Date of Scene: 12 March 2024
Location: Garage and Stables
Synopsis: Logan catches up with Kitty while she's messing her car's engine at the school.
Cast of Characters: Kitty Pryde, Logan Howlett

Kitty Pryde has posed:
It's Tuesday morning, and rather than being in the city at Stark Tower, or working from home out of the X-men base's ops center, or even sitting in the school guidance office talking to students, Kitty Pryde can be found out in the garage.

She's standing next to a sedan with the hood up. She has a laptop sitting on the edge of the body, with a couple of leads running into places inside the engine bay. Rather than peering at the engine, she's instead focused on the screen. Occasionally manipulating the mouse or the keyboard.

Kitty pulls out her key fob and starts up the car remotely, then peers back at the screen. "Hrm."

Logan Howlett has posed:
It's Tuesday morning, and rather than being in Alaska hiding from the world in the log cabin he built a decade ago, or prepping one of the classes he's allegedly suppose to teach, or even sitting in the kitchen drinking beer before noon, Logan is making his way towards the garage.

A wicker cowboy hat rests low on his brow, wearing an unbuttoned flannel over a white tanktop and bluejeans, he has a set of keys twirling around his fingers as he pushes open the door with one booted toe.

Pausing there, with a glance over at the Hrm.. and curl of his nostrils, "Kitty." Under his breath, fang baring smirk as he slinks around the front of one of the multiple cars with his head tilting to one side as if he has a single god damn clue what's going on on the computer screen she's staring at.

"Move over let me help." Dry. Direct. Logan joke.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde glances up as Logan comes in. "Logan," she says back. just the hint of a curl of her lips showing that she's pleased to see the surly X-man. They haven't had a lot of time together lately, but he's always been a special figure in Kitty's life. Most terms don't quit fit. Father figure? No. Mentor. Only sort of. Teacher. Some. But he's always given her things straight up and been exactly what she needed him to be. And that shows in that partial-smile that forms.

She moves over to make room. "The fuel efficiency isn't what it could be," she says. "Nice that you can adjust a lot of the engine parameters by computer now," she adds. The engine is very clean and new looking. The car itself is a used one she picked up after her last car ended up phased into the middle of a small armored personnel carrier that was attacking the school.

Logan Howlett has posed:
Stops a respectful distance away from the computer. Not Kitty, obviously, but the computer. As world travelled as Logan may be, there's a part of him that still doesn't trust those damn things as far as he can throw them, and he's thrown more than enough of them to know exactly how far that is.

Hands curling around his hips, he glances away from the screen, over to the engine it's hooked up to. "What ever happened to doin' shit the old fashioned way? Gettin' yer hands dirty... trail'n error'n the hell out of it until it does what ya want it to?" Again, he's teasing, but in that clipped way of his. The smirk partially hidden in the thick curls of his chops and stubbled chin.

"So what's that thing doin'?" Pointing two thick fingers at the computer hooked to the dangling engine block.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
"I think it died out at some point," Kitty says with just a bit of teasing in her voice. "The 1930s or something like that. Age of the Geek, Logan," she says, flashing a little grin at him.

She goes over to a fridge in the garage, grabbing an energy drink and then coming back over as she opens it to take a sip. "I need to figure out what to do for a car long term. This is ok, but not really what I want. Just what I could find on short term that wasn't outrageous," she says, giving the tire a tiny kick. Just to let it know where it stands.

Logan Howlett has posed:
Logan is rubbing his jaw with a snort in response to Kitty's teasing, but mostly looking over the hanging engine with a squinting eye and a side to side tilt of his head. He's by no means an engineer, but knows a lot more about mechanical work than he does whatever the hell is going on on that computer.

"could build one." He says to her once she's returned with her liquid crack. Nose curling when she pops the tab, even flinching away. "Fuck... how do you kids drink those damn things? That actually 'smells' like cancer..."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty hides her warm smirk behind a sip of the drink. "Says the guy who doesn't have to worry about that," she says before setting the bottle down on a workbench nearby. "I don't have them very often. Not like some people I see," she says, shaking her head. "I've actually been eating a bit more healthy," Kitty tells Logan.

"Less sugary cereals." Well it's healthier than the Oops All Berries version of Capt'n Crunch that she often ate. "So talked to Mom two nights ago. She was asking how you were doing," Kitty says as she moves over nearer to Logan to look over his shoulder at what he's doing.

"Should I be holding a flashlight for you?" she asks in mirthful tone.

Logan Howlett has posed:
"Yeah, I reckon." Logan retorts about not having to worry about it, "An' even I'm not drinkin' those damn things... But to each their own. Not sure what happened to just a good ol' fashioned coffee. Everything's gotta be all..." Wrist flick, "Artificial sweeteners an' balanced PH or whatever bullshit nonsense they say on the intertube these days."

He knows a lot more than he plays up, of course.

With that little half smirk.

"Hell, I'm jus' trying to look like I know what the shit I'm lookin' at. So do an old man a favor and look impressed when I wiggle my finger at something, huh?" He does so, wiggling a finger, then rubs his jaw. "If you want to improve this thing, I'd suppose if you..." A glance at his wrist, where there is no watch, "Aw heck, gotta run to class." The smirk only widens by a fractional margin.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde leans forward, hands on both knees as she peers into the engine compartment, eyes going wide as if with rapt amazement as she watches what Logan is doing in there. And a big smile on her face that adds a warmth to the teasing.

She laughs as she straightens up, and if Logan doesn't do something to avoid it, he gets a side-hug from the one he's watched grow from a precocious thirteen year old into... a not quite as precocious 21 year old.

"Hey, let's grab dinner together sometime this week," she says. "You can catch me up on what's going on with you of late," she says as she moves back over to the computer and pulls up a display that shows the fuel-air mixture that the engine is currently set for.

Logan Howlett has posed:
Logan doesn't balk at the side hug, even if he's not much of a hugger. His hand comes up to squeeze the side of Kitty's head, but releases her just as seamlessly whens he straightens, "Yeah we should. Not that I've got a whole lot to catch you up on."

Two fingers come up to tug down the brim of his hat.

"I'll be around a few more days afore I'm headed back to Alaska. Mandatory 'show face' for a few days..." His fingers wiggle in a direction that is almost certainly North Westish, whistling through his teeth, "Then I'm gettin' the hell out of here before they expect me to act like an adult."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
As Kitty adjusts one of the engine's settings, she gives a small grin at Logan's final comment. "Heaven forbid," Kitty says, though she shows some commiseration then as the younger woman says, "At some point I became Miss Pryde." She gives a soft sigh and a shake of her head. "Too young to be Miss Pryde. That's my mother, for God's sake."

She grabs her energy drink and finishes it off, tossing it in a high arc towards the trash can. It goes right in. Nothing but net. "And Jordan wins it!" the Bulls fan says as she turns back to Logan. "Hey if you need some company while you're up there let me know. Can probably get Illyana to send me up."

Logan Howlett has posed:
"Where you even born the last time Jordan played?" Logan gives one final tease with a lopsided smirk, reaching out to muss her hair with the flat of his palm like he did when she was just a kid. The hand drops down into a pocket with a clipped nod.

"Assume the invitation is always open." He's not hiding where he's at, only ... not being around people. Especially as the times change around him and he becomes archaic in his ancient ways. Feral was so last century.

"See ya aroun' Miss Pryde." Okay, two more teases. Then he's headed back the way he came in. Not to go prep school material, but to grab a beer from the fridge.. because it's definitely five o'clock somewhere.
