Can you Spot him
Date of Scene: 25 January 2024
Location: Greenwich Village
Synopsis: Cindy and Gwen team up to take on Spot. Who in the end becomes an Oreo.
Cast of Characters: Gwen Stacy, Cindy Moon

Gwen Stacy has posed:
What does every brilliant scientist dream of? Gaining powers, of course. And for Johnathon Ohnn it had been a dream come true when he had come across his powers. Sure, not the teleportation he had been researching but this was good enough....

Unfortunately though, not all brilliant scientists are of a good nature. So here he is, robbing a bank, making use of his new powers and testing their limits. Does he care that the alarm is on? Nope! He can just open a hole into the vault and get the money. Easy money!

----

"Hey Cindy.."

That's Gwen. On spider-comms. Now that they knew each other's alternate ID it had made them closer.

"~You will never guess what I am doing right now~" Gwen singsongs, her voice a bit different. Is she .., eating something? Or maybe savoring ice cream? Did she go get one and not ask Cindy to go? How could she? But before she can continue talking there's a 'beep' on the spider senses, followed by an alert on the spider-web that Peter had set for them.

"Hold that thought, seems we got action brewing."

Cindy Moon has posed:
Swinging along. That's pretty much what Cindy was doing in a nutshell. Just swinging along and keeping out of trouble. Or, rather, keeping trouble out. Well...that made more sense in her mind than not. The main thing is that she was doing her thing.

That is, until Gwen's voice cuts in on the commlink. "Heya Gwen..." A pause. "Wait. Just what are you do....hey! You're eating ice cream without me?!?" There is just the right amount of indignation and amusement in that response to show that hey, Cindy is not mad...but how dare Gwen go without her! There might be words shared the next time they see each other.

Which...seems to be sooner than expected. Because yup, Cindy picks up on the same alert. "Oh, saved by the bell. We better get on over there." Why 'we'? Seems that the bank isn't all that far away from either of them, if the web thingie that Peter gave them is any indication.

Gwen Stacy has posed:
"In my defense ...." This said while Gwen is swinging from web to web in the direction of that location they are aware of being where the crime is taking place, " .... I was bringing some to you! I just uh ..., couldn't resist the temptation of an early bite."

Followed by a low murmur that is still heard on comms, "I just hope the box holds up with all the swinging.." clearly crime fighting comes at all the WRONG TIMES.

"Another bank robbery?" Gwen says once they are closer, "It's the 21st century, have they heard of stealing bit coins instead?" they have indeed, Gwen. But not this one. The man they see walking out of the bank is dressed in all white with a lot of black circles over his body. Face unseen. Is it a mask or is it the man's real face? Whatever is going on they may be against a powered person which makes Gwen sober up.

"I have eyes on a dalmatian bank robber right ahead." oh boy, the puns are only starting apparently.

Cindy Moon has posed:
"Oh sure..." Thwip. "I bet you were..." Thwip. "I mean, makes perfect sense..." Cindy swings along in time, just barely keeping the giggles contained. Still, with the last bit about the box overheard, hey...maybe it is true. Still, it is the principle of the thing!

Closing in on the bank, Gwen gets there before Cindy...so she doesn't immediately see their monochromatic adversary yet. "Wait, what? Dalmatian bank robber? Like, dog costume or something? I mean, I've seen lizards and rhinos and things. But...a dog bank robber?" Just a little bit closer. "Just watch out for an insane fashion designer with a weakness for fur, I guess."

Yes, that is a Cruella deVille joke. And not necessarily a good one. Cindy's been hanging around Peter too long, it seems.

Gwen Stacy has posed:
"No, he just looks ...., you will have to see it. Also, you have been hanging with Spider-man too much." And then Gwen drops down with an aerial flip a bit ahead of the bank robber. Hero Landing and all that too. "Hold up there." she tells the mysterious figure. "That's not your money you got there, is it?"

The figure stops, head cocks to the side. He stares at Gwen a moment and then speaks, "It is now." a shrug. "I have places to be so ...."

The next thing Cindy gets to see when she's getting closer is Gwen suddenly popping up on the sky with a yelp, a large black hole hanging there as she starts plummeting down to the ground!

Cindy Moon has posed:
A laugh breaks through the comm "Yeah, yeah...I've heard that before." Really, Cindy has. From Pete himself, too. Too much hanging around bad jokes.

Cindy swings into view, just as the spotted figure ("Hey, he kinda does look like a Dalmatian") seems to throw a black splotch off of him, onto the ground...and Gwen disappears?! Only to reappear in the sky?!?

"Hold on there, Gw, err, Ghostie!" Yeah...Cindy is probably close enough so that people may hear super secret identity names, and that is a no go. Still, Cindy-as-Silk quickly diverges, just enough to swing over to catch a falling Gwen. "There we go!" Then, realizing what she just did, she gives Gwen a shrug and a wink, fully visible with that half-mask of hers. "Sorry, hon. Instincts kicked in. Forgot you can handle a little fall." Still, she gives Ghost Spider a bit to get oriented before letting her go to do her Spider thing.

