Cast of Characters: Finley Ellison, Ava Starr

Finley Ellison has posed:
The world has seemed too bright ever since Finley'd opened her eyes in the Med Bay. There's an underlying buzzing to everything she can't quite track. Her head aches. And there's a constant itch like something crawling under her skin. She makes a small noise of discontent.

Ava Starr has posed:
Finley's awakening was simultaneously a tremendous relief and an even deeper concern to Ava. Relieved, yes, that Finley seems to have come through this in one piece, if considerably changed. Concerned, however, at just what those changes entail... what they mean.

However, she's spent days by Fin's side and that doesn't change now. When she hears that noise of discontent, she looks up from her contemplation of the ebb and flow of energies around Finley, into her eyes. "Are you okay?"

Finley Ellison has posed:
"I feel weird,' Finley says."It...hurts?" Her voice sounds soft and broken from lack of use. She reaches out a hand for Ava. She wants to curl up in the field of energy that Ava can provide where nothing will touch them. Just the two of them and nothing else. For the first time, she truly understands the appeal.

Ava Starr has posed:
Ava takes Finley's hand, rubbing her thumb over the back of her palm. Her green eyes darken with concern. "Hurts how? I can find the doctor..." She knows how much energy fields can hurt. Thus she doesn't know what good the doctors will do. But they haven't actually harmed Finley in any way, as far as she can see. And they did work to try to revive her. So, Ava will extend them the benefit of the doubt -- at least to Drs Lewis and Simmons, anyway. "Dr. Simmons might be able to help..."

Finley Ellison has posed:
"The lights are bright. My head hurts. My skin is crawling. And that buzzing. Do you hear buzzing?" As Ava looks away to search for help, Finley tugs on her hand. "Don't go. Stay with me? Please?"

Ava Starr has posed:
"I'll stay," Ava promises, giving Fin's hand a squeeze. "Just let me turn off the lights for you." She releases her partner's hand long enough to retreat the to door and shut off the lights, leaving them with only the glow of the machines and what light spills in from the hallway. Then, she returns, picking up Finley's hand again and raising it to her lips. She gives her knuckles a gentle kiss.

"I don't hear any buzzing, love," she tells her. "But it could be you're hearing the nanites." She frowns a little, expression a beetle-browed mixture of concern and puzzlement. "I can try to see what they're doing, energy wise, but that's about it. Do you want me to see if the doctor can give you any pain killers?" With her free hand, she lifts a button on a cord. "We can call the nurse..."

Finley Ellison has posed:
"That's the first time you've called me that," Finley says softly, her eyes going wide. She holds on to Ava a little tighter.

Ava Starr has posed:
Ava blinks, momentarily confused. What did she call her? "Love?" She closes her eyes a moment and holds onto Finley's hand with both hands. She exhales softly, gives a wry smile and opens her eyes to look at Finley. "Yes. Love. I wouldn't stay in a lab for this long for just anyone, you know."

Finley Ellison has posed:
"I mean, I didn't mean, I just...you've never said it before." Finley bites her lip. "Am...am I in a lab? Are we still on Hala? No wait..you said Simmons. She was here when I woke up. We're...we're back home. Sort of. Sorry. It's all. Hard to remember. Um...but..."

Ava Starr has posed:
"It's alright," Ava says softly. She exhales again -- a sound that reflects her concern more than any frustration. "But, yeah. We're... home. Or, at the Triskelion, anyway." She reaches out to stroke one of Finley's cheeks with the backs of two fingers. "I--I just... I didn't know where else to go." That wry smile returns, this time a mix of discomfort and accomplishment. "Turns out I can jump nearly instantaneously across space when the need arises." Who knew? "The pendant has readings still, I think."

Finley Ellison has posed:
"Told you you're a miracle," Finley murmurs. "And I'll want to see those later. When I can look at screens again without getting a headache." She leans forward to kiss Ava's hand. The one that's holding hers. "Ava?" she ask almost inaudibly.

Ava Starr has posed:
Ava can see that Finley is fading some. She's not surprised, but it doesn't change the fact she worries. "What is it, Fin?" She brushes some hair away from Finley's brow tenderly.

Finley Ellison has posed:
"Hold me?" Finley asks. "Please? Just for a little while?"

Ava Starr has posed:
Ava smiles at that. "Scootch over a little," she suggests. Then, she moves to curl up against Finley and wrap her arms around her, tucking Fin's head against her shoulder. "Better?"

Finley Ellison has posed:
Finley nestles into Ava's embrace. She doesn't say anything. She just nods.

Ava Starr has posed:
For the first time in what feels like forever, Ava actually feels her body relax -- not a lot, perhaps... but enough. She presses her lips against Finley's hair and smiles. "Rest, love," she tells her. "I'll be right here. Promise.""
