Carol Phone Home
Date of Scene: 23 September 2021
Location: Milano Cockpit and Triskelion
Synopsis: Carol phones home and chats with Carter about the bad turn of events with Thanos
Cast of Characters: Carol Danvers, Peggy Carter

Carol Danvers has posed:
Carol has already had a chat with Commander Brand and caught her up on what has been keeping her off planet for the last few weeks. She has the SWORD Commander route her through to SHIELD, back at the good ol' Triskelion or where ever they are setup.

God knows she is pretty sure she won't get Fury who knows what the ol' man is up to but she will take Carter or Hill depending on where control routes the call.

When she is put up on the screen Agent Danvers is kicked back sideways in the co-pilot seat of what looks like a cockpit of some sort of completely non-regulation craft, an unfamiliar starscape behind her. She has been multitasking while she waited to be connected to someone.

Peggy Carter has posed:
It's Carter who gets the call. She's Chief of, well... Everywhere nowadays. The Playground and the Triskelion, only Fury out ranking her and that's when he decides to come home. She's got her left arm in a regulation navy sling, clearly having been in some sort of altercation, but looks prim and proper as ever otherwise. She's even managed to get her hair waves to work today.

"Well, Captain...you're a sight for sore eyes. Decided to call back home and make certain the little blue planet hasn't blown itself up yet?" Peggy asks, her tone of voice more teasing beneath that British accent than chiding. She is happy to see Carol.

Carol Danvers has posed:
There is a laugh and Carol nods incling her head. She doesn't shift to sit up proper or straighter though, just staying how she is. "I thought it would be best to call in and let people now I halfn't lost Agent Finley or Ava Starr yet and make sure things are okay."

Honestly she looks bloody exhausted, though it can't possibly be physical must be mental or emotionally.

"Things did ... not go as I had hoped though on this trip to space. Right now we are on the border of the Kree Empire considering what we may need to do next." she inhales and thne just sighs. "Things went very bad though. We took a shot at ... well it is in the report I put in about taking some time in space. Entity's name is Thanos, Mad Titan out to cull half of the galaxy, something which he has a long shot at it turns out. We did not succeed in removing him from the board though."

Peggy Carter has posed:
Peggy's expression darkens just a bit. She hasn't ever been best friends with Carol, but they've had some close times. She's good at reading people, and seeing that look on the Alien's face is enough to make all the joking set aside. She sits up straighter, hands around her tea. "Alright. And I'll...read the report. I will. But talk to me first. You look like you've aged a decade. What happened?" Get it off your chest. Peggy is leaving a gentle open door for the other woman. A shoulder for her to lean on, even across light years of space.

Carol Danvers has posed:
"Thanos killed my deceased lovers kid in front of me. She was the one who asked me to help her stop Thanos from succeeding at his mission of galactic genocide and rescue one of the Guardians of the Galaxy." she rubs her face with an ungloved hand.

"I got all of the others out of there alive, though some were pretty badly wounded. The Quantum Bands, Pyla-Vell's artifact... think Thor's hammer transfered themselves to Ava Starr picking her as the new Protector of the Galaxy. We need to make sure is stablized though... which is why we may need to stop at the Kree Capital Hala... where I'm enemy #1." a sour smile.

"On top of that Thanos's Black Order.. think of a crew of Villains like the Justice League in power scope, are out trying to get the tools for Thanos to kill half of the life in the Galaxy in a great Rebalancing.. so I need to help them stop them from getting those tools."

Peggy Carter has posed:
"...Bloody hell." That's as close as Peggy Carter ever comes to outright swearing, and for someone born and bred British, not a word she ever uses lightly. "...Shit. Carol. I'm... so sorry." Dark eyes truly seem to ache for the other woman. It's not just platitudes of a commander, but a woman who is a friend, and who is used to losing people in the field. It never gets easier.

Peggy lets the silence linger between them for a few moments, dragging one hand down her face as she considers just what she can say to Carol to make this any better. There aren't words. She takes another breath and a momentary sip of her tea before finally asking, "What do you need from us? How can I help?"

Carol Danvers has posed:
She nods to the video feed. Whatever tech she is using it is amazing there is no lag, especially considering she is literally on the edge of Kree space. Damn alien tech. It is also clear she appreciates the sentiment, a faint sad smile on her lips.

"Well, be forgiving if someone ends up showing up someday for revenge because I killed their genocidal brother, I definitely put down one of the Black Order for good i nthe fight. I guess be patient with Agent Finley and Starr, I'll get them back as soon as I can and try to keep them alive.

She considers "Brand should be able to send me a message if we have another bunch of assholes like the Shi'ar show up. I can get back to earth pretty quick so I expect to split some time between here and back home to be honest.. hunting the rest of the order and removing them one by one will be a long term thing."

Peggy Carter has posed:
"I'm 100 years old, Carol. I know how to practice patience. Especially when my people are off doing other things to save the universe, not just earth. Just... bring them home someday. And yourself too, hmm? You deserve some time back here. Some time *off*, after all of this. So... finish up what you can. Get the other ladies back here... and take your time to grieve. Revenge will always be there. Grief... it needs time to live. Or it will always be there too. As big, and loud, and awful as ever, ready to rip wounds open you didn't know were still bleeding. Come home, Carol. We'll be waiting for you." Peggy's not always the best at speeches, but when she cares -- really cares -- sometimes there's some true wisdom from her lips. She means every word she just said, not drinking her tea or doing anything but staring at Carol throught he camera, heart in her voice.

Carol Danvers has posed:
Carol nods "Hard to take time off in our business Carter." she notes grimly. "It isn't just revenge. I won't lie to you and say I don't want revenge on Thanos... that would be a lie. Still he is aiming to collect the most dangerous thing in creation and weaponize it. I need to make sure that does not happen."

"I'll talk to Finley and Starr, see if I can get them to come back after we stabilize Starr and make sure she doesn't fall into the quantum realm or something.... I'll do my best to keep them alive."

"I appreciate it though. I'll get back as soon as I can... call if you need us though as soon as you know you do."

In the background someone bellows "I AM GROOT!" and there is a crash.

"I should... make sure everything is okay. I'll report back in soon or be back."

Peggy Carter has posed:
Peg is about to say something more, but then her brows arch at the strange calling in the background. She simply tilts her head, eyes questioning as her lips do not. Finally, she gives a simple, short nod. "Of course, Danvers. Go, take care of... Things. You know where to find us, and I'll call you if we need. But, well, we've held the Earth together this long. I think we can manage a bit longer." Peggy flashes her a bit of a smile with that. "Carter out." And the connection goes dead, leaving them both in the silence of space and their own thoughts.