Once the arms are free, down drops Silk, landing in front of the scientific bank robber. "Hey, don't go! I have a bet with my Spider friend. I say you are white with black dots and she says you are black with white splotches. You gotta tell us which one is right..."

Gwen Stacy has posed:
The teleporting hole throws Gwen for a loop. Literally! So she is still twisting around and figuring out up from down when Cindy comes to the rescue! "My hero.." Gwen retorts when she is caught, winking back at Cindy before attention goes to the problem at hand.

White with black dots or black with white sploches? Inquiring minds want to know. "Yea. And also. No more teleporting me around, that's rude." she lands on the other side of Spot, now the two heroes flanking him.

Spot turns his head one way, then the other, "I am Spot." he announces proudly, "You will fear me soon enough, spiders."

Gwen can't contain a little giggle, "D-did you just say Spot?" she glances across at Silk, extremely amused.

And now Spot seems to be getting angry!

Cindy Moon has posed:
A knowing look is shared between the female Spiders as Cindy lifts a hand to her mouth. She at least manages to stifle the giggle, though it is painfully apparent that there is a big smile behind that mask and hand of hers. "Spot? Really?" A glance to Gwen. "You sure he isn't a dog-themed villain??"

Oh, totally ignoring the bad guy now. Probably not a good thing. Cindy turns back to the self-proclaimed Spot. "So...you *are* white with black spots! I knew it!" Cindy starts to rotate around Ohnn, putting him between her and Gwen. "But, really. Spot? I mean, there are so many other better names you can choose. Like Inkblot, or the Dalmation. Or even Rorschach."

A beat. "No, wait. I think Rorschach is taken. But you get the picture. Anything but Spot..."

Gwen Stacy has posed:
There's a shudder of containment out of Gwen. Another little giggle. Cindy will most likely be able to figure out that her friend is doing all that's possible to not start rolling on the floor with laughter. SPOT?! Gwen just can't believe it. "You know ..., when I was thinking on getting a dog that was like, one of the top 3 names.." so yes, she agrees about the dog-themed villain theory.

"I kinda like Roschach though. Is it really taken?" And yep, she loses her attention from Spot too, now entering a dialog with Cindy about the best names that he could had chosen. "That's why I always say we need someone that knows branding and marketing." she adds, "Heroes and villains alike, so these names don't---"

"ENOUGH!" Spot's anger is evident in the way those balls swirl all over his body, "I am no dog! Let me show you why I am Spot then!"

Two discs are thrown, towards the two heroes. Easy to dodge really, which Gwen does and starts moving in. "Alright, time to get you back in the kennel.." she moves fast, rolling under another disc before jumping at Spot...

... who opens a disc right in between her fist and Spot's face.

Another opens right in front of Cindy where there's a Gwen-punch coming her way!

Cindy Moon has posed:
"I mean really. Spot? Wasn't that like a soda mascot at one time?" Cindy is certainly enjoying the verbal banter, even if the villain is less than quick on the uptake. "But that was a big red, well, spot. So, I guess not for you."

A quick duck, then Cindy takes the opposite side of Gwen. Surely they will be safe with the creativity-challenged Spot in the middle. "I think so? I mean, it is a pretty good name. Imagine that black swirling around and good guys being distracted with lame questions like 'what do you see now?' Like, what are they going to expect for an answer? 'Oh, I see a pretty butterfly that is about to be beaten up.'

Ooo....someone's getting testy. "yeah, right, Fido. I am so scared. What are you going to doooOuch!"

A Gwen fist catches Cindy right in the face...and the Silk-Sense didn't catch it in time?! Why? Oh...probably because it belonged to Gwen...and Gwen is a friend and would never hurt her.

Unless some strange portal shenanigans caused it to happen.

"What the?"

Gwen Stacy has posed:
It's a good thing that a Gwen-punch isn't the most effective of things. Truly, she has tried solving this already in the past but not even Colleen has been able to make her have a solid punch. Which considering the enhanced strength Gwen had was ..., surprising. Still, she made it up by the sheer athleticism and nimbleness which ..., were being just as ineffective as Spot's .., spots ..., make them all miss.

Which in turn becomes Cindy's opponent, but at least now she knows she has to _move_! "Ow, sorry!", beat, "Dodge that too!"

Don't those spots end sometime?! Spot just seems to glee as Gwen's attacks aren't doing anything against him. "Seems you can't clean up ..., this dirty spot.." and he laughs. Clearly he has been practicing some puns. But they aren't good ones. At all.

"We need to shift gears here, Silk." there's some frustration on Gwen right now.

Cindy Moon has posed:
A Gwen-punch might not be the most effective, but it is still driven by spider-strength, which is no joke. But, watching Cindy have to dodge all of Gwen's attacks? That's probably really funny. Especially for the spotted scientist. "Whoa!", duck, "That was close.", pause then sidestep, "little too close!"

Cindy doesn't know what is worse, though. The fact that they can't seem to touch the Spot, or the fact that his dad jokes are horrendous. "Awww..really? You had to go there, didn't you? That's just nasty!"

