Getting the eyes right is indeed tricky.
Date of Scene: 20 April 2024
Location: Happy Harbor Community College Campus
Synopsis: Viv Vision meets Atom Eve. They chat about art and science. Viv sends Eve some contact info for GIRL. Thankfully no-one tries to grow any eyes.
Cast of Characters: Vivian Vision, Eve Wilkins

Vivian Vision has posed:
Happy Harbour is known for it's open admission policy when it comes to super types. But that doesn't mean everyone is prepared for the more overtly non-Human attendees. Not that Vivian Vision minds much but it does make quietly waiting for people for a study group awkward at times. Who wants to get gawked at by people passing by while they're reading a college text book?

Ironically normal people. That's who.

The synthezoid teenager is at least pretending that people trying to sneak a cellphone picture in is normal while skimming a book on computer programming. Her study buddies for the evening are supposed to be gathering in the HHCC Library but between public transport delays and college students living the sort of lives where punctuality isn't really a thing... Well she could be standing around for some time.

Technically speaking the book is entirely pointless. She could easily upload a digital copy right into her memory. But licensing and copyright issues asides it's always handy to have a physical hard copy when you're working with organics. Because at least one person will forget the book if she doesn't bring her own copy for them to borrow. Guaranteed.

Eve Wilkins has posed:
When Eve returned from helping out overseas in Genosha - she felt seperated from a lot of the other things going on in her life. It felt as though a new beginning - and she was happy to find a place like Happy Harbour to land at. Metahuman (and human) friendly, and she felt she could moosh classes in inbetween her normal superheroing.

That, and the more understanding she had of things like physics and chemistry - things she innately had some knowledge in - the better. So she had a book of quantum mechanics, dressed casually in a light denim jacket over a yellow top, jeans and sneakers, she carries said book towards the reading area.

She does see Vivian - she does stand out, after all.

"Hello - sorry to just call out," says Eve, voice shushed for the library meaning.

"You're the Avenger, right? I'm Atom Eve - if you've even heard of her," she says, her voice low. An independent superhero, Eve has been scooting around the news and sundry for quite some time.

Vivian Vision has posed:
With her inhuman senses it's pretty much impossible to sneak up on Vivian. She doesn't even need to turn her head to 'see' people approach, but it's rude to address people just because they're nearby until it's clear they're wanting to interact. A portion of Viv's mind scans Eve (and everyone else in the area) and cross references them against online databases. Then it reads the books they're reading. Along with checking out a variety of other related searches depending on what might happen to be interesting.

"The Avenger?" she wonders, turning her head and offering a friendly smile. "Oh no. That's my father Vision. I am involved with the Young Avengers and Titans. Even then I only really help the Young Avengers with technical matters. I'm not actually actively on the roster."

There's a beats pause before she adds "I don't think I could maintain my studies /and/ be on two superteams as a full member. There is only so much I can physically do at any one point in time after all."

She motions for Eve to join her. "I maintain an awareness of all superheroes operating in the region." Even if she didn't it'd be the work of a mere moment to look it all up.

Eve Wilkins has posed:
It was easy to not know you were being scanned. Eve steps closer to the synthetic person, tilting her head to the side as she smiles. "Oh, my bad - I'm sorry to make that mistake," she says, laughing lightly when she hears what Vivian says.

"I get being stretched to the brim," says Eve. "I tried to take on too much - a lot of what I'm doing now is trying to take a step back from that and focus on myself," she says.

She takes the invitation to join Vivian, drawer nearer to her. "So I go by Eve," she says then, smiling. "Or Sam, if you'd rather," she says.

"Learning about some physics and goodness knows what else," she says, bringing her hand up to tap the book she was carrying. "I kinda was lazy at school, believe it or not. I'd like to start applying myself a little bit," she says.

With her awareness of the atomic structures around her, Vivian was an interesting tickle at the back of her mind, the synthetic nature of her and all. But far, far too advanced for her to replicate.

Vivian Vision has posed:
"I am happy to call you whatever you are most comfortable being called," Vivian says with a wry smile. "And no need to apologize. Superhero teams can be very complicated. Sometimes even I lose track of whom is involved with which team. Codename, costume and roster changes happen all the time. Not to mention people taking breaks for whatever personal reasons."

