Chthon is an active and malevolent presence, made all the more difficult to restrain by the immense power he dispenses to fanatical worshippers. He frequently attempts to draw mortal souls to him to increase his power, and his schemes often involve overthrowing his nephew Atum in an attempt to gain control over the Demiurge itself.
Chthon's essential essence was permanently trapped under Mount Wundagore by the Knights of the Round circa 1200 CE. This significant reduced Chthon's ability to actively influence events of the world and forces him to use emissaries and intermediaries to convey his powers and intent.
