Cast of Characters: Carol Danvers, Steve Rogers

Carol Danvers has posed:
Things have just been rough. Like mega big ooof rough for many weeks now culminating in a fairly explosive exit from Hala. Finley and Ghost are back with SHIELD and after making sure everyone is as okay as they can be Carol makes her way over to Avengers HQ.

"Jarvis, can you see who is local right now and ask them to meet me in the meeting room. I should probably fill someone in on my shity life." she pauses "Don't tell them that last part... just say I have some intel on a probable long term threat and want to pass on the intel if they are around."

She finishes the trek to the meeting room rubbing her face with her hand and pushing her hair out of it before snagging a bottle of Starks sparkling water from the stash he keeps in a hidden fridge and settling boneless into the chair she usually snags when she is around for these sort of things.

Steve Rogers has posed:
The Avengers Mansion has been pretty quiet as of late. Beyond the dinner Steve hosted, it's largely been a ghost town. Sure, people have been in and out, but the Avengers are largely busy with their own things. Except Steve. Sure, he has hobbies and Janet, but really, not much else. Some days he feels like a tired old man puttering around the mansion by himself, with only some old music and Jarvis to keep him company.

This is why Carol only really gets a moment to herself. Steve was in the lounge, reading the newspaper with some coffee. He rolls into the meeting room with two steaming mugs in his hands. One of which he deposits in front of Carol before he slips around the table to sit across from her to give his full attention. "Welcome back to Earth, Captain," he says with all of the formality. He takes a sip of his coffee, before he smiles, relaxing. "It's good to see you, Carol. What kind of mess did you find out there?"

Carol Danvers has posed:
R    Carol twists the top off the bottle of water that should be opened with a bottle cap opener with the casual nature people with super strength just have. She sips it before leaning back and looking up at the ceiling.

When Steve comes in she tilts her head to watch him and then glances at the door. "Jarvis is anyone else home?" not that she minds Steve, he is the go to for stuff like this, or Stark, but she is unaware of what a ghost town it has been. <<No Captain Danvers>> is the response and she just blinks and looks back to Steve.

"Nothing remotely good." she sounds, weary and tired. It is questionable if she even can be physically tired, but emotionally she is absolutely exhausted. "Quaser, Phyla-Vell came to earth and asked for my assistance... I mean she came to find her mother.. my ex.. but she is dead.. didn't even know she had a daughter. I agreed to help her rescue some of the Guardians of the Galaxy from Thanos." she just stops. "Ugn one sec..."

She fiddles with her suit sleeve and connects to the holodisplay talking while she does. "Guardians are ... well they want to be heroes really, been to earth actually but mostly operate out there doing jobs. Any chance you met them when they were laying low on planet during the whole Shi'ar thing?"

Steve Rogers has posed:
Steve is a good listener. Especially when it's important. He remains silent, his expression serious as she starts to explain. He's vaguely familiar with Phyla-Vell from briefings and whatnot, but the realities of cosmic events are outside of his wheelhouse.

"I may have. That was a busy time," he answers in regard to the Guardians. "Always nice to have the help out there, I imagine."

Carol Danvers has posed:
Carol handwobbles "They try hard... they are pretty rough though around the edges but their heart is in the right place I guess you would say. Lot of reformed criminals in the group."

She finally connects to the display and pulls up what she needs. "So Thanos. Probably the worst supervillain, which isn't really the right term, out there right now. He keeps an army and conquers worlds. Puts half of them to the sword in a genocidal quest to balance life in the Universe." she spins up a picture of him, full 3D holograph with a giant ass glaive weapon. "His luiteninents are a crew known as the Black Order... basically a lot of Justice League level villains in one group carrying out his mission and war with his troops." the holographic display shows several individuals and then collapses them down to an FBI style wanted board. One prominently marked deceased.

"We managed to get Nebula back from them off his capital ship.. Sancutary II.. he keeps it in hyperspace really." she shows it next, it is massive.

Her voice gets even more tired sad really. "Phyla died though.. Quasar... Thanos is way more powerful than I would have thought and he managed to take out the Protector of the Galaxy." like it is a very important title. "I got the others out alive but.. he was harnessing hyperspace energy in a way I'd never seen. We couldn't defeat him... I did take out one of the order though getting everyone out."

Steve Rogers has posed:
Steve looks grim as the holgrams flit through. He takes some extra time eyeballing the Thanos render. He's clearly not pleased about this. He signed up once to stop genocide. This guy isn't any different.

His expression softens slightly. "I'm sorry for your loss, Carol. It never gets any easier." He gives it a moment, silence in memory of someone he never knew, but one who was important to a friend. Compassion comes easy for Steve, like it always has.

"Thanos sounds like a rough piece of work. We got odds on him coming here?"

Carol Danvers has posed:
"Thank you sTeve... it.. I'm still processing it. Like losing a piece of Mar-Vell again." she just shakes her head and reaches to snag the water and sips it in silence as she recollects her thoughts.