But Silk does agree. It is time to shift gears. "Put our thing down, flip it and reverse it." Why the sudden lyrical interlude? No explanation is given...until Silk shoves her own fist in the same hole that Gwen's offering just emerged from. It is almost like a fist bump as the two spiders shift, with Gwen pulling her hand out as Cindy's fist emerges, only for the last second to shift directions and head for the Spot's head. Well..that's one way of looking at things.

"Doesn't this guy run out of spots? Geometry was never one of my favorites." Sure...get Pete out here with his nerd brain to figure out the angles.

Gwen Stacy has posed:
Oooh, a lyrical interlude. But it's one that brings a grin out of Gwen because she immediately knows what Cindy wants to do. Those 'spots' go both ways of course! And if they do...

The fist from Cindy comes but she doesn't even try to dodge it. She knows the intention. And so she goes with an overhead kick over to hit Spot, to which he opens another portal.

Leaving him open for that reverse-punch out of Cindy.

"Is it worth it? Let me work it." Is Gwen, apparently knowledgeable about the particular music those lyrics came from.

"HEY, STOP CHEATING!" Spot stumbles back, disoriented a moment at the punch.

Yet none of them seems willing to stop 'cheating', a moment later Gwen somersaulting over Spot to get a kick through, her foot coming out the other way, reversed, to hit Spot.

And Spot stumbles again. "Use my spots, Silk!" she manages to say that without giggling.

Cindy Moon has posed:
"Cheating?! I have you know I beat that 'Portal' game fair and square, mister!" Oh, so apart from Missy Elliot and the flash of inspiration there, it seems that Silk is channeling a little Chell in her battle plans, and their monochromatic friend here is GlaDOS. "What I learned from video games is that there is no loss of motion when travelling through portals. So a punch thrown here..." With that, Cindy throws a punch towards one of the open portals used against Gwen. "....can come out here and not lose any momentum!" The punch emerges from a spot just below the stumbling scientist, catching him in the body.

And why the Missy lyrics? An admission for the Ghost Spider. "I listened to a lot of music while playing video games." And it seems that Work It is synonymous with Portal.

Gwen Stacy has posed:
"That 'Portal' game?" That's Gwen now, jumping over a portal that Spot opened up, feinting before throwing a punch from 'behind', through the portal. "It's a classic!" clearly Gwen has played it too.

"I approve of your game tastes.." She then adds. The music? She isn't that sure! Work in progress.

Spot has had it. He growls and opens his arms to the sides, shooting various black holes all around. "ENOUGH!" but he's too angry to focus and when two spiders are working in tandem there's little they can't accomplish.

Gwen goes in low..., their opponent fully open to their attacks. It was time to bring him down!

Cindy Moon has posed:
"The one and only!" *Thwip* A webline shoots into one hole, out another, into yet another, and out once more, entailing around the feet of the now mostly white Spot. Maybe not enough to trip him up...but certainly enough to slow him down enough for the dynamic Spider duo to do their thing.

And, it seems if Gwen is going low, then Cindy is going high. Really high, but not as high as Gwen was initially. But not without a little razzle dazzle. For when the black holes are released, Cindy actually *leaps* into one, head first. Only to emerge from a higher portal....and into another one....then another one. Adding a flurry of white, black and red before finally dropping from a portal above Ohnn's head...feet first, with both heels together and aimed directly for the top of that white, smooth head.

"Incoming!!"

Either Gwen is going to send the Doctor up to Cindy or Cindy is going to send him down to Gwen. Either way, this will be a triumph.

Gwen Stacy has posed:
One little known power that Gwen has is spatial awareness. It means she knows her surroundings. Knows where _everything_ goes. Including those portals. So as Cindy rushes in so does Gwen does and she knows _exactly_ where Cindy is going to pop up (and when).

It's why when she slides down she shoots a couple of webs over to opposite portals. They come out the other side, twisting around Spot as if wrapping him up in a nice gift for Cindy.

"YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO ME. I AM ---" A sweep of a leg makes Spot lose his balance, Gwen dropping on her back and using both her feet to /push/ Spot up to the Incoming Cindy.

All wrapped up and ready! It's a hard day to be a villain.

Cindy Moon has posed:
Feet up from Gwen. Feet down from Cindy. And the Spot caught in the middle. Just like an Oreo...right down to the white filling!

**THUD** Feet meet head...and knock out the Spot. Once he loses consciousness, all of the portals just disappear, only to reappear on his person. Cindy flips gracefully in the air, landing delicately as the Spot slumps to the pavement. "You are what? Invincible? Undeniable? Wait, wait, I'll get it. Inevitable?" She turns towards Gwen and despite that ninja half mask she wears, her friend can tell she is definitely smiling. "Looks like he is sleepy to me. A little nap will cure that crankiness right up."

Oh yeah. Sarcasm is most definitely a spider trait.

A little giggle escapes Cindy as she bends down to pick up the knocked-out villain. "I think it is time to take Pongo here to the dog pound, then we can celebrate with some cookies and cream. You know, really keep the whole spotted thing going. What do you say?"
