This is Only a Test
Date of Scene: 05 July 2020
Location: The Danger Room - Titan's Tower
Synopsis: Tests inconclusive, live fire test incoming.
Cast of Characters: Dick Grayson, Mary Bromfield

Dick Grayson has posed:
Nightwing had gotten a memo that one of the prospects wished to have her abilities tested, or at least to help figure out what the upper limits are. As such, he arranged for the danger room, showing a display of a standard training room, with plenty of dummies made of various materials are arranged across it for target practice/melee targeting.

Nightwing himself is there with one of his sticks attached to his belt, but in his full getup, because secrecy is important. He is leaning up against the wall, tossing up and catching the other stick as he waits.

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Thunderbolt shows up right on time, of course, stepping into the Danger Room with a smile, "Hi, thanks for taking the time, Nightwing." She looks around curiously, seeing the training dummies and the other targets around. She isn't flying in or hovering right now, just looking curiously towards Nightwing as she asks, "How exactly would we be doing this?"

She's wearing her standard superhero attire, the red skirt and blouse with the lightning bolt, and a golden sash and short white cape.

Dick Grayson has posed:
Nightwing stows the escrima stick when Mary arrives, punctuality is appreciated. He steps forward and gestures to the first two dummies, one made of oak and another made of a sturdy polymer, each being twelve feet apart from the other.

When Nightwing responds, his tone is businesslike, but not harsh, "Good afternoon. Your first task will be to destroy these two as quickly as possible. This is more of a baseline to see how you would do it and in what sort of time." With that, Nightwing steps aside to give Thunderbolt the room she needs."

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Thunderbolt nods, "Okay..." and then... she MOVES. Fast enough that it might give a Flash a run for their money as she darts rapidly forward in a blur, her fist quickly connecting with the chest of the oaken practice dummy, shattering it into splinters as... well, it's a practice dummy, so she doesn't hold back.

And she was told to destroy it, so... she figures there's probably more!

Then she spins in a blur and brings her hands down in an overhead smash on the polymer dummy, sending it to the ground in a rather crumpled mess.

Dick Grayson has posed:
Nightwing watches, making mental notes as he observes the speed and force from the prospect, "Good, good," he notes. With a snap of his fingers two more dummies roll out, each made of steel and being twenty four feet apart, "Same drill, different dummies," Nightwing says, "Also they are going to add another twist to it." At that comment, the dummies begin moving side to side, but not in a discernable pattern, more randomly than that.

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Thunderbolt nods, actually hovering a bit now as she then flies in towards the first dummy. Instead of just smashing it, she soars in and actually grabs it, ripping it out of the floor without too much effort.

Then, she flies over towards the second dummy, using the first one as a blunt object to smash it as the only minor delay is just her making sure that she connects with the random shifting of the dummies. Otherwise, it's just about the same routine, as she then flashes a bit of a grin at Nightwing.

Dick Grayson has posed:
"Creative, I'll allow it," Nightwing says with approval, "Now we get to see them fight back," a snap of his fingers follows. With that, five dummies come forward, though this time they have arms and appear to be in a defensive stance, ready to defend themselves, and are actually very capable of doing so, as well as stepping away or in to get better shots or to avoid getting hit.

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Thunderbolt nods, "Okay..." She then flies at the first one, nimbly twisting out of the way to avoid the hit as she grabs it by the arms, then literally 'disarms' it, pulling out the arms with a swift tug. Again, robots, not actual people!

As she does that, two of the other dummies reach out, grabbing her arms... which causes her to pause for a second before she brings her arms together, as if they weren't even restrained, smashing the pair of dummies together. Dropping them, she looks at the remaining pair...

And she just flies right into them, smashing them together too and not belaboring the point as she pulverizes them. She does, however, look pretty satisfied as she glances over at Dick with a bit of a grin.

Dick Grayson has posed:
"Well done," Nightwing says with some applause, "How is your heartrate doing? Feeling any exhaustion?" He inquires, again mentally noting things for the record. "Seems that you tend to move quickly enough, and hit hard enough, for the vast majority of these. Obviously, we cannot fully test the upper limits of your powers, but we can note a good deal from this. Do you have anything in particular you wish to see maxed-out?"

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Thunderbolt shakes her head, "Oh, I'm feeling great, not even a bit winded." She smiles over at Nightwing, "I didn't really have anything to test, as such... I mean, I felt a little... ah..." She blushes a bit. "Well, I know I can do a lot, but I also didn't want to look like I was bragging, you know? When I could tell all of you what I could do. But I've found that... um, well, when I was fighting Warworld at Jupiter's orbit, it seemed like I kept pace pretty well with Supergirl and Power Girl there."

She coughs a bit, "I mean, I'm not used to thinking of it like that, but... I don't have heat vision, but I can channel lightning. Hence the Thunderbolt." She grins, "Did you know that Jupiter has the most powerful electrical storms in the solar system?" Well, now there's a couple Warworld battlecruisers that do!

Dick Grayson has posed:
"Hm, interesting," Dick says pensively as he then pulls out a phone and jots down some notes, "I did not, but I will add that as well." He snorts in amusement at the ex-battlecruisers, "Well, that will work." But as he goes to type notes he frowns as the phone begins beeping loudly.

"Well, looks like there might be a field test of your abilities. Grab your stuff, we ride now." Dick begins making his way towards the vehicle, expecting Mary to follow.

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Thunderbolt nods, "Sounds good, let's go!" She walks out with Dick, not outpacing him since, well... he knows where they're going. "Any word on what it is, exactly?" She smiles, looking a bit pumped up from the training exercises.
