Like the Sharks and the Jets but With More KAPOW
Date of Scene: 14 December 2023
Location: The Narrows - Miagani Island
Synopsis: Misfit and Batgirl are on the way to investigate high tech thefts, when they are diverted by rival gangs opening fire on each other around civilians.
Cast of Characters: Stephanie Brown, Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe

Stephanie Brown has posed:
Batgirl had come to the narrows for some investigative work. A rash of thefts of high tech components had seemed connected to a group that she'd traced to the narrows. Unsure exactly just what the group might consist of, Batgirl has checked with Misfit to see if she'd be available for backup.

Though before reaching the destination, the Batcomputer sent out an alert about a large scale altercation just a few blocks away. Street gangs, always a bit testy with each other at the best of times, seemed to be lacking the holiday spirit. Open fighting was breaking out, with numerous reports of shots being fired.

Gotham's best and brightest (that means the GCPD) were having trouble getting there though, as their squad cars were being pelted with bottles and rocks as soon as they crossed into the dangerous part of town. resulting in them pulling back.

<< Misfit are you up for a little street tumble first? >>

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
Hecks. For Stephanie she is always available. Unless fighting demons or with Babs or someone else in the middle of something. But yeah almost always. ~Sure thing lemme know when you get on site.~ so she was on call as it were.

Because as much as Charlie likes to do patrols actually with people so she can banter and spend quality time, she can be on call easily for any of the others who may need backup in a pinch while hunting good to do as it were.

So when the call comes well... ~Be there in a jiffy McJiffster jiff...~ and she steps off the building in the northern Narrows and vanishes in a slash of pinkish purple smoke.

She appears a moment later near Batgirl. Be it on a roof or on the sidewalk as she races by on her bike. Regardless she is in the area now and can catch up for the street tumble as it were.

Stephanie Brown has posed:
<< You know if I was able to teleport around like that... ok I'd still be late to my classes. If just on principle... >>

Batgirl pulls up to the area on her Batcycle, giving a wave up to the caped crusader most likely to be mistaken for someone moving in a strobe light. She focuses her attention back on the street then. There are two young men wearing gang colors hiding behind cars, exchanging shots with others firing from a nearby building.

Not jumping into action immediately - for a change, you'd better notice this Barbara! - Batgirl surveils the area. "Looks like a couple moving on the roof over there too," she says after seeing some furtive movement along a rooftop. "Which do you want?"

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
Charlie keeps on moving even as Batgirl pulls up. It was a port to Batgirl not to a specific location after all so she still has to position as well. ~I mean... to be fair I am often late to my classes but not on principal. It is mostly due to my critical care levels of ADHD~

~How about I go high and you go low. Unless you want me to take the two shooters behind the car out pretty quickly?~ she is comfortable following Batgirl's lead. She was the one who gave the invite to the party right.

Stephanie Brown has posed:
<< Nah that sounds fine. You get the roof and I'll get the street. Then we can meet up in the building. >>

More shots are fired, glass windows shattering. It's an apartment building, four stories tall. And a good bet that not everyone inside of it is part of the gang that is shooting back. So taking out those shooters definitely is a priority.

Batgirl leaps from the moving bike, trusting it to stop and park itself without her guidance. She does a flip at the top of her jump, arm swinging to throw a handful of smoke pellets between the shooters and the buildings. It removes her element of surprise, but it stops the bullets flying that way.

Instead the shooters turn towards her just as Batgirl lands on the ground nearby. She has her telescoping bo staff in hand. It opens with an audible thunk (there's one button to make it thunk and one for silence, because sometimes you want that noise!). "What, no fourth graders to deal drugs to tonight so you thought you'd shoot up the neighborhood?" she asks in a stern voice.

The two pop up from where they were crouched, moving to bring their guns on line towards her. Around a corner, Batgirl spots a third gang member coming around the corner of a building.

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
~Roger Dodger~ Misfit quips back and then she is gone from her spot, another slash of smoke left in her wake.

There is another pop of smoke up on the roof, though the far edge from where the movement was keyed. She is aiming to be behind whomever is using the roof to their vantage. Not that she lurks long, as soon as her feet make contact with the rooftop she is in motion towards where she last saw movement.

Mind you she is totes willing to veer off if it looks like it is just a lookey loo watching the gun fight from a high vantage. But if they are sporting any gang colors or weapons, well it will be time for DARK VENGEANCE.

Stephanie Brown has posed:
As the two men's movements make their intent obvious, Batgirl goes into motion. She pivots forward, spinning once and using the momentum to add more force to her bo staff as the golden metal stick whips around and slams into the man's gun arm. He lets out a cry, the gun dropping to the ground and going off as it hits, the bullet hitting a tire which decompresses rapidly.

Not hesitating, Batgirl plants the tip of her staff and uses it to vault upwards, flipping through the air safely above the path of the bullets fired by the second gang member. She comes down, slamming a heeled boot (so fashionable!) into the man's shoulder and knocking him to the ground.

The first man is quickly drawing a knife, while the one who rounded the building spots what is going on and rushes that way. To make matters worse, those in the building don't seem to mind firing blind into the smoke, though none of the bullets come close!

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
Turns out it was a good thing she came up to the roof for some Vengeance. ~hisss~ she notes satisfied forgetting she is on comms.

At the edge of the roof as she charges out of the darkness behind them are two guys wearing the colors of the gang shooting behind the car below. It looks like they came up here to help get the drop on their nemesis in the apartment block. One of them has a long rifle nad hte other a pistol. Would be Dollar Store Sniper indeed.

