slides an arm around her shoulders, pulling her back against his chest, hands criss-crossing. He kisses the side of her head, just above her ear, giving her a firm embrace.

"I haven't been to Genosha in a long time. I know we're at peace with Magneto. But he still makes me nervous. I suppose I have trust issues,' he says.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
"I'm not sure if he's back involved there much," Kitty muses quietly. "Since he built his asteroid base, I think it's mostly been Lorna handling things there. I mean he ripped up all the work we'd done to help the people there rebuild. They might have made peace again, but I don't know if he's as welcome with the regular people as he once was," Kitty comments.

She gives a happy coo and leans into him. "Would be a chance to go warm up. Do some surfing, get some sun," she says. Not that they can't do that in the Danger Room anytime they want, but it's nice to do the real thing too.

Warren Worthington has posed:
Warren Worthington much prefers real life to the danger room. He's been trapped in enough illusions in his time, by mindbending villains and treacherous aliens alike. Warren has worked hard on his mental defenses to keep such things from happening again, but he also recognizes that there are limits to his capabilities. He is not a strong telepath or supergenius like Jean or Hank.

"I think a little splash of sun with Santa would be good. Don't they have some of those exotic beaches there, the kind where the clothing is optional?"

Kitty Pryde has posed:
"Pretty sure they do. Or if not, just some secluded stretches. Still not a lot of people there," she says, adding a soft sigh at the end. "And the tourism dollars can't but help them out too. We can probably spend a little time on a work project while there, help put up a house or something?" she suggests. Back nearer to the attack, she did spend a fair amount of time there doing just that kind of thing.

"Oh, look, it sounds like they are getting ready to light the tree!" she says as the crowd is starting to cheer, the music having stopped but the MC starting to do a countdown.

Warren Worthington has posed:
Warren Worthington slips his hands down to help keep Kitty steady as she naturally strains forward a bit, getting a closer look. His own eyesight is incredible, hawklike, enabling him to see things fairly well, "Take a picture. Nobody else is going to get this perspective. Don't worry, I've got you," he says.

"I'm well aware. I've been trying to help build some of those business relationships with importers to add to trade with Genosha. But a lot of countries still see it as a rogue nation - it's just fear talking, prejudice, but it has real economic impact," he sighs. "But I'm working on it. I hired Doug Ramsey to do a full corporate check-up. He's my new Chief Systems Analyst."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde pulls out her phone, completely trusting of Warren to hold her. Even to get a little handsy while he does. Possibly. She unlocks the phone and then starts up a video recording of it as they start counting down.

The tree lights up, fifty thousand colored bulbs coming on all at once. The entire square is illuminated by the tree, and people start cheering as more Christmas music starts blaring from the speakers. "Aw, it's gorgeous," Kitty says.
