Personality

Caring:
Despite his issues with intimacy and his reclusive tendencies, Larry is a caring person who is concerned with the welfare of others- it so happens that most times, he believes that what is best for others is to have as little of him as possible in their lives, which means that his interactions are often coated with a sarcastic, matter-of-fact demeanor.

Reclusive:
As a result of his accident and subsequent life, Larry is often quiet and reclusive. His condition makes it physical intimacy impossible, and the traumas of his accident and of having lived a life of lies hiding his sexual orientation have left Larry with a fractured sense of identity. While he is close to the other members of the Doom Patrol in varying degrees over decades due to sharing their 'otherness', it is extremely difficult for an outsider to become emotionally close.

Scarred:
As a combat veteran, an accident survivor and someone whose life was torn from him, Larry bears not only physical scars, but psychological ones. He often has to struggle with an all-pervasive feeling of doom and lack of safety, and often has trouble sleeping. He is plagued by dreams in which he interacts with The Entity in situations that leave him feeling psychologically exposed, but is not certain whether they are actual interactions with the Entity or merely his own psyche. Outside of continuing to update his knowledge of engineering, he tends to avoid directly facing issues pertaining to his own life or anything that reminds him of it. He is aware that his sons might be alive, somewhere, or that he might have grandchildren, but he prefers to remain in his self-contained universe of the team and the mansion.

Self-Loathing:
Larry is burdened by regret and has a tendency to be depressive and defeatist. Still in denial about his sexuality and his identity, and he is often struggles with fear of change, preferring the familiar to the uncertain, even if it seems unbearable at times.

Powers

Energy Conversion:
The negative entity can absorb thermal energy and converted into explosive discharges.

Forever Young:
As a result of his condition, Larry doesn't age. He could conceivably live forever, but he is not invulnerable and may be killed, harmed, or maimed.

Mind Meld:
Keeg is also capable of, in an emergency, forming temporary psychic bonds between chosen individuals, connecting their minds, allowing for interaction even if one of the linked individuals has fallen into a coma.

Phasing:
The Entity is capable of passing through solid matter, with the exception of lead. Phasing through biological matter causes pain to the subject, but it is not lethal.

Possession, Technically:
The Negative Spirit is capable of possessing and take control of machines and devices- although this is in and of itself a risky maneuver, as there is a high probability that the machine will be overloaded by the Negative Spirit's energy.

Shadow Flight:
As a zero-mass being, the entity is capable of flight at the speed of light.

The Entity:
Originally, Larry believed that the Negative Entity was only an energetic emanation from his powers. Little by little the entity communicated with Larry through his dreams, revealing that its name was Keeg Bovo, a creature from a dimension called the Negative Space under the reign of N'Hal, The Negative Entity. The accident during which Bovo bonded with Trainor was due to the entity's curious nature, often exploring beyond the boundaries of its realm. Becoming trapped in a dimensional rift, only being liberated when Trainor crossed the rift in the midst of his test flight. Keeg's bonding with Larry was the only thing that allowed Trainor to survive the experience.

The entity is generated as a black, electrical energy being of an indeterminate substance. When projected, Larry's consciousness inhabits the being's body and leaves his body immobile and unconscious. The time limit during which Larry can leave his body as the entity varies depending on the stress of the situation (see weakness: Under Pressure.)

Skills

Air Force Training:
Having volunteered for the Air Force during the Korean War, Larry received the respective training and was directly involved in combat situations. He has not flown aircraft in over sixty years, but he still retains a strong familiarity with principles.

Test Pilot Traning:
Although his education was interrupted due to the war, Larry was able to complete and became a talented engineer. As a test pilot on America's most advanced experimental aircraft at the time, he acquired a solid grasp of quite advanced aerospace engineering and physics at the time. He has continued to update his knowledge over the decades as a means to fight his depression and maintain some semblance of connection to his past life.

Resources

The Doom Patrol:
The Doom Patrol is more than a team for Larry- because of his condition and his forced alienation, it has become the closest thing he has to a family that he still interacts with. He resides at 'The Mansion' for the majority of the time, with of his assets, modest as they are.

Weaknesses

Radiation:
As a result of his accident, Larry produces lethal radiation constantly. His entire body needs to be wrapped in especially-treated bandages in order to protect those around him at all times.

Sack of Potatoes:
When Larry releases the Entity from his body, his body is left behind as an empty husk in an apparent catatonic condition. For as long as the spirit is outside of his body, Larry is in an extremely vulnerable condition and may even be killed by enemy or hazard.

Under Pressure:
Larry and the Entity can spend can spend an indeterminate amount of time separated if they're in a safe and familiar location in close proximity, and neither of them is feeling stressed. However, in stressful situation Larry starts suffering physical effects within a minute and may even die if the Entity does not return to his body quickly.
