Gotham Dive
Date of Scene: 06 May 2024
Location: Gotham Arms Tavern - Burnley
Synopsis: Dinah met a newcomer to Gotham, Rich Rider, who was away for a few years on a mysterious errand...
Cast of Characters: Richard Rider, Dinah Lance

Richard Rider has posed:
Dark, rainy, gloomy. The usual Gotham atmosphere. The dive bar that Rich finds himself in isn't much better, truth be told. There's a slight cloud of smoke in the bar -- a rarity for this day and age -- and the clientele are not the nicest looking bunch. So, somewhat standing out like a sore thumb is Rich, who is nursing a gin and tonic. Of course he is. And enjoying the people watching, such as one can get away with in a place like this. He has his back against the wall, so at least he's not getting jumped by some member of a gang, but...this is probably NOT his usual dive.

Dinah Lance has posed:
Dinah Lance strides in past the boucner who gives her a slight nod. She is wearing biker leathers, helmet tucked under her arm, as she flops onto a barstool. "The usual," she states to the bartender who whips the blonde woman up a dirty martini as she glances around, blinking at the one who sticks out like a sore thumb. Curious, she wanders over after her drink, eyebrow raised. "Doesn't seem to be your kind of place," she states.

Richard Rider has posed:
"Try new things my therapist told me. So...here we are. New city, new type of locale, new...ish drink. I don't think I've ever had gin as old as this before..." Rich replies, looking at the glass his drink is in. If Dinah takes a glance at the bottle of gin, she might see it's nearly as old as the bar itself. He considers the woman for a few moments, and then adds, "New friend. Rich, and you are?" by way of introduction.

Dinah Lance has posed:
Dinah Lance nods as she sits down. "Dinah," she states. "I run a local flower shop. I do pretty well for myself - even have some big names as customers. Like Emma Frost." She extends a hand. "Is that stuff even drinkable? It looks older than I am. You bought the whole bottle?"

Richard Rider has posed:
Well...Emma Frost is a name that Rich is aware of. "That's quite impressive. Did you do her wedding or something?" Not that he knows much at all about why Emma would need flowers. "And it's a pleasure to meet you. Not often one meets a biker florist," he says with a smile. The question about the bottle gets a shake of his head, "No...god no. I don't think my liver could handle that. Just the one, maybe something a bit...fresher for my next drink."

Dinah Lance has posed:
Dinah Lance nods. "That would be wise. The barkeep does a good margarita too." She smiles softly. "It was a funeral for one of her staff's parents." She smiles. "Interesting woman. But anyway. You new to Gotham?"

Richard Rider has posed:
"So I've heard, and seen." Rich says with a nod of his head. He then looks at his drink, and frowns, before he downs the whole of it in two gulps. He winces and fights off the effects of doing that for a moment, before he says, "Margarita," to the bartender. He then turns his attention more fully to Dinah, "I am, yes. Just back from a trip out of town for the past few...years. Usually spend most of my time in New York but thought..why not Gotham for once?"

Dinah Lance has posed:
Dinah Lance watches you choke down that ancient gin with a smirk. "Generally people avoid Gotham for it tends to be... seedier than New York or Metropolis." She takes another sip of her margarita, not really working too fast on it. "Where did you go for a while?"

Richard Rider has posed:
"Sometimes, the seedier the better, if you're in that kind of mood." Rich shoots back, before he shakes his head, "I...well I spent the last few years rebuilding an organization that was left to me by my mentor. After that I spent some time just travelling. Here, there, anywhere I could go, you know?" he seems to be keeping it intentionally vague. Perhaps he doesn't entirely trust his biker florist friend!

Dinah Lance has posed:
Dinah Lance nods slowly. "Fair enough - family business can be a big deal," she states, nodding slowly. "I just hope you fit in with Gotham - you have to be gritty to make it here. I've seen a lot of people try to move in - most leave in very short order."

Richard Rider has posed:
"Oh, I don't know that I'm going to move here...though I must say, so far the company is quite enjoyable," Rich says, grinning to Dinah. "And, not my family business...no. Just...a group that had gone dormant for a long time." Again with the cryptic. "So, do anything other than bike around and arrange flowers?" he asks, changing the subject.

Dinah Lance has posed:
Dinah Lance smiles softly. "Yeah. I sometimes like to go to the bad side of town and kick the ass of gangbangers. They're annoying with the loud noises." She smiles softly. "Just kidding. Though I really want to several times." She grins widely - of coruse she actually _does_ go beat up the bad guys.

Richard Rider has posed:
Rich Rider raises an eyebrow at that comment, and then stands up slowly, "Well...if you ever consider graduating from gangbangers to something more interesting, look me up," he says, and then tosses a couple of bills on the bar, "Sadly, duty calls," and then, he's heading for the door.
