"Hey!", as he is known among his people, is a "Space Corgi" -- some type of alien resembling a Welsch Corgi from the neck up, but embedded in a robotic, humanoid power suit. He has recentlyarrived on Earth and obtained the name 'Sushi' through a misunderstanding. His technological devices are rather advanced, but also extremely focused on his specific role as a roaming vigilante. No one is going to be learning the secrets of life or uncovering time travel technology from studying him. They may, however, get bitten.

Timeline

Timeline:
* Unknown Years Ago: A human scientist displaced in time when she was caught up in a dispute between alien abductors wound up on a remote planet with the wreckage of each group's ships and their contents. As a multi-disciplined researcher fromt he future, she cobbled together what she could find, built or 'salvaged' (out of dead bodies) robotic prosthetics to mend her injuries, and built a shelter while she attempted to contact her people. Eventually, she used the planet's mineral deposits and the primordial soup oozing around on it to manufacture a servant race from the DNA of her only companion, a corgi she was holding when she was transported aboard the abductors' ship. As both servants and companions, the Corginauts were customized as-needed for various tasks, becoming increasingly complex and intelligent as they were repeatedly "upgraded" to handle more knowledge-intensive tasks. Eventually, the scientist passed away without ever contacting Earth, or figuring out that she was in the past, where the technology to receive her transmissions didn't exist yet. The Corginauts continued their labor, their entire purpose and culture centered around further advancing the development of their world, being the best dogs they could be, and protecting humans/humanoids from harm.
* Many Years Later: The Corginauts are an advanced space-faring civilization, who have grown even beyond the knowledge of their maker. However, they reproduce through cloning and bio-generation vats, and they are suffering genetic degradation. The entire race is gradually dying, with their already-short canine lifespan becoming briefer and briefer.

Timeline2:
* 2019: A Corginaut, SU541, known to his friends as "Hey!", as every other Space Corgi is known (they weren't given names and don't use them, since they can identify each other by scent and sound) is grown in the cloning vats of what the Corginauts call, 'The Best Planet'. As a dog-adjacent life form, he matures much more quickly than the human who designed him, so starts learning basic skills like space navigation, quantum radio operations, and zero-gravity fetch to prime him for his future as a mighty space-exploring Corginaut.
* 2020: SU541 begins his future as a mighty space-exploring Corginaut after being fitted for his own personal power suit. Once he has completed his training, the now teenage-equivalent dog-person is assigned to the roaming division of patrollers who seek out trouble and deal with it however they see fit. SU541 distinguishes himself in battle against some scary space rocks that might have one day endangered someone or something maybe, and gets sent to join the Super Elite Guard Advanced for his service and definitely not because of all the wasted ammunition and broken asteroids that now litter local space.
* 2021 - SU541 gets lost on patrol--I MEAN HE IS EXPLORING NEW, UNCHARTED TERRITORY WHERE NO CORGINAUT HAS GONE BEFORE. He knows exactly where he's going. Definitely. He may or may not leave a trail of chaos and confusion in his wake, but DOES actually stop some bad people and bad things from happening, like space pirates, slavers, tyranical rulers, and lost/damaged space ships. He is also wanted for property damage and not all of the people he freed from an evil dictator are happy about it, especially if they benefitted from said dictator's regime.
* 2022: Okay, yeah, no, SU541 is now definitely lost. He meets Peter Quill, and immediately, aggressively decides to protect him, even if that means picking fights with all the aliens around him. Corginauts are not well-known, but where they are, they are considered an enormous headache for locals and visitors alike. SV541 is labelled 'Space Corgi', and receives the name Sushi due to only being able to settle down from his rampage when wrapped up in a blanket, giving him the appearance of a sushi roll. Sushi learns about Earth, and that there are other humans, and decides he must venture there to carry out his destiny of being The Best and also protecting humans.
* 2023: After a year of (coughbeinglostcough) exploring, the brave Sushi is now in the Sol System and gradually making his way towards the inner planets. One of them is kind of grayish and has a lot of crap floating in orbit around it, which he THINKS is Earth but looks kind of gassy and not much like dirt at all? Corginaut SU541 is especially intrigued by the broadcasts he is picking up in his suit's holographic CUD (Corgis Up Display), and wants to know more about this 'Lucy' and who exactly loves her. Most importantly, he seeks a pack or family of his own. His meeting with Star Lord and the absence of other 'Space Corgis' has left him very lonely and rudderless in a vast cosmos.

