Well This Is A Surprise!
Date of Scene: 08 January 2024
Location: The BPRD File Room
Synopsis: Ducky runs into Tom and there is that awkward moment of 'oh I know you...' but it passes!
Cast of Characters: Atrice Duckstein, Tom McCarthy

Atrice Duckstein has posed:
It's probably too late for most sane people to be up. Much less at work. But the Triskelion doesn't keep regular business hours. Atrice has been working on fixing some files that had been put away wrong in the BPRD files room. There is one, we swear! The tall redhead with the very pale skin has her head phones in and just..in her zone.

She also has a stack of files that she's trying to move and with as shakey as she is she probably shouldn't. The door is open and her head phones are probably a little too loud and she's humming along to them.

Tom McCarthy has posed:
He hadn't been around BPRD too much - having been a part of SHIELD first, and now recently with WAND. Still, Tom had some things to dig into. So here he was, in the BPRD files room. He stepped in, humming to himself as he did. At least Digi didn't seem to mind his internal music.

Spotting someone else, he gives a friendly nod. A fellow music lover! He walks past, though stutters in step. "Do I know you?"

Atrice Duckstein has posed:
She most definitely was not expecting to see THAT face. There is a bit of a shriek when she doesn't hear Tom and the files she was carrying in up all over the floor. "Oh damn it..." she mutters as she crouches down to get them. "I'm sorry. I've apparently forgotten how to talk to people." she tells him.

Then she looks up to him and she blushes, "Oh...I do think we have met before." she tells him. "Do...do you work here?" she asks him.

Tom McCarthy has posed:
Tom kneels as well, to help clean up the mess he's made. As he gets a better look at her face, he pauses again. "Oh... hey..." A sheepish grin. "Yes... and no. I mean, I'm tied to WAND - not quite BPRD. Though I hear we work closely with you all." A slight smile.

"Uh, how have you been?" He asks, handing over some of the files he'd collected. "It's been a while."

Atrice Duckstein has posed:
"I'm Ducky!" the redhead blurts out with a bit of a laugh. Then she winces, "I mean...that's what people call me around here. My name is Atrice though." they had skipped those last time. She is super blushing though. "I mean...I just never expected to see your face again." she admits. "Much less in the file room of where I have worked for ages." she muses to herself.

She looks far more pale than she did last time they met though. "Oh...I'm okay. Just working. Counseling. All that jazz. "When did you join up with SHIELD?" she asks him.

Tom McCarthy has posed:
Tom McCarthy says, "You must do a lot of filing." He grins, looking around at all the cabinets, before looknig back to her. "I wasn't expecting to see you, honestly. Least of all, here.' He agrees with a chuckle. "I've been with SHIELD for about a year or so... after I finished up with the Air Force."

"Now I'm in WAND for... reasons." A smirk. "But hey, how have you been? I'm not interrupting you here, am I?""

Atrice Duckstein has posed:
"I do a smidge." Atrice chuckles to that as she gathers up the rest of the fallen files and rises. "I'm guessing that you went back to your military and I finally made it back to New York is why we might not have seen each other again. That and the no names no numbers thing..." she gives a little laugh. "I kind of regretted that for a few months." she admits.

"A year? That's not a lot of time at all." she admits. "What happened? If I can ask?" she looks to him curiously. "And no, goodness no. You'd never be interrupting." she tells him.

Tom McCarthy has posed:
He looks a bit sheepish. "Tom. Nice to meet you, Ducky." He grins, offering a hand to shake, if she's amiable. "I won't lie and say you weren't on my mind for a few months." Tom admits, nodding to her. "It was a hell of a night."

"No, not a lot of time. But... yeah. I got killed by a Demon, technically. But Witchblade was there, and Digitablum save me." He motions to a silver bracelet on his wrist. "So now we're like a weird buddy cop show." A shrug. "Never interrupting? That's a dangerous statement." He teases.

Atrice Duckstein has posed:
"It's nice to meet you, Tom." Atrice states as she reaches out to take his hand and give it a shake. She takes care NOT to touch Digi though. "Well, sometimes the world likes to do things for reasons." she tells him. There is a little grin though at his compliment.

Then she sobers as he tells her he was killed by a demon, "Well that's awful." she frowns. "I'm glad you were saved though." she is sincere in that. "Oh is it? I mean, if I'm not here I'm counseling...so interruptions would be kind of nice sometime." she winks at him.

Tom McCarthy has posed:
"I suppose it does. Not sure I quite understand the reasons, but... I am along for the ride one way or the other." Tom admits. "I suppose I'll have to come by records more often, yeah?" A wry grin - playful as well.

"Yeah, it wasn't a pleasant thing. I was trying to save a kid... I mean, I did save a kid. But the demon got me as repayment." A shake of his head. "Then Digi saved me, and we destroyed the demon." The bracelet all but hums in approval. "Counseling?"

Atrice Duckstein has posed:
"If you did you would also be a seer and with already being ridiculously handsome I don't think you need all the bonuses." Atrice tells him with a laugh. "If you want to come and help me with refiling things, yes." she grins.

"And a hero on top of ridiculously handsome and having returned from the dead. Do you also walk on water sir?" she teases him gently. "I'm a grief counselor when I'm not working here. I work at my foster parents funeral home most times." she admits.

"I'm like way over my time for today. Did you want to grab dinner?" she asks him.

Tom McCarthy has posed:
There's a chuckle of appreciation at her flattery. "I could help re-file things, sure. I don't mind paperwork every once and a while." The man admits. "Plenty of filling it out previously in after-mission reports."

"Oh no, no. I doubt I'm going to be in the good place for a while - purgatory, hopefully. At least until everything is atoned for." A wry grin. "Counseling is hard work. You're a brave person for taking it on."

A blink. "Dinner would be great. I know a few places."
