A Millennia in Central Park
Date of Scene: 18 May 2024
Location: Central Park
Synopsis: Millennia and Patty have a date planned. They get to know each other a bit too!
Cast of Characters: Millennia, Patty Sloan

Millennia has posed:
Millennia is in the park like many of the downright ecclectic mix in the park - people of different races, accents, lifestyles and even mutants and humans side by side. Maybe a couple are on a date, one is walking their dog, is that..someone walking a cat? There's probably a rat or two running around. A thieving raccoon up in one of the trees. The melting pot that is New York Central.

Millennia is a vision of red. Waving hair tugged by the wind not so subtly. Wearing a red jacket over her outfit it's left open but whips around at the wind's will. She's flying a kite with moderate success, hand on the spindle of string with it wrapped around her wrist as a failsafe. It's a bit of a struggle to keep it up. Wildly to the left. Left...then whap! It's down. With a wince as it hits near someone "Ooof! Sorry!" She calls out, the redheaded woman rushing towards the downed Kite.

Patty Sloan has posed:
Patty has been cooped up at school for days. She of course has gotten out of the school to do her running and flying but still. Being cooped up is never fun. So she decided today she was going to escape Xavier's for a day in Central Park. She hopped into her car and drove the familiar road down to New York City. Things are quite busy in the city and traffic in the city is... well New York City traffic requires a lot of words that aren't fit for this pose. She quickly makes her way to the park and finds a parking space.

Once out she stretches her wings. "Ahhh its a beautiful day for a little flight." She flutters her dragonfly-esque wings and lifts off. The nice winds help pick her up. Thankfully she doesn't need to manipulate the winds too much today either. That is always a positive. She notes the flying Kite and quickly flies over to it before landing. "Good day for that isn't it!"

Millennia has posed:
Millennia gets a glare as she picks up the kite with a touch of blush in her cheeks. "S..sorry! Sorry!" Though the couple keeps walking with only a soft scowl.

Standing with the kite it doesn't take much for Patty to gain Millennia's attention. "It sure is, but the wind is a little strong. I guess you don't have that problem though? Your wings are very interesting and beautiful. I could see a kind of pattern or design in fabric based off it. I've seen butterfly wings used as inspiration before."

Stepping closer she pulls red from her face "I'm Millennia, I go by Milly. Any tips for a novice kite enthusiast today?"

Patty Sloan has posed:
"Oh! You do fashion? I do that a little too! I've always wanted to do Cosplay but I never got the chance. I had to hide my wings a lot. Now I don't care as much about them being out." She smiles and stretches her arms and her wings out as it was a lengthy drive.

Patty is currently wearing an Xavier's tee-shirt in grey with blue markings on it. She is wearing a pair of ripped up jeans and on her feet is her white and pink shoes. Its a comfortable get up at least. She smiles. "Nice to meet you Milly. I am Patricia Sloan, I go by Patty. Or by Sylph if you are such inclined." Then there is the comment about the kite. She laughs. "Well if it were me I'd probably cheat it. But you are right about the wind. The wind is a bit too strong to day. You wanna get the kite higher into the sky so that it holds it up." She blushes a little not saying how she'd cheat but it would be fun. "So what do you do? I'm in college. I kinda want to Join SHIELD someday."

Millennia has posed:
Millennia gives a nod of her head "Sort of. I'm a business admin at a local fashion office. I tend to travel between New York and Gotham. I help manage different designers, labels, and do admin work for them. Probably not anyone you've heard of, but the fashion world is all pretty interconnected."

"So do you prefer Patty or Slyph? I'd like to call you what your comfortable with. I've learned some things from the trade, being around designers and models. A stich here and there. If you ever want to try cosplay I'd be more than happy to help you out where I can. I'm not an expert but I'm told I have a talent. It's not what I went to school for though. I went for business management. I just went to a 2 year and graduated not too long ago. So no matter how tough it gets - you can make it through! And it'll be all worth it."

"SHIELD huh? That's a ambition! It's nice to see someone with goals. I just wanted to be able to live on my own. I suppose I've managed to meet that goal at least. I didn't have the grades for something like shield. I suppose they take the best of the best. What's your major?"

Peering upward she puts a hand up to shield her eyes from the sun. "Up higher huh? I'm not the best at getting it up there. The kite likes to fall a lot."

Patty Sloan has posed:
"Wow thats really cool! You got an awesome job fresh out of college like that! I was saving up money to go to college but things went south. I ended accidentally outting myself as a mutant in a most fun way. I kinda blasted my old school bully into DVD display at a Walco. Then I had to escape to New York City. The whole thing was a mess."

She smiles again, this time much brighter, "Oh Cool! I may take you up on that. I can always use help with cosplay stuff. I actually won a talent show recently where I displayed my work with costumes. It went really well. Did a trio of Operas and Operettas to draw people's attention. It was really fun."

She looks upward. "Well thats when cheating comes in handy. Throw your kite upward and I will take it from there." She winks playfully as she watches.

