No Man's Land

In the wake of the tidal wave that hit the Eastern Seaboard following Emperor Zod's attack, Gotham was severed from the mainland. In a controversial decision, the U.S. Government declared Gotham unsalvageable and declared it to be "No Man's Land" - no longer a part of the United States and refusing aid to any who remain behind. The city's villains carved out pieces of the city as their own personal fiefdoms, while the mysterious Batman and those members of the GCPD who choose to remain struggled to maintain order.

After six months of lobbying in Washington D.C. by billionaire and Gotham native Bruce Wayne, the decision was rescinded and rebuilding commenced. Seeking to regain the shattered trust of Gotham's citizenry, federal funding was provided for the Hyperloop. This project links much of the Eastern United States using this cutting edge transport technology.
