Cast of Characters: Sprite, Mercy Thompson

Sprite has posed:
Wednesday night, August Twenty-Ninth. A more or less completely unmemorable day so far. Not a holiday, not anything special. Sprite shows up at Mercy's garage, dressed in jeans, and a leather bomber's jacket, along with hiking boots. She walks up to the door, giving a knock as she reaches it.

Mercy Thompson has posed:
Mercy just finished satisfying and urge she had. That of making some waffles form scratch. She's just chilling in her house, behind on laundry day, which is why she is not as dressed as Sprite is. She is instead rocking the old 'boyfriend' shirt and undies look. The house smells of syrup and sweet batter when the knock happens. She pauses to rub her nose and do a small sniff of the air. She hurries over to her things by the door. A rattle of metal upon metal can be heard through the door before it opens to show a grinning Mercy. "Hey! I was hoping to see you soon." She reaches out to try and pull Sprite into the home.

Sprite has posed:
Sprite lets herself be pulled, but she is decidedly more subdued than her normal impish demeanor. "Well...here I am." The corner of her mouth curves slightly up, in the faintest of smiles. "How have you been?" It's been a while since she's stopped in on the mechanic.

Mercy Thompson has posed:
"Good. I'm pretty good! I figured you have visited me sooner then now." She shuts the door and starts to mess with her keys. Pulling one off the chain as she spins the ring in her hands real quick. "You hungry? I got some spare waffles I have. I'm full so was just going to freeze them for later." Finally the key she was focused on comes free, "Gotcha!" Holding it out to Sprite. "Here! This is for you."

Sprite has posed:
"Was a little busy. My sister showed up in town." Sprite says, and looks over to the waffles. She enjoys Mercy's cooking, and seems tempted, but then demures. She reaches out a hand and accepts it, curiously. "What's this for?" she asks.

Mercy Thompson has posed:
"Um it is for making the door alter between locked and unlocked states. It's also an invitation for you to be welcome to my home any time. Even if it's just to give the cat some petting and worshiper as all cats think they should be." Mercy can tell something is up with Sprite but is trying to keep her good mood up. She knows her dear friend has her moody bouts. "So how is your sister? I think I'd die laughing if you ever met my half sisters."

Sprite has posed:
"To your place." Sprite says. "You never know. You work on cars. For all I knew you were trying to give me another one." She pockets the key, sliding it into her jeans. "She's a little concerned about this thing; the one that the JLD's been putting out the warnings about lately?" The young-looking Eternal asks.

Mercy Thompson has posed:
"Yes to my place. To the door you just walked through. If I ever give you another car it will be something special and more then just me in laundry day clothes." Mercy will still get a quarter of a waffle, a little bit of butter and a little bit of butter on it as well. No syrup though. The treat is brought over to the shorter woman, "Here. I heard about this thing called Galactus. Not sure what I can do or how I will help. Mostly I have been trying to keep an eye on the little things around the city while others look at the big picture. Times like this is when ghosts and other stuff can slip through the cracks."

Sprite has posed:
"Yeah. That seems to be a problem." Sprite says. "There may not be enough help out there. This may very well be the end for Earth. So. If it comes to that...I want to offer you an out." The redhead says, looking up to Mercy.

Mercy Thompson has posed:
"An out? What kind of thing are you talking here?" Mercy will take Sprite by the hands and sit down on the couch with her and face her. "If we're not on Earth where would we go?"

Sprite has posed:
"My Mother Box is capable of travel to other planets. Other dimensions. I can take you somewhere and drop you off." Sprite tells Mercy, uncharacteristically serious. "It would be different, but at least you'd still be alive. You could make a new start."

Mercy Thompson has posed:
"You said 'drop me off' meaning you'll stay here or come back to Earth to fight this danger?" Mercy shakes her head some and says, "If you're going into something like this, I'm going to be here to help. Even if it's to feed you treats after it is done. Besides I don't speak any alien languages."

Sprite has posed:
Sprite's quiet for a moment. "We were made to look over and shepherd Earth, Mercy. If there's no more Earth, there's no more purpose for me. Either I would be relocated to another world, or else that would finally be the end of me." A wry smile. "And they have translators, you know."

Mercy Thompson has posed:
"Hey there's is the smile I like." She looks over to Sprite. "If there's a risk of you being 'un-immortaled' you bet your ass I'll do what I can to mess this big threat up. Besides sometimes us bad luck magnets and tricksters have to stick and work together." Mercy will lean in and touch her forehead to Sprite's own. "I appreciate the idea. But this is our home here. So we'll stick with it no matter what. Okay?"

Sprite has posed:
"Would it really be so bad? I've lived a long, LONG time, Mercy. Some would say too long. This might be one of the only ways I CAN die. I'm not sure I'm a hundred percent on Team Win The Fight. Especially if I can make sure the people I care about are safe somewhere else." Her voice is, for her, oddly serious.

Mercy Thompson has posed:
"Ah. So I can just start to open my mind to possibilities. Get sent to another world, and be... alone. While you get yourself fired from a job? Before I get to learn all your best stories and best secrets?" Mercy scows at that. "Hell no. You bet get on Team 'Win' as it were. Because now I'm for sure staying here. So if you want me to be alive. You got to save me now."

Sprite has posed:
The Eternal looks back, frowning a touch. "I COULD just take you, you realize." There's a hint of petulance to her voice. "I'm powerful, but I'm not on the same level as "beat a cosmic force that eats planets" powerful. And don't think of it as being fire. More like...earning retirement."

Mercy Thompson has posed:
"You could try, But if you succeeded I would not ever bake you fresh cookies again." Mercy grins back at the woman, "Since when was 'power' ever either our strongest suits? I won plenty of fights with my brains and not over power." She shakes her head clearly having none of this defeatist talk. "Besides you gonna move your car too? You not even had it a decade yet."

Sprite has posed:
Sprite looks over, stressed. "I wouldn't HAVE the car. I wouldn't have anything! That's the whole point, Mercy! I could finally, FINALLY die." she says, looking to the other woman. "No more being the eternal child. No more being the eternal ANYTHING." She shakes her head, then stands. "I offered you an out. If you don't want to take it, that's on you."

Mercy Thompson has posed:
Mercy says, "You aren't a child. You are acting a bit like one now though." She stands as well and tries to force spite to turn again to face her. "Why would I take an 'out' and just leave everyone and everything behind. Would YOU do that?" She knew Sprite had her sad moments, but this seems more then that. "Come on Sprite. Don't give up and just leave."

Sprite has posed:
Sprite lets herself be turned. "Because then you'd be alive. You could have the rest of your life in front of you. And I don't want to see you die. I see everyone die." Her voice is flat. She's been all tangled up around this, and she's caught up in don't-knows and uncertainties. There's a sparkle of light over her form, and she seems to dissolve, Mercy's hand going through where she was. Childish or no, it seems she's had the last word on this.

Mercy Thompson has posed:
Mercy watches Sprite going to leave and tries to hold on as long as she can. That's when the onery side of Mercy expression comes out. "So.... like that then. Fine!" She just has to not die. Then go stop a god. "Won't the first impossible thing I have done. I just got to find an item and be more cleaver then most about it. Then that's what I'll do." She raises her voice, "No baking for you until you apologize for being a brat!"