Millennia has posed:
Millennia looks a titch surprised "It wasn't always obvious? I just kind of assume with the wings... and I mean. Not everyone is out. I mean.. for instance I think your incredibly cute, but I'd be terrified to tell my grandparents that. Everyone kind of comes into their own eventually don't they? No matter when and what it is."

"Oh, well actually being a mutant isn't really a big deal in the fashion world. I mean I could probably introduce you to some of the low reputation talent I'm around. Really I help manage the up and comers to middle talents. Everyone's always open to ideas for the most part. At least on the designing teams. There are ego's out there."

"Okay. Here goes." Leaning down, she gives a great big push of the kite throwing up upward as she rises up again in a big show with both hands.

Patty Sloan has posed:
Patty smiles as the kite is thrown upward. Raising a hand some wind catches the kite and pulls it upward. "There you go." She laughs a little. "The wings are a side mutation in my case."

"For the longest time I kept my wings hidden. Belted down to my back so no one could see them. I also couldn't do much gym stuff in school. Plus I had to keep my other powers from activating or I would out myself. The day that happened, I had already been knocked to the ground and the old bully was trying to rob me."

She then smiles. "I could take you up on that. I definitely need some kind of job in the interim. Something I can do while I am still at school. I could model a bit. I could also do some design work if wanted."

Millennia has posed:
Millennia laughs as the wind catches the kite, and she uses both hands on the spindle to steady it as it rises up giving it some slack to go higher. "Well look at that. Thank you. You want a go with it?"

"It must've been uncomfortable keeping them strapped in like that. I know a little of what that's like. Keeping whom you are under wraps and repressed because your afraid what others might do. Saying or showing anything might just be worse than it is to pretend to be someone else other than yourself."

"Do you have any experience with fashion? I could probably set up a informal meet with some of the designers. They do like their cocktails and wine. It's not uncommon to have a night out from time to time, though they go on them more than I do. I can't promise anything in a job. But if you show talent I don't see why they wouldn't inquire further. Do you have a portfolio? That's often the first step. Ideas of what you would make in design, sketches, or as a model shots of yourself in different clothing and poses."

Patty Sloan has posed:
"I think I wanna stay on the ground for now. I am taking a little break from my normal workout routine today. Usually I am running halfway around a lake and flying the other half. Its a really challenge but its very worth it. I've built up a lot of endurance and now I can fly for more than a few minutes. So its a win-win!"

she pauses and then nods, "Yeah. It sucked a lot. Hiding my wings was a challenge plus it weakened me by a lot. Because when it became time to actually fly, I could barely keep myself in the air. My back muscles were really weak. They are stronger now but it still is taking time."

Patty smiles. "I don't have a portfolio yet. I can make one through with model poses and some of my work. Maybe the three outfits I did for the fashion show will be included. The first was the Phantom of the Opera, the second was from the Mikado. Then I did a barmaid outfit for Carmen." She grins. "I will get that stuff together for you if you'd like.

Millennia has posed:
Millennia gives a chuckle "I meant did you want to try to fly the kite, not fly the..uh. Fly the you." A look to Patty with a wink. Though she keeps an eye on the kite.

"So how did you begin learning? I suppose you didn't really have a choice huh? And well. Not to be pervy or anything, but if you know someone good with a camera - I think that most would love to take shots of you. You have a look and your body with the wings is something fantastical, different, unique, interesting. From fantasy to avant garde. It's got to be a photographers dream to photograph someone like you to frame something that doesn't come along every day. From filters, to paints, to colors. The right photographer could really make you some fantastic pictures. Imagine for instance your wings outlined in flourescents, with pictures taken under blacklight so they glow. There is so much that someone could do. Though I suppose if you want to be a model you want to accentuate your form rather than the wings - that is what they would be using to sell their product. But you have a pretty look, lithe, thin, the personality that bubbles through. You'd do well I think. Just don't fall into the hard party life. Some of the models fall way to that kind of thing. It can be a fast paced life. Only go out with people you know and trust and never take something given with someone's hand, especially if you've taken your eyes off of it for even a moment."

Patty Sloan has posed:
"OH!" She laughs a little. "I can if you like. I haven't flown a kite in forever." She extends her hand to take the string.

"I've never done any real modeling. I think I can talk to someone at school for pictures. I don't know if she does it but I think Jubilation is the type to take pictures." She pauses and imagines a little bit, thinking about how much they would accent her wings and her form. "That would be really cool. It would help me to make some money. I'm a broke college student after all. They help us out a little at the school but most of that goes to gas money. I can't exactly fly from Westchester down to New York City." SHe laughs a little bit. "Still I could definitely do my best. Lets see what happens!"

Millennia has posed:
Millennia unties the line from her wrist and hands over the spindle to Patty. "I don't know much about taking pictures beyond social media and selfies. I could ask someone, but you'd probably have to pay, even if it's discounted. So if you know someone that's good. You want someone that can bring out the..you. In you. You have a lot of personal warmth. Sometimes you want that to flow. Sometimes you want a distant look. A good photographer knows how to bring that out, the difference. I don't know how to do those."

