- Evan Sabahnur has posed:
Evan is fairly busy today, as Hope House is celebrating the 4th just like the rest of the country. Several barbeque grills are in use, making hamburgers and hot dogs for the residents. Evan's been making sure all the food is set up where it needs to be, and keeping coolers full of ice to keep the cans of soda cold.
Spottijng Mystique as she steps out of the building, he heads in her direction. "Hey there, been a while since you've stopped by. Things have been kind of busy, summer means the kids aren't in school, so we've got them running around at all hours. How are things in the Brotherhood?"
- Raven Darkholme has posed:
The cobolt-skinned mutant meets Evan halfway, smiling as she sees her fellow mutants enjoying themselves with no protesters in sight.
"Things have been... difficult. I wanted to speak with you because you have worked with us before, but things are changing, and I don't think you will want to be a part of it."
She pauses for a moment, then quietly adds "Magneto has returned, and the Brotherhood is giving up the attempt to make nice with the haters. While we won't be terrorists, we will also show no mercy to those who oppose us, and I don't think that sort of thing fits you."
- Evan Sabahnur has posed:
His smile falters a bit as she explains what brought her here today. "I see." He sighs, "Unfortunately you're right, I'm not a no mercy kind of person. I mean, the hate groups, yeah, I want to stop them from hurting people, but will it really make things better to start killing them? They attack us, you kill some of them, the next time they come gunning for us instead of just protesting. It's a vicious cycle of escalation."
"Whoops, one sec!" He dashes over to one of the grills and flips the burgers before coming back to her. "Do you really think this is the best way to handle it? I know the thought is to make them too scared to attack us, but I don't think it'll work. There's always someone too dumb or just righteous who won't be put off by you guys, and that makes trouble for all the other mutants when the haters get bigger guns out."
- Raven Darkholme has posed:
"You might be right, but we can't just stand by anymore. They're digging up things that should be left to rot like Sentinels. We are not going to take that lying down." She smiles at him, adding "We do what we have to so that the mutants like you and the people here don't have to fear a Sentinel landing in the backyard."
"I don't want to cut all ties or anything, but I think your time in the Brotherhood is over. If you don't mind, I'll still drop by now and then, and we'll keep donating to Hope House."
- Evan Sabahnur has posed:
Evan nods, "I mean, I understand what you're saying, but you don't get people to stop hating you by hurting them. That just makes them hate you even more, and they take it out on the weak ones who can't fight back." He shakes his head, "I know I'm not going to change your mind, but maybe just think about it, ok? And since you're here, do you want a hamburger or a cheeseburger?" He steps back to the grill, where the next batch of burgers is just finishing up.
"I've also got hot dogs going, if you'd prefer." He slides the burgers onto a plate, giving Mystique a paper plat with her choice of burger on it. "Even the vengeful protectors of mutantkind have to eat, after all, so grab a seat and enjoy for a bit. I've got to keep things moving around here." He pauses, then adds "I'm glad you'll still be dropping by from time to time though. I hate losing friends."
- Raven Darkholme has posed:
"A cheeseburger, I think. And trust me, the whole cycle of violence thing has been talked around and around. Being nice didn't make a difference, so we'll just have to go the other way."
She sits at a nearby table with her burger and nods, saying "Neither do I, especially since I don't have all that many people I call a friend. So let's put philosophy aside and enjoy the food and company."
