Cast of Characters: Raven Darkholme, Evan Sabahnur

Raven Darkholme has posed:
Missing mutants. It happened a lot in the world, and Mystique always tried to help in finding those she could. This time around it was right in Bushwick, a place the Brotherhood protected, and yet she had been unable to get away from the espionage she was in the middle of. To many pots to stir, not enough hands, maybe she should get Spiral to help.

The very day she had finished her in-depth mission at DARPA, the alias was dropped and she headed to Hope House. She had only second hand information and news reports to work with, and that was not how the woman did business. Evan worked in Bushwick at Hope House, he would know something and then she would have the first lead toward finding those who had done this.

Evan Sabahnur has posed:
Evan is doing what he does almost every day: Upkeep of Hope House. At the moment, he's under a desk in the corner of the common room, making some cables for the computer on said desk nice and neat. Cable ties are your friend. The computer is a new addition to the room, and a sign on the wall above it says "30 minute maximum unless previously approved."

He crawls out from under the desk and hits the power button on the computer, which begins to boot up. It's no gaming machine, but is decently up to date. By some additional cards and signs on the wall by it, it's there to make it easier for the inhabitants of Bushwick to look for employment. Looking over as the door opens, he smiles and gives a little wave "Heya Mystique, what's up?"

Raven Darkholme has posed:
Taking note of the number of people around, their locations, along with the exits, Mystique seems satisfied enough to offer up a hint of a smile. Hope House really was a necessity in Bushwick, not just for mutant but also those humans who called the area home.

"If you have a moment Evan, I would like to talk about what happened with and to the missing mutants," comes her blunt and to the point response. Normally she was one to play the game, lead up to the subject matter, it was almost her MO, but regarding mutants she rarely played the game.

"Is there some where private we could talk?" she then asks, knowing that most of Hope House usually has someone in it.

Evan Sabahnur has posed:
Evan nods, "Yeah, sure. We'll talk in the office." Heading into the back of the building, they pass through the kitchen, where they both get some friendly greetings from the people preparing food, go down a hall and into a small office. It's about big enough for a desk, two chairs and a filing cabinet.

He waves her to the other chair as he sits behind the desk, then says "I was on the raid to rescue them, so I can probably tell you anything you want to know. So ask away."

Raven Darkholme has posed:
Along the path to the office Mystique offers smiles, not her pretend ones, the real thing, to people along the way. She was grateful for each one of them helping out. All she could offer to Hope House was money, her time was eaten up by so many other things.

Once in the office, she settles herself into the offered chair and crosses one leg over the other. Another of her signature moves.

"I'll be honest with you," she begins, a hint of irritation to her tone. "I don't know anything about what happened. I was undercover at the time, and unable to even send in resources to scout the area or help out."

One breath, that's all she takes to calm herself back down. "I would like to know everything. Who was taken, how they are, who didn't make it, what happened to them, do we know anything about those responsible... the list of information requested goes on, but I would also like to state that Hope House will be not only getting a large donation, but I will be assigning a member of the Brotherhood as a guard. No one from this beautiful place will be taken, if those who started this try again before we can find them."

Evan Sabahnur has posed:
Evan looks across the desk at her for a minute, then nods slightly. "I'll accept that, as long as whoever you send fits in and doesn't frighten the people living here. No Sabretooth for example, but I could use someone to watch the place when I'm not here." He sits back a little, ordering events in his head.

"Over the past two weeks or so, we started seeing less of the homeless folks, the ones who for one reason or another don't want to live here, but stop in for meals and the like. I wasn't worried at first, they don't have real ties here, they might have moved on. But after a couple days, too many of them were gone. That's when I started putting out feelers, talking to folks on the streets who might know anything about it."

He shakes his head, "They were afraid, really afraid. I had to break out blankets and cots in the main room because of all the ones who suddenly wanted to be inside after dark. Captain Pezzini contacted me about the missing people, so I shared my info with her, she told me what she knew, and we ended up finding the location they were being taken to."

He lifts his eyes to look right into hers and says "It was an MGH ring, Mystique. The things they were doing to those poor people, those kids.... it's not right. I can't even comprehend how someone could do that to another person."

He takes a deep breath and calms his thoughts. "We lost six people who were too damaged by the.. " there's disgust and anger in his voice as he says "_harvest_ methods. Three more have permanently lost limbs, and all of them will have extensive scarring and disabilities for the rest of their lives."

"And the worst of all... it was an inside job. Sharkey was working with them. He'd gain someone's trust to lure them to where they could be taken."

