Profile
Richard Rider is a seasoned member of the Nova Corp as a native son of New York city. As a teenager, he originally gained his powers from a dying centurion. Starting as a crime fighting, his adventures eventually led him to space, where he rebooted the Worldmind and restored a previously destroyed Xandar. He likewise resurrected the Nova Corp and served for a period of time as Nova Prime. Today, he splits his time between his duties as a centurion and his attempts at a normal human life on Earth.
Timeline
Timeline:
* 1986: Born in Hempstead, New York
* 2003: Rhomann Dey selects Richard to be the next Nova
Prime following the destruction of Xandar.
* 2005: Richard reboots the Worldmind and initiates
the reconstruction of Xandar.
* 2006: He leaves the Nova Corp to return to a normal life.

2010: Attempts to intervene in a burglary and is tossed from a roof. His powers re-emerge.
*
2011: Re-assumes his duty as a Nova Centurion.
* 2021: Richard negotiates with the Worldmind to
allow him to regularly visit the Earth.

Personality
Cocky Streak:
Richard has matured in his seventeen years as a super hero and member of the Nova Corp. However,
there still that initial glimmer of cockiness from his younger years. Quick to take a challenge head
on, his powers usually protect him in his brashness, however against a significant enough threat,
this can be a liability.
Duty:
Richard is responsible for restarting the Nova Corp and has struggled with this legacy in the
past. Somewhat reluctantly, he has accepted this responsibility and dedicated the last 10 years of
his life toward the defense of Xandar. As a reward for his dedication, Richard is given leave to
visit Earth. However, his duty regularly calls, and he answers without fail.
Stubborn:
Richard's early teen years have left him with a chip on his shoulder. The initial fame and
scrutiny of being a hero wasn't a pleasant experience, and he gained powers at a very difficult age.
He survived it all, and has learned to grit his teeth through adversity. When he's doubted, he only
tries harder.

Powers
Nova Force Conduit:
Richard derives his powers from the Nova Force. This force affords him multiple
abilities:
Superhuman Strength: With maximum application of the Nova Force, Richard is able
to lift in excess of 100 tons. While the exact limits of this strength are unclear, a blow from Nova
is known to topple some of the most powerful beings in the universe.
Superhuman
Stamina: The Nova Force has augmented Richard's physical body, causing his muscles to fatigue at a
considerably slower rate then the average human. He is able to exert himself for days until sleep
deprivation begins to erode his performance.
Superhuman Durability: Nova is effectively
invincible to most sources of harm. He is able to ignore damage such as high speed impacts,
explosions, and bullets. It takes exceptionally strong beings and forces to reliably harm
him.
Flight: Richard uses the Nova Force to propel himself through air and space. His
maximum speed exceeds the speed of light. Within atmosphere, there are practical limitations to this
ability, as it is far too destructive to his surroundings. In the theatre of space, he is not so
inhibited.
Superhuman Reflexes: Necessary to utilize his faster then light flight,
Richard's reflexes and perception are augmented to allow him to quickly process information and
react to other beings traveling at similar speeds.
Concussive Blasts: By channeling the
Nova Force directly, Richard is able to expel energy in the form of incredibly potent concussive
blasts that he regularly uses to subdue opponents.
Force-fields: Richard is capable
of wielding the Nova Force to generate powerful shields and force fields to protect himself and
others.
Hyperspace Portals: By focusing gravimetric energy, Nova can generate a
singularity which burrows through space and time, connecting two positions in the universe and
enabling instantaneous travel for himself and allies.
Skills
Knows Space:
Richard has been active in space for nearly two decades. He has a basic grasp of etiquette and
galactic politics. He can arrange negotiations and audiences between most civilized factions. He
also knows the locations of most significant planetary bodies and landmarks.
Skilled Combatant:
Richard is a formidable fighter, having received elite Nova Corp training from his connection
with the Worldmind. Additionally, he's a seasoned combatant, having faced multiple foes in his
tenure with the Corp.
Resources
Nova Corp:
Richard is a centurion of the Nova Corp, and for periods of time, has served as Nova Prime.
While he does not currently hold this rank, he has prestige within the organization and his words
carry weight. As a result, he is able to muster considerable resources if he can convince the
Worldmind that an obstacle poses a threat to Xandar.
Nova Corps Uniform:
Richard has a tailored Nova Corp Uniform made to the Worldmind's specification. The material of
this uniform assists with containing and regulating the Nova Force. The uniform has self-repairing
capabilities, and Rider can alter the appearance of the uniform to appear as normal clothing as
needed.
Weaknesses
Dependent:
Richard's bond with the Nova force has become so acute, he can no longer survive without it. If
cut off from the Nova Force, he needs an appropriate substitute such a quantum energy or his body's
molecular structure will begin to break down. He cannot survive longer then two days without such a
power source.
Instability:
Without occasional sessions with the Worldmind, Richard's mind grows unstable the more he
leverages the Nova Force. If he is separated from the Worldmind for a considerable amount of time
(weeks), he will suffer a mental breakdown and potentially go insane unless he abstains from using
his powers.
Worldmind:
While Richard is in the good graces of the Worldmind from his years of service, he is not
completely immune to its whims. Countermanding direct orders from the Worldmind can leave Richard
stripped of his powers, a potentially lethal situation considering his dependency on the Nova Force.
