Hall seethed at his desk. Yes, he was technically on vacation now, but he'd be damned if they'd drive him off before he had the data and information he needed to continue. The data drive sitting on his desk was an unexpected bonus in that regard - recovered by the SHIELD agent who'd pulled him out. He frowned at the memory. It would have been better if it hadn't been dropped off with that Van-Dyne Pym girl at GIRL, but better than having it handed off to New Horizons. He doubted their investigators would understand his decision to max the power to try and force the wormwhole to finally link to its exit ring. This way, he had the data, and any unnecessary information was safely deleted from the drive. Likely the girl, for all her apparently brains, had just copied the data from the experiment anyway, it seemed to be all she was interested in.
His head came up as there was a knock at his door, as he quickly put the drive in a drawer and closed it. "What?!?" he says, a bit snappily.
With a click, the door opened, and his three assistants boldly filed in, suprising him. Todd leading the pack; of course he would. If anyone reminded Hall of his younger self, always ambitious and eager, it'd be Todd. Ada and her boyfriend Diego standing together didn't surprise him much; he'd not cared about that little relationship as long as it didn't interrupt his research.
"Todd, Ada, Diego...what did you need?" he said, mollified for the moment. That is, until Todd's next words.
"Franklin..." he began, deliberately leaving off more formal speech, which only annoyed Hall. "We're here to give you a choice. We know what you did at the experiment, that you took the power past the safety regs and caused the explosion." The younger man smirked a bit. "We know you've swiped some of our research and added it to your own too. So you're going to resign over this accident and leave this project in our hands. Or we're going to be very clear to New Horizon's investigators exactly who was responsible for blowing up their very expensive facility."
Hall gaped at the sheer fucking gall. Sure, he'd taken some of the results, but it's not like a nobody newly graduated doctor of physics was going to get anyone to care about their research! He'd done them a favor by letting them ride his coattails, and now this?!? For a moment, he could barely breathe out of sheer anger, even as Ada piped up. "You could have killed us Dr. Hall! Diego nearly got trapped by the fire, and they were picking glass out of my back for hours! It wasn't safe and you knew it!"
Hall burst to his feet. "You want to STEAL my project?!? I"m the one who came up with this design, the experiments, EVERYTHING and you think you can just-" he sputtered, before Todd cut him off. "We think you're going to leave. Or you get everything that's coming to you. Better hurry, because our interviews are coming up soon." He returned a thin smile. "Bye doc." With that,t he three quickly left, even as Hall slammed his fists on his desk, making an almost animal sound of mixed anger and frustration. How DARE they try to take it from him?!"
All around him, unnoticed, objects began to spin and float, before he took a deep shuddering breath, letting them fall again. Well. He'd see about that. Get what was coming to him, hmm?