"Thing is about Thanos.. I don't know. I know what he is after now and it is a really bad problem. He is after artifacts called the Infinity Stones. He almost got one but the Guardians stopped him. They are... well myths and legends on a galactic scale but evidently real. Unimaginiably powerful alone but together they could probably do.. literally anything... including galaxy wide genocide. So at all costs we.. we being anyone with sense.. needs to make sure he doesn't succeed there. I'll be probably taking forays out to weaken his army.. remove more of his Black Order... but right now the Guardians need to do a lot more intel."

She flicks the display over to Ava Starr and Finley. SHIELD Agents. "These two were out there with me, attached through SWORD. Ava needed help from Phyla to stabilize her Quantum condition... which .. the Q-Bands.. another ridiculously powerful artifact that puts the bearer in my league honestly... attached to Ava when Phyla died. They choose their wielder and evidently she is worthy. Then Finley got infected with nanites on Hala.. the Kree homeworld. So we had to come home. They are with SHIELD having Finley checked out." she frowns. "It was almost a complete failure of a mission Steve."

Steve Rogers has posed:
Steve takes another sip of coffee, his expression thoughtfully grim. This sounds very, very bad. He's never heard of these magic rocks, but he trusts Carol and believes what she says.

"Yeah. This sounds bad. Real bad. One: I think we should get all hands on deck here for this, start to prep just in case we have to send a team to space to help you with this. Two: I should probably reach out to the Justice League, get them looped in. Just in case. I'd rather not have this guy and his goons drop in on Earth and leave them surprised."

Carol Danvers has posed:
"Yeah we should fill the League in as well on this mess. I doubt one of the rocks is here on earth but the way our luck runs I wouldn't be entirely surprised if it was." she just sighs at the very thought. "This is a boogyman who keeps the Kree and other empires up at night is part of the problem. Lunatic but with immense power."

"Not sure when we will have intel on the stones or black order targets but I'll be getting SWORD on it and it would be good to have Avenger and League backup when punch comes to shove. Should also make sure to tell the Lanterns about the new threat."

Steve Rogers has posed:
Steve nods, his posture shifting rapidly towards Business Mode. The list of things that he needs to do rapidly starts to go through his brain. The list is pretty long.

Not like he has anything else to do.

"If you need to get back to space, I'll start handing out the information to the League, the Lanterns and whoever else needs it, if you want to andle SWORD and SHIELD."

Teamwork makes the dream work. Even if the dream is staving off a possible nightmare.

Carol Danvers has posed:
"I could definitely use some help wrangling it up. Mostly because I honestly have no idea when I will be yanked back into space." she frowns at the thought. "I'm pretty sure the Director wants me around fot a bit though so I'll do what I can in the meantime."

She makes little flick gestures on the small holodisplay in front of her towards the bigger one. "I'm giving Jarvis all the files I have on Thanos, the Sanctuary II, and the Black Order. Happy to let you take point like you laid out. I'll make myself as available as possible for any folk with deeper questions. Honestly we should have a couple guarded questions with people to make sure no one has anything that might be a stone too while we are at it... Thanos hitting Earth is even worse of an outcome.... though I doubt any are here. Hard to hide something so unfanthomably powerful."

Steve Rogers has posed:
"Who knows at this point," Steve says with a shrug. "There's so much power on this planet at this point. I bet there's all kinds of weird and powerful artifacts stashed around that we don't know about." He pauses. "That's a bad thing."

He slugs the rest of his coffee in one go. "I'll get some of this stuff from Jarvis and take it to the League. It's been a minute since I've talked with Superman. He'll definitely want to know this might be a problem."

Carol Danvers has posed:
"Yeah Supes should be told and the lanterns for sure." she sits up more fully snagging the bottle of water and rolling her head until she gets her neck to crack.

"Oh I also may have caused an intergalactic incident on Hala. They probably think the three of us murdered a scientist... it looked like a lab accident when we got to his lab to see if he could help Ava but I imagine they will blame us.. especially since Ava went full Quasar to get Finley home after the nanites infected her in the middle of the city... probably some property damage. Hopefully the Kree aren't dumb enough to send hunters."

She slips up to her feet. "I'm going to head to SWORD HQ and report in there." it is probably telling she dropped off her fellow agents then came here before going to report to SWORD.

Steve Rogers has posed:
"Hoo boy. Alright, I'll make a note to be ready for Angry Kree just in case," Steve says. He picks up his coffee cup and frowns at the fact that it's empty. With a sigh, he rises, suddenly feeling very creaky. So much work to do.

"I need more coffee to deal with this, so I'll walk you out on my way to the kitchen." He pauses a second. "It's good to have you back planetside, Carol. Even if it's just for a bit. You've been missed."

Carol Danvers has posed:
"Well Fury and Jarvis have my number if there is ever an emergency when I am off planet. I can get back here... remarkably fast all things considered." she offers a smile. "Nice to be missed though."

She takes Stark's fancy water bottle with her as she heads for the exist with Steve. "I'm just glad there has been a pause with no alien invasions for a couple months... that was getting old."