The one with the pistol starts to turn at the sound of boots, eyes widening as one of the BATs For Gods Sake slams into the guy with the rifle, sending him headfirst off the building and rifle flying "OOPS.. crackers!" is exclaimed, also over comms, but she manages to get a bat grapple on the guys boot and is holding him dangling off the side of the building. "Uh...." staring at the guy with the pistol. Then she reverses the grip and fires the other anchor point around the guy with the pistol, tethering him to his dangling friend.

The pistol absolutely goes off, but goes very wide as the pistoleero is jerked to the side of the roof as well scrambling to not go over.

Stephanie Brown has posed:
The screams of the man dangling off the building don't distract Batgirl. But they do make her grin as she faces down the man with the knife. "Gonna cut you bitch. You think you're something?" he says, feinting a few lunges towards her. Though really he's just waiting for his friend to close the distance from behind her.

The new arrival charges forward to tackle the costumed young woman. Batgirl pivots with a leg, grabbing his arm and bending down to flip him over her shoulder. He goes flying into the door of one of the cars, denting it.

The other man darts forward, slashing at Batgirl only to find she has a handful of cape that she uses to engulf and trap the knife. He's smart though and shows some training as he lets go of the knife and instead uses the now-freed hand to punch at her face, hitting her between the eyes and knocking Batgirl back a few steps.

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
Charlie not so gently reaches out and takes the gun from the guy tethered to the dangling companion. "I'll just be taking that, you should really use both hands to brace so you and your friend don't go fallingf off any buildings."

"It is like.. OSHA I think ... safety in the work site. That kind of thing. Hands free and on railings when dealing with heights like this if you aren't in a safty harness..."

The ganger screams at her "What are you.. crazy.. you can't leave me here with this.. I can't pull him up he is too heavy!!"

"Well... just stay put until help comes then. Duh. Also rude. Very rude." and Charlie is gone with a slash of smoke. Dropping down by the corner of the building wth a soft thump and peering to survey the scene of the battle. ~I assume you don't need an assist. Ready to go inside when you are done with the bozzo there.~ while up above there is screaming and cursing.

Stephanie Brown has posed:
Batgirl's assailant tries to follow up his successful punch, throwing a hard punch towards her stomach. But to his dismay she pivots out of the way, continuing around and showing great flexibility as she kicks high enough to connect with the side of his head. He goes down hard.

His accomplice has made it back to his feet after being thrown to the ground. And while on the ground he found himself right by the dropped handgun.

Before he can bring it all the way up, Batgirl lets fly a quick flurry of three batarangs one after the other. The first clips his hand and makes him drop the gun. The second bounces a blunt edge off his forehead. The third takes him square in the groin. "Yeah, that last one was unnecessary," she says as he goes down from the second one. She pauses only to cuff them together with batcuffs.

<< Heading in now. I'll start at the bottom and meeting you halfway up! >>

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
~That works for me... I assume there are lots of civilians in the building... which makes this challenging.~ like why can't bad guys always operate in bad guy warehouses. You can rack them up clearance style then. She sighs.

Moments later she appears in the upstairs hallway in a slash of smoke, and tosses a small drone into the air from her hip satchel. It catches itself with little popout rotors and zooooooms off to reconoiter and find the stairs down as Charlie quickly starts to sweep looking for bad guys and listening for gunfire.

Stephanie Brown has posed:
Stephanie Brown was paying attention to which of the windows had flashes from gunshots coming from them. A fifteen year old Gotham girl dressed as Spoiler wouldn't have probably had that kind of presence of mind. But Batgirl, trained by some of the most capable and deadliest men and women in the world?

She noticed.

And the risk that the innocents was put to fuel Stephanie's controlled, righteous anger. How many nights did she cower on the floor by her bed while the sounds of gunfire came from the Gotham streets outside her window?

She tries a door knob that belongs to one of those apartments. It's locked, but it quickly yields to picks from her utility belt. Cracking the door, she peeks inside and then rushes in, taking two gunmen down before they know she's in the room with them.

<< There's two. Heading up to the second floor. >> she says as she leaves them both cuffed to a radiator.

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
Misfit is cheating. She doesn't have the presence of mind to remember things like where gunshots came from. So instead she leans on the Bat Tech. The goggles and Oracle drone help her suss out who is cowering and who is hostile by their heat signatures and some threat analysis. Is it perfect. No. Is it great though. Yes.

She clears the top floor ~no one worth noting on the top floor, too far from the action heading down to the next level.~

Which is where she runs into a bozo in the hallway. She tosses a bat-a-rang right into his face before vanishing and appearing behind him to sweep low taking out his legs. This is followed with a bounce into the air above him and a boot stump down onto his back knocking the air out of him. Which only took a few heart beats really. She has him ziptied in short order.

    ~Heading down the next.~

Stephanie Brown has posed:
Batgirl clears the rooms, double checking on those even that she didn't notice any gunfire coming from. Not putting it above the gang members to have taken hostages, especially if they saw any of the Bats in the area.

Apparently some did, as one of the rooms that smells of gunpowder is empty, Batgirl clearing it quickly to make sure they aren't just in hiding. Probably ran downstairs and out the back while they were taking care of the group outside.

She finds one more group of gang members. But these drop their guns when she bursts through the door. "Fuck this, I'm not dealing with Batman and his insane followers," one swears, spitting on the ground.

"See, now you should have been made the leader and maybe you wouldn't all be going to county lockup for attempted murder," she tells them as she cuffs them.

<< Bottom floors are clear. Another victory for Truth, Justice, yadda yadda. >>

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
Charlie is almost disappointed. The last floor she has to cleare is actually pretty empty.

~Everything on my last floor is quiet. It is like .. well they ran or something.~ she has no idea they basically surrendered to Batgirl one floor down.

She shrugs and teleports instead of using the stairs though. It was a clear floor so she appears by Batgirl whne she says her floors of clear. "Huh." staring at all the cuffed gang members. ~Onwards then?~
