A Faire First Meeting
Date of Scene: 15 March 2024
Location: A Renn Faire
Synopsis: Isra returns to the US after years spent abroad. She surprises her brother and meets Wray as well.
Cast of Characters: Isra Kosimar, Wray Aleifrson

Isra Kosimar has posed:
New York has an abundance of Renn Faire's and given that it is St. Patrick's Day weekend there are a lot of people who are just wanting to get a party going this weekend as well as pretend to be Lords and Ladies.

At least some of them are pretending.

Ciprian Kosimar was one of the regulars of the Faire and SCA chapters. A historian within the circles. He usually set up shop near where the blacksmiths and others were. His tent had been set up and he'd wandered off to peruse some of the local festivities.

Not long after that there was a woman dressed in regular street clothes that had wandered into Ciprian's campsite and was looking around, she'd entered the tent and not come out yet.

That might cause some concern...

Wray Aleifrson has posed:
The people at the Faire were generally a pretty tight-knit group. Sure, there was always drama, but they were a family. They weren't exactly snippy with people from outside their circle, but they did keep an eye out for one another.

Normally, Wray would be a man to turn an eye aside, to avoid any trouble. But this was a bit different - there weren't blades being drawn or war on going. So he did what any good Faire Folk would do, he moves towards the tent and calls over.

"Excuse me. I don't think that's your tent." His voice is like gravel, deep and resonant.

Isra Kosimar has posed:
Irvriya freezes when she hears that voice. "I'm aware of that!" she calls back as she shakes herself and heads towards the entrance, poking her head out the flaps to see who the voice belongs to. She doesn't know Wray, but she does understand that her heart skips a beat when her gaze lands on him. Thankfully she's wearing sunglasses so that she doesn't look completely stunned.

She steps outside of the tent and into view, raising her hands to show that she has nothing on her, "I didn't take anything I was just..."

"Achoti?!" comes the call from Ciprian, apparently he knows the woman and the tall man comes hurrying over to see what is going on.

Wray Aleifrson has posed:
He's not armed, persay. I mean, there are costume-quality weapons on his person, though they are peace-bound as per Faire rules. Regardless, his hands are nowhere near those gimmicky weapons. "Just...?" He trails off, watching the woman as she peeks out of the tent, then exits with her hands up. Clearly, he's letting her explain as best she can.

Hearing another approach, Wray turns to look over to Ciprian. "Sister?" It's easy enough for him to understand - thank the All-Speak. A slightly sheepish grin and a nod to Irviya, as if offering it in apology. "Sorry about that, we just tend to look after one another here."

Isra Kosimar has posed:
"Trying to surprise my brother." Riya finishes after Ciprian has shouted at them. She looks a little embarrassed herself, or that might be the only reason for her face being flushed. She clears her throat a touch and looks to her brother as he approaches, a hug given to him. But she looks surprised when Wray speaks Hebrew. "Yes, I'm his baby sister." she chuckles to that.

Ciprian still looks a little miffed at her, "We were not expecting your plane until Monday did...something happen?" he asks her. She shakes her head to that, "No, I just caught an earlier flight back. My apartment won't be ready until mid next week, so I'm in a hotel for the moment." she tells him.

Then she focuses on Wray, extending a hand, "Thank you for looking after things. I'm Doctor Irvriya Kosimar, most just call me Riy or Riya though." she grins to the tall man.

Wray might sense...something awfully familiar that didn't start until she appeared. Or maybe it is something else...

Wray Aleifrson has posed:
Wray offers a thin smile - clearly not used to too much social interaction with non-Renn folks. "I imagine you succeeded." A chuckle, even as he steps aside to make sure Ciprian can move in to hug his sister. As she introduces herself, he grins. "Journey of the Night." A nod to her. "Quite the name."

"Out here, at the Faire, I am Wray. In every day life, I go by James Michael." A hand is exteneded over to the woman.

That feeling is noticed, even as the siblings reunite. "It's no problem. I am sure Ciprian would have shown the same concern if someone were to start peeking about my forge when I wasn't there."