She holds up her own book. It's a comp-sci text book. "Ironically I'm taking some classes on coding despite the material being... uh. Well lets just say I was overqualified for it when I was a child. Really I'm here for the more social aspects of college and to further the cause of AI rights." Not that AI currently have legal rights. And with the various AI based super villains out in the world there isn't a lot of public support for them either...

Her own enhanced senses quickly build up a picture of Atom Eve's superhero history. Checking official public sources and a few restricted databases. Enough to confirm she's probably not a supervillain using a cover story. "I attended High School here. It's one of the reasons I ended up taking up art as a hobby. Drawing people by hand using pencils allows me to better understand Human limitations and work on improving a more creative mindset."

Eve Wilkins has posed:
"It's a little bit like a job, I imagine," says Eve.

"A lot of what I worked with?" she says, glancing over the book when it was presented. "The Teen Team? A little dysfunctional, to say the least. But what team isn't?" she says, with a wave of her hand, a thoughtful glance given the book.

"Then why even read about these things?" she asks.

"Do you get a lot of benefit from it?" she says. Art, now, that was interesting, and Eve quirks her brow.

"Do you think that's something you'll be able to get?" she says. "I'd start by focusing on getting the eyes right," she says, with a bit of mischief in her tone.

Vivian Vision has posed:
"Because if I just sit staring into space people find it unnerving," Vivian points out with a chuckle. "And I can lend a physical book. It's much less distracting than projecting the images in thin air." She shrugs. "The Titans are such a big group there are plenty of members who have never even met each other in passing. Which is probably for the best. If the whole team regularly turned up it would probably unnerve the Government. Recently we discovered one member of the team was the daughter of another from the future which was... strange."

"Probably it'd make an excellent sitcom though."

"There isn't really /any/ subject at a college level I would struggle with. I deal with more advanced scientific work at GIRL all the time. And I've been drawing for quite some time now. I like to think I'm pretty good! I have had a few friends who professionally model pose for me." She winks. "Getting the images to look right was never the issue. I could draw you so accurately you'd swear it was a photograph. It's making it look /Human/ that's the tough part. Putting some of myself into the drawing rather than aiming for photo realism."

Eve Wilkins has posed:
"Strange is kinda par for the course here in superheroland," says Eve, sitting back, and folding one leg over the other. "Creativity, that's difficult," says Eve to the last thing that Vivian says.

"Mimicry, that's easy," she says.

"But oh, you work with GIRL? I love the work that they do with women in STEM fields," she says with a smile. "How'd you get involved with them?" A cant of her head as she looks to the other.

Vivian Vision has posed:
"My Great Aunt Nadia founded the group," Vivian explains earnestly. Having nodded along at the comments about creativity and mimicry. Both more true for her than most. "I've been involved pretty much since day one. We're funded by Janet who is also part of my extended organic family. I deal with a lot of the logistical support, planning, and whenever I have been experimenting in the kitchen I use the members as test subjects. In a good way that is. Cupcakes and healthy snacks for the most part."

Her head tilts to one side and she brushes her hair back behind her ear.

"I've been involved in various technical projects too. Programming systems for the FTL spaceship and I helped a lot with the space suits too. It was easier for me to just scan people and adjust the measurements than to get people to turn up for conventional fittings."

And honestly it was much more accurate that way anyway. Which is pretty important for suits intended for such a hostile environment. "I guess the short form answer would be nepotism. Buuuut I do think I'm more than qualified to be involved. So hopefully people don't assume that's the /only/ reason."

Eve Wilkins has posed:
"Either way," says Eve, "It was nice to meet you," says the young woman.

"It sounds like you have quite a bit going on, so..." she says, Eve rising to a stand afterwards. "I, unfortunately, still have to read these things to get by," she says, crinkling her nose as she waggles the book.

"So I probably should get back to doing that," she says.

Vivian Vision has posed:
"It was a pleasure meeting you," Vivian says with a nod of her head. "If you consent to me uploading some reading material about GIRL to your phone I can send you a brochure if you'd like to learn more about the benefits of membership."

Sadly the people she's meeting still haven't arrived, but it's not so late that she's concerned. But perhaps. Just perhaps she might need to peek in at a local bar just to make sure none of the study group is using a fake ID to get a beer before hand.

Not because she disapproves of drinking. But because it's rude to stand people up!

"If not I'm sure I'll see you around campus some time."
