EOS Medal

The Extraordinary Operations Service Medal is a rare and prestigious award available to members of any US uniformed services for action during particularly unusual operations, primarily but not exclusively in the face of extra-terrestrial threats.

Originally issued by Executive Order in the aftermath of the Brood Invasion, and retroactively granted for actions during General Zod's invasion and the Alien Alliance Invasion, the Extraordinary Service Operations Medal is one granted with considerable restraint. It is not enough to have simply served during such actions, rather is is given out based on specific assignments to 'hot zones' or for actions directly related to such conflicts. A fraternal/sororal culture has slowly built up around those who wear it, often prompting exchanges on what otherworldly threat they had dealt with, or what disaster they helped divert.

The medal is bronze; the obverse shows a representation of Columbia, with a torch held high, with the words 'EXTRAORDINARY OPERATIONS SERVICE MEDAL' encircling the top. The reverse shows a picture of the globe seen from space, in a projection similar, but not exact of, the UN, the words 'FOR THE LIBERTY OF ALL' engraved, the first three words encircling the top, and the last two encircling the bottom.