"I know what it's like, I got scholarships and worked past my internship, thank goodness it was paid though. It's not easy being on your own. But you get used to it. If you become a model - just be aware people use that to try to hit on you. I've seen it. People have asked models out during after-work drinks in front of me. The designer jobs are very much behind the scenes, and they don't have to deal with that."

Patty Sloan has posed:
Patty takes hold of the spindle and lets the the kite out a bit more, letting it fly higher in the sky. "I will ask around the school. Someone is bound to be an aspiring photographer. I will get in contact with you if I don't find someone. Its going to be a challenge but it will be worth it.

She then smiles a little. "Well I got a surprise for more people that hit on me. I'm not straight!" She laughs. "Never been into guys too much." She laughs again as she tugs on the line to bring the kite back up farther. It twirls in response to her tug. "That will either make things better or worse I guess." She snickers. "Okay I think I can do this!" She smiles and just looks excited.

Millennia has posed:
Millennia laughs "Well okay then!" She blushes lowering her voice and runs her fingers through her red locks. "Well. Neither am I. Though..I'm a bit nervous to admit that too openly. It's complicated. So I just never dated. It kind of ended up better in a way for those around me. I do envy your ability to be so open about it."

"Though..I wouldn't count on not being straight to deter. Women can be relentless as well. But I think you have a good head on your shoulders and support system. I think you'll do fine. I suppose it's my job to make sure untoward situations don't come up for those I work with. Though I'm still learning many things myself. But if anything I think you would be a shoe-in to learn and absorb. I don't imagine this industry will lead you to SHIELD if that's where you truly want to be in the end though."

Patty Sloan has posed:
"The way I see it. I've already got a pretty obvious mutation. That is bigger than me being a lesbian. Besides, I can do more than flutter my wings at people." She smiles. "I didn't date either. I was too shy and I was bullied a lot in school. It torpedoed my self esteem. Being able to spread my wings, Metaphorically speaking, has been the most helpful thing for that.

As for SHIELD. I know someone in SHIELD who offered to help me get in. She actually was training me a bit too. She was teaching me some hand to hand combat. I also know how to shoot too so there is that. That was a fun lesson. Shooting a um training dummy in the groin my first shot I took." She blushes. "I made a few guys double over from that one."

Millennia has posed:
Millennia blinks "You know how to shoot guns? I've never even held one before. I took some self defense courses in high school though. There wasn't anything about hitting people in the groin though. But I guess if it's effective.."

Millennia looks around to make sure people aren't paying attention to them. "Well. There might be more then just being not-straight I've tried to hide." She holds up a finger and the tip starts on fire for a moment then flickers out.

"If your interested, maybe you'd like to get a coffee sometime and talk a little more? I'd say it's not a date, but I wouldn't mind if it were. I've never asked someone out before so I'm sorry if I'm not very good at it. But I'd like to get to know you a little more. You certainly have some traits I'd love to have myself someday."

Patty Sloan has posed:
Patty nods, "Yep. I've also been shot by a Sentinel before. Not one of the big ones. One that was human sized. The dumb thing waited till my back was to it and hit me with a laser." She shudders and rubs her shoulder for a moment. "Would not recommend that one. Not a fan of Sentinels. I was at a protest and there were a lot of mutants there. These things just pulled out guns and started shooting at random. I got about a dozen people out before I got hit."

She then smiles and watches as Millennia sets her finger on fire. "OH! You're a Mutant too!" She smiles happily. "That is a really cool power. Probably a lot more useful than mine in a pinch.

At the invitation to a date she gives a smile. "I would really like that. Hey who am I to judge a date invitation? I haven't asked anyone out either. I wouldn't know how to ask someone out either." She smiles. "I would like to get to know you more too." She blushes bright and smiles. "I think the same could be said of you. You have some traits I'd like to have in myself." She smiles.

Millennia has posed:
Millennia eyes widen "There's little ones now? I've seen the news with the big ones but I've never come across one." She holds a finger to her lips "Shhh, it's a secret. No one knows. I was hoping to maybe talk to whomever makes human torch's outfits because I tend to burn mine."

Millennia reaches into a pocket and offers her business card "I do hope we wont be shot at, but no guarantee. You know how the city is. You get robbed by food prices here."

"Well then. It's a date. I'll look forward to it. If you'd like to chat a little my email and facebook are on there too."

Patty Sloan has posed:
Patty nods, "I think they were prototypes but they were nasty. There were so many who got hurt it was a nightmare. I helped who I could but even that wasn't enough." She frowns.

Then there is the comment about burning clothes. "I understand. I don't have that problem. I just have to modify my clothing for my wings. Let me see who I can talk to at the school. We will see if we can get you something that doesn't burn." She frowns and thinks. "I think that stuff was all Dr. Richards. I should be able to find something out. Perhaps Dr. McCoy will have some insight.

Patty smiles and accepts the card. She smiles and nods, "We won't. If someone does, well I'll just make em regret it!" She winks playfully. "Its a date. I will send you an email a little later. For now I should go find something to eat. Been a while since I ate out." She smiles and winks to Milly. "Have a good day." She smiles and returns her kite. "Don't lose your kite." She smiles and flutters her wings and flies off.