Raven Darkholme has posed:
Sitting poised and comfortable, Mystique's face reveals no indication of her feelings as she listens to Evan. She had heard that the precinct in Bushwick was improving in regards to mutants, but never expected an actual Captain to care. That part was a surprise, but it didn't show.

As he stated it was MGH however, there is a flicker in her eyes of such rage that the idiom of 'if looks could kill' applied. Her body held the same pose, but her eyes filled to the brim with anger until she was forced to close them. Taking a deep breath, she continued to listen until he had finished.

"Please inform the families of the victims that the medical expenses for the treatment of their loved ones will be covered by a generous philanthropist," she states first, in a slow, calm voice that is clearly too calm. "I am afraid that I must ask youo act as a intermediary between myself and the families. I do not believe most would appreciate my involvement."

Slowly she opens her eyes and looks up at him, most of the rage contained but still there. "Human nature puts them at odds with one another, they battle and do monstrous things for greed, or love, or sometimes just because they can. We may not be human, Evan, but we are a part of the evolutionary chain of humans. Those disgusting traits are a part of us, until we become better than humans in that way as well." She straightens her back, then takes another deep breath.

"I will ensure that the guard I send is one of our more appeasing members, no Sabbertooth. Although he would scare off anyone who might think of trying something, he would also scare those in need." She manages a small faked chuckle. "As for this MGH ring, but you know they will try again. It may take them time to rebuild what they had, and it might be they take the lab outside of Bushwick, but but you know they will be back for our homeless."

Pulling out her phone she types a message with her thumps, then looks back to Evan. "I'm going to arrange for a large number of flyers to be put up around Bushwick, and have a phone number on it. Do you have the number of this Captain Pezzini or her unit? It should also go on the flyer." She turns the phone around to reveal the text.

--Buchwick protects our own. If you believe or suspect that someone has gone missing, don't stand idly by, call ###-###-#### or ###-###-#### and inform our agents.--

Evan Sabahnur has posed:
He nods, "That might help. I also plan to try and stay more on top of this sort of thing in the future. I can't catch everything of course, but hopefully I can spot trouble before things get as bad as they just were. And of course I'll let the families know. I appreciate anything you can do for them, no matter where the money comes from. But you're right, some of them might have a problem with the source of the money."

He considers for a moment, then adds "I'm also going to strongly suggest that the ones who need the most follow-up care consider moving to Genosha. I'm very certain the medical facilities there will give them much better care than the ones here. Not because I think all the ones here are prejudiced, but because Genoshan medicine is more up to date with all the differences mutations can cause."

Evan opens a desk drawer and pulls up a stack of business cards, offering one to Mystique. "The captain give me a bunch of these to give out so people know how to contact her or the precinct. Just so you know, she's not a normal human. She's got something magical, gives her all kinds of powers. She's an Avenger too, so we've got some fairly serious help in Bushwick for a change."

Raven Darkholme has posed:
"If it comes down to them wanting a name, tell them it is B. Byron Biggs," Mystique offers with a sly grin. "The man is a philanthropist, makes his money through investment and business deals, all above the table of course." Never mind he was Mystique alias.

"If they and their families are willing to move to Genosha, it will be arranged," comes her next statement. "They will be safer there, the medical facilities are designed for mutants and their uniqueness just as you said. We can arrange a shuttle flight just for them, once they are stable and able to be moved. I will inform Queen Lorna."

Reaching out to accept the card, Evan finally gets to see a reaction. Both of her brows lift to her hair line and she blinks once, "You have a pro-mutant, magical Avenger working here in Bushwick, and you are on a first name basis with this... Sara Pezzini?" She shakes her head and start to laugh. She was right, there were in fact some humans worth saving. "Well then, I feel that for the first time in a long time, there is actual help for the area. I had no idea, but then I tend to have my head more into mutant business, and it likely will stay there. This Captain shall remain your contact."

Evan Sabahnur has posed:
Evan smiles and nods, "Honestly, I think the police put her here in charge of their Special Investigations unit because they had no idea what to do with her once it came out she was an Avenger. But it worked out great for us, so I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth. But yeah, it'd probably be better if she didn't know we were getting help from the Brotherhood. She's got no problems with mutants, but you guys tend to go into the 'criminal' category, which would be a problem for a police officer."

"And yeah, I figured you'd be perfectly willing to relocate them if they want to go to Genosha. I'm actually going to bring it up to everyone I deal with here, just kind of mentioning that it's always an option. I know you'll take as many as decide to move. I figure some who wanted to stay may have been spooked enough by this that they take the Genosha option."

He stands and adds, "And if you'd like something, it's dinner time, so I have to get out there. Thanks for all the help you give us, even if most people never know who it's from."
