- Kitty Pryde has posed:
It wasn't the first time that Kitty Pryde had been contacted somewhat out of the blue related to her computer skills. Nor even the first time that such a contact had come from someone affiliated with the Avengers. As Pepper Potts had once called on behalf of Stark Industries to offer Kitty a job, after JARVIS had tracked a hack that fixed issues with a Stark green power initiative in Mutant Town, back to Kitty. Thanks to Rogue having used the VM Kitty used to watch "Hot Fuzz" off a streaming platform.
But this time it wasn't Tony Stark or Pepper Potts, but the monarch of Wakanda. Kitty had sat up straight in her chair upon getting the call, and enthusiastically agreed to come take a look at whatever King T'Challa had called to seek her help on.
And to be honest, she was really interested in getting a look at Wakandan technology. Though so far it had all seemed fairly mundane. Though the computer had a great interface that included impressive holographics, she couldn't really tell what was 'under the cover'. But the project itself was enough to have made the trip worthwhile.
"Alright, the new code module is compiling. I think that should resolve the translation issues between the different systems," she says. Kitty is wearing a black skirt and a white blouse, her hair hanging down her back in a ponytail. She finishes typing a few commands for real-time monitoring of the job, before glancing over towards where T'Challa is watching the monitor.
- T'Challa has posed:
T'Challa is sitting a few feet away, watching Kitty's work from his own workstation -- that is being monitored by a few dozen of his IT security people just to make sure Kitty doesn't leave anything behind that could be used to gain unauthorized access to their servers. He is not much at all for code. After a few moments he stands up, and strides over to where Kitty is working, leaning over her shoulder to watch the program compile.
"So, once it is compiled, it will run on it's own, and you can start cracking the encryption that is built around this unwanted...file?" He asks. Again, not the most tech savvy. He means program, but it IS a .exe file that is running, so he's on the right track.
- Kitty Pryde has posed:
Though Kitty has been friend to Atlantian and Asgardian princes, and even to the Empress of a galactic empire, she still can't help but feel the occasional butterfly from the Wakandan monarch's presence. Though the man's gentle demeanor and that voice that somehow manages at once to be smooth and have a deep rasp, has so far quickly quelled them each time.
"Yes, Your Majesty," Kitty replies. "Once the issues with the connections are resolved, then we'll be able to make a real run at breaking the device's encryption," she assures him. Not knowing exactly what the device is. Only that T'Challa needs access to it and difficulties ensued. Firstly due to some difference in the communication protocols, which lead Kitty to believe it is, at best foreign, and possibly even extra-terrestrial.
No gotchas planted by the young X-man either, his security people would confirm. The probably make a few private comments to his communications that speak well to the young woman's computer skills.
"You know I had hoped to come to the costume party your embassy hosted awhile back," Kitty says, speaking of an event a year or so in the past. "Though was unable to make it that night. I have to say, it's even more impressive to see from the inside, than the outside is," she says, glancing around the room.
- T'Challa has posed:
There is a bit of code that seems to catch T'Challa's eye, and he points to it, asking, "Will that still work, even with all of the red around it? I do not see that anywhere else." As he asks this, he looks down at the woman seated next to him, as if evaluating her response.
The comment about the costume party gets a small smile, "Perhaps we will have to have another one then Ms. Pryde. What did you plan on dressing up as?" he asks, perhaps just polite conversation, while the two work and wait for the code to actually start /doing/ something.
- Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty clicks on a part of the code, opening up another window with the function's definition. She skims through it and nods. "Yes, it should autocorrect the issues switching between binary, and the trinary communication protocol that the device is using," she says.
She gets a soft grin. "Well, I probably would have worn something else," she says as she pulls out her phone. "This is what I wore around the school that year though," she says, opening up a folder of old Halloween photos and flipping through a photo that has Lockheed the space dragon dressed up pants and a shirt that match those usually worn by Calvin, while Kitty is in a tiger outfit that shows just her face, made out to be Hobbes.
"Maybe... well, Princess Leia is kind of an overdone one to wear somewhere like this," she says, stopping on a photo of herself as Leia. It's in the white dress with her hair up on each side like in the original movie. Not slave Leia from the third movie.
"If you did, I'd have to come up with something interesting for sure," she says, turning and smiling to T'Challa.
The computer beeps, signaling completion of the compile. "Ok, your people should be able to run their next attempt them," she says, her part done unless they encounter more issues.
- T'Challa has posed:
"We will reach out if there are any further complications. My people should probably be able to handle it from here. I hope." T'Challa replies, before his eyes move to the pictures that Kitty shows. He reaches out to gently take the phone from her, to focus on a couple of them, and then nods, "I will make sure that the next time we hold one of these parties, that you are on the invitation list. I am sure you would be very...popular." His eyes glance to hers for a second, and then he hands the phone back.
- Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde takes the phone back with a blushing smile as she rises. "Thank you, Your Majesty," she tells him. "Halloween often ends up being an odd time for us. Sometimes I think the school must be located on some ley line or something. We had a spiritual version of the Headless Horseman show up, along with Bloody Mary, last Halloween," Kitty says, giving a tiny shudder as she pockets her phone again, her arms going about herself for a moment at the memory of entering the room where Bloody Mary waited.
She glances back at the holographic computer controls. "I admit this is nicer than what we have even in the base. Forge would be jealous. Not that I'll mention this to anyone, even the other X-men," she says. "I do hope this accomplishes what you needed. And I'm flattered that you called me to help with it," she says with a grateful smile.