Isra Kosimar has posed:
Isra looks a bit sheepish at that, "Ah, yes." she chuckles. Clearly feeling that she has ruined her brothers night. Her cheeks clearly redden more when Wray can rattle off her name meaning, "Thank you." she murmurs to that.

She takes his offered hand, "It's nice to meet you, Wray. I'll be sure not to use your mundane name too much. I'm a bit rusty on this whole thing." she waves her hand lightly around.

"He would have used the dad voice on me." she admits. Talk of a forge piques her interest to another level, "A forge?" she asks.

"Oh no, I've lost her." Ciprian muses as he chuckles to that.

Wray Aleifrson has posed:
There's a look given to Ciprian, almost apologetic in nature. "Your sister, a doctor, is interested in metalworking?" Wray gives a grin and chuckle to the other man. "And you are the re-enactor, and not her?" He teases, good-naturedly.

Turning back to Isra, he nods. "Yes, a forge. I give demonstrations on blacksmithing as it was done back in the day. And sell my blades and items to those who want a bit of that history to go home with." A slight smile. "I even braved the internet. I have a friend who videos me, so they can post it on YouTube." A shake of his head. "That part of things is far out of my understanding, though."'

Isra Kosimar has posed:
Isra looks QUITE amused by all of the talk.

"I have a Doctorate in Archaeology." she states to clear up any confusion. "With a Masters in Medieval History and Jewish History." she adds. "He's a Doctor of History. Our father is the medical Doctor." she tells Wray with a grin.

"And I have a keen interest in metallurgy." she points out. "I'll have to find your Youtube channel. I'm sure it is fascinating." she smiles to that.

Ciprian gives a look to Wray, then to his sister, "Were you staying here overnight or heading back home?" he asks her curiously.

Wray Aleifrson has posed:
At least the channel will be memorable, with his voice - even if he is a lousy smith. Wray grins a bit wider. "History is a bit of a hobby of mine." Likely, Ciprian has heard some of his stories - er, retellings of some historical events. "An honorable profession, all around. History of the Jewish people - that is a subject of depth." He admits.

"Well, then. If you are interested, I am open to showing off some of the forge - or having you stop by one of the demonstrations." A nod to Isra. He looks to Ciprian, then to Isra.

Isra Kosimar has posed:
Isra gives a look up to her brother and there is a sweet smile, "I was going to see if I could crash in one of the cabins on site. I have my overnight bag. Just...completely jet lagged. The flight from Jerusalem is always long." she sighs. "And I would not want to interrupt your weekend plans." she points out.

Then she looks up to Wray, "Oh is it? Then I am sure we will become fast friends, Wray." he lightly accented voice is full of hope in that. "And yes, I followed in our mothers footsteps with history. Though she doesn't get our love of the medieval times." she sighs to that.

"How about I stay overnight and if you are doing a demonstration this weekend I can stop by when I am properly dressed and take notes?" she offers.

Wray Aleifrson has posed:
Her accent gets a wide smile from Wray. The people of Midgard are always so diverse! As the siblings speak on lodgings and plans, he nods. "I can imagine. Jerusalem is quite far away." He comments, standing in more of a relaxed posture. Even so, with his build, he's still looking over the smaller folks.

That weird feeling is an itch in his mind - he does spare a glance around the encampment.

"Quite the long span of time, that medieval era." A chuckle. "Yes, I have a few demonstrations this weekend. I'm working on an axe tomorrow, if you are interest in seeing such a thing?" Wray suggests.

Isra Kosimar has posed:
Ciprian reaches out to ruffle the top of Isra's curly hair, "That sounds like a plan. Just keep out of trouble." he points out.

"Were you there?" she asks Wray with a curious quirk of her eyebrow from behind her sunglasses. There is a grin that follows it, "Just joking." she adds quickly. "I do love a good axe. I will be there with bells on...maybe quite literally." she grins.

I'm going to go retrieve things from the rental and I'll see you guys tomorrow. It was a pleasure to meet you, Wray. I'll probably watch some of your videos tonight before sleep!" she offers cheerily before she hugs her brother and is off!

Was it safe to let her loose on this place? Probably...