Personality

Determination:
Some might call it stubborness, but Sushi faces everything life throws at him with determination and an iron will. He may get angry, but he never gives up. If he doesn't understand something, he investigates it thoroughly. If he can't perform a skill, he dedicates himself to learning about it. He wants to find acceptance, and will gladly endure pain, injury, distrust, and hardship to find his place in whatever environment he winds up in.

Loyalty:
Sushi is absolutely ferocious to a frightening degree when it comes to defending those he cares about -- his family or 'pack'. Nothing short of death with dissuade him from protecting someone he has decided to protect. Thankfully, for less dire circumstances, he is merely extremely stubborn. He will not betray a friend or family member, will not reveal any secret even when coerced with drugs or torture, and is in general one of the most loyal good boys one could ever hope to have.

Engineered:
Sushi is genetically engineered to be far more intelligent than any mundane dog, can learn most spoken languages relatively quickly, is technologically-inclined with an aptitude for figuring out machinery through intuition, and can breathe in space thanks to what he calls 'Space Lungs'. Whether these are enhanced lungs, a separate set of lungs, or something else is unclear.

Skills

Ps Operation:
Sushi is, as a trained fighter of his people, very proficienct with his personalized Power Suit. In addition to simply being able to operate it properly, knowing the types of weapons and equipment embedded in it, and how to repair and maintain it, he is also familiar with its intricacies, the slight nuances that make it distinctly his, and can generally tell when something is wrong. Whether it's added weight, something not responding as quickly as it should, 'drag' in atmosphere, or whatever, he picks up on it quickly and usually has a good guess what the problem is with a cursory inspection. For all intents and purposes, Sushi's Power Suit is effectively an extension of his body. In some ways, it's more his body than his actual flesh and blood.

Space Familiarity:
Space Corgis are thoroughly familiar with a host of 'basic' skills related to every day outerspace operations. He can operate several types of well-known space ship control schemes, navigate via computer readouts or astrogation, operate common interstellar communications systems, conduct repairs in extravehicular conditions, engage in zero-gravity hand to hand or armed combat, and can identify various celestial phenomena (black holes, star and planetary types, nebulas, comets, etc.).

Resources

Dual Md Pistols:
Sushi carries a pair of mass-driver pistols that can fire electromagnetically-accelerated metal slugs. This high-tech weapon can curve the trajectory of the slugs so that they come down on an area like a rain of projectiles, as well as fire singly, simultaneously, in bursts, or in sprays. Depending on the settings, the pistols can fire non-lethally, carry a thermal charge that can start fires, be embedded with cryogenic gas, or be coated in a debilitating but non-lethal poison. Despite the curving effect, Sushi can not fire around corners or otherwise attack targets he can't see, nor are the slugs homing projectiles (they do not automatically adjust to hit a target, follow them, or make multiple attempts to hit. Either they land or they don't).

Force Screen:
Sushi can activate a short-lived force screen that reduces the severity of harm when an attack hits him, but cannot actually stop any attacks. It is ineffective against magic or psychic powers that have no physical form (ie. a curse or mind bolt, as opposed to a fireball or telekinetic projectile, etc.), and has a cooldown between uses. It remains in operation for about eight seconds and takes 45 seconds to recharge.

Power Suit:
Sushi's power suit has a jetpack capable of flight in atmosphere and in space. The robotic suit provides a minor degree of super strength and resilience compared to a human but many times the strength and toughness of a normal corgi. It can pop up a holography display with various information (radio transmissions, biometric data, computational navigation, interstellar communicator, and any records added to by Sushi during his exploration). A pair of arm-mounted blasters are recessed into the Power Suit and can pop up as needed to fire energy beams singly or in bursts. It has a life support system to extend Sushi's lifespan as much as medically possible and can help shield him from truth serum or resist mental interference by administering counter agents into his blood stream.

Weaknesses

Aggressive:
Sushi is, as many small dogs are, hyper-aggressive to make up for his anxiety and inferiority complex. He readily rushes into danger, accepts rigged challenges, and takes foolish risks simply to fight off any perceived notion that he is in some way not the best -- even if such a perception is just projection on his part. He always has to be the center of attention, and basks in any praise he receives, which can allow him to be manipulated by a clever individual.

Degeneration:
Sushi, like virtually all of the Space Corgi people, is slowly dying from a genetic sickness resulting from the repeated cloning used to propogate his species. Most Space Corgis don't last very long in the first place due to their own actions and aggressive behavior. Sushi relies on his power suit to remain functional and get anything done, and is in constant pain that interferes with decision making and does nothing to help his already explosive temper. He is unlikely to live beyond his fifth human year if he even makes it that far, unless measures are taken to improve his life support system somehow or find a cure. Sushi is not concerned about either, and accepts his fate, as all heroic Space Corgis do.
