Jumping on to a good book
Date of Scene: 18 June 2021
Location: Titan's Tower Kitchen
Synopsis: Nadia runs into Kaida reading a book, science is discussed and lab invites go out!
Cast of Characters: Kaida Connolly, Nadia Pym-van Dyne

Kaida Connolly has posed:
A green book with some hexagonal design on the front flops up on to a counter top in the Titan's Tower kitchen. Then a moment later the refrigerator pops open and out pops a hunk of cheese. Then the cheese hops on to the counter. A moment later the textbook which says Biochemistry at the top flops open and a small figure leaps over as it does.

"Excellent!" The small mouse declares and slices off a hunk of cheese and begins to pace along a paragraph, munching as she reads. Her eyes skimming over to a diagram before going back to the paragraph.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Nadia's migrations within the tower are pretty well documented and can be charted between the lab and the common room kitchen with fair regularity centering around her supply of coffee and when it has run out.

So it is that the elevator doors ding open and a mug bearing lab coat wearing Nadia steps into the space making a beeline for the kitchen. At first she seems a bit oblivious, whatever she has been working on has probably been worked on longer than she really should have. But once her mug has been filled from the ever present full coffee pot and some of the hot caffeinated liquid has passed her lips, life seems to return to the young woman.

It is only then that she blinks looking around as if taking in her surroundings for the first time. "Oh, hi Kaida. When did you get here?" More coffee, she definitely needs more coffee.

Kaida Connolly has posed:
"Just a few minutes ago!" She declares as she stares at the paragraph and finally stops to look up and bite off another hunk of cheese. She peers at the coffee briefly and shakes her head as a decision on that thought and instead slices off. another hunk of cheese.

"What's up?" She asks and idly hops off the book and then sits on the edge to better talk to Nadia.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
"Coffee." Nadia replies holding up her oversized novelty mug full of the hot steaming liquid that sustains her continued sleepless existence. "What are you reading?" She asks curiously.

It is only then that she spies the cheese. "Oooh cheese! Great idea!" Nadia then proceeds to rummage through the refrigerator for a hunk of cheese of her own and some of Caitlin's crusty homemade bread to snack on.

Kaida Connolly has posed:
"Ooo! Bread!" She pokes at her small plate and grins, "Get me some!" She nods her head and then she carefully puts a bookmark in place and then flips the book shut and points at the cover.

"Biochemistry, fourth edition. There's several editions still in circulation and used!" She then laughs to herself and shakes her head as she chews on some cheese.

"Biochemsitry writers aren't very creative."

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
"Most textbooks aren't." Nadia concedes slicing off some bread for Kaida as well. Bread, cheese, and coffee seem to bring some vitality back to her.

"Biochemistry is pretty cool, not my main specialty but I've dabbled in it here and there."

Kaida Connolly has posed:
"I love it!" She grins and grabs a hunk of bread and begins to combine it with cheese in a crude bread roll. Once she has smooshed things together, she hops. back on to the edge of the book to sit.

"You learn about and understand the chemical reactions that make biological creatures function. The chemistry of life!" She giggles and nods excitedly. "This includes, what makes you and I think." She taps her head and then bites into the bread cheese squish again.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
"Biochemistry is pretty neat!" Nadia agrees. "My dad used it to give my Step-Mom powers. I also experimented on myself a bit to internalize Pym Particles so I could escape the Red Room." Whatever that is, she doesn't elaborate.

"What I'm really interested though is trying to create a Theory of Everything, now just how we work and thing, but how everything works, how are dimensions created, what are gods, where does magic fit in to physics, /everything/."

Kaida Connolly has posed:
A grin and she laughs and nods, "Sounds really cool! Probably impossible but a worthwhile pursuit. I imagine it'll lead to a lot of interesting questions!" She laughs and nods, "That is why I got into biochemistry in the first place. So many interesting questions!" She nods and starts rolling up another bread and cheese ball.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Nadia tilts her head sipping some more coffee from her giant mug. "Impossible? Is anything really impossible though? Once people thought humans flying was impossible or going into space was impossible. I don't believe in impossible. If we understand the very foundations of reality, nothing is impossible." She winks finding a place to lean.

Nadia thinks for a moment, "You know, if you really like science, you could come check out my lab initiative Genius in Action Research Laboratories. We have a few members who do really interesting things with genetics and biology."

Kaida Connolly has posed:
"Well, just seems like once you answer how the universe works, you then have a question as to why it works that way and then what made it work that way and then what made that work that way and on and on and on." She waves a hand, "Always a bigger fish." She chuckles and shrugs, "But I might just be over thinking it." She nods and then tilts her head and grins

"What?! That sounds super neat!" She smiles and leaps up before landing and chomping on cheese and bread, "I used to work in a lab. It is where I was when I became this."

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
"Nobody has been transformed or transmogrified in our labs yet." Nadia chuckles, "But we do all kinds of work. We try to help people and solve the science challenges that seem to come hand in hand with a lot of the major threats that seem to appear more and more these days. But more so I just wanted girls to have more role models and heroes in STEM and show the old boys club girls can do it just as well if not better." She pauses and then stage whispers, "I think we can do it better."

Kaida Connolly has posed:
A giggle and she nods, "I definitely am super good with biochemistry and am interested in branching into biomechanics. I'd love to work with other girls who are I to science!" She nods her head, "So, definitely up for coming to see. I usually don't use science to solve things but most criminals I find only take a good punch!" She laughs.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Nadia pushes off from the spot she has been leaning and tops off her mug of coffee. "Science can help you punch them better though. But I don't really mean regular criminals, more like Brainiac or the War World invasion. After Brainiac bottled those cities using methods unknown to Earth it took a lot of SCIENCE!ing to figure out how to restore them. There was also no way to punch the War World, that thing was able to annihilate planets, so we inserted a computer virus into its core instead and forced it to retreat. That's just two examples though. Right now we're trying to help a girl named Mori and we might need to go into space in order to deal with her problems. We're also having some problems with a group that might be from the future."

She takes a moment to stretch as no matter how much caffeine she takes in the fatigue still manages to creep into her muscles. "Anyway, the GIRL labs are on the Pym Technologies campus, drop by sometime and I'll give you a tour."

Kaida Connolly has posed:
"Sounds super cool! I especially like the idea about going into space cause I have never been." Kaida nods and considers, "I had been on the sidelines for a lot of that. Still trying to figure myself out. Still doing it now!" She laughs and nods, "I want to help and if you think I might, then I am in! Just now lab mice!" She waggle a finger, "I am big on no experimenting on mice. Some are pretty darn smart!"
