Class Reunion
Date of Scene: 29 May 2024
Location: Rise N Grind
Synopsis: Jenny comes to Marie-Ange in her time of need, Marie opens her doors and gives her oldest, best friend the grand tour.
Cast of Characters: Jennifer Stavros, Marie-Ange Colbert

Jennifer Stavros has posed:
It's mid-morning. The Rise and Grind has a fairly steady business going, mostly college kids settling down to study or write papers and some wannabe writer-types working on what they were sure was going to be their magnum opus. The door jangled and in walked Jen like she owned the place. She almost fit in with the 80s vibe, enough to blend in at least, and was aggressively chewing on something as she headed for the counter to get some coffee.

She needed coffee. This was not a conversation she wanted to have uncaffeinated. Hell, if she had the means to get blasted out of her mind rather than have this conversation, she would. But she'd done way too much of that as opposed to, you know, going to class and all and ESU had finally had enough. Now she was staring reality in the face and boy howdy, was it fuckin' ugly. Hence a text, an offer, and a stop at a bodega to get a little luck-induced cash. Popping enough luck to earn four digits worth of scratchers was draining, hence her need to recharge. But hey, at least she had a temporary fat stack.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
It had been just over a year since the last time Marie-Ange had heard from Jennifer. Unlike the last time they hadn't spent time together, she didn't fear for the blonde's safety. The people she was with looked... capable, at the very least, and at least one of them -- the infamous Harley Quinn -- knew her personally. If something had happened, she would have been told, at least.

"Find me when you can?"

"Um, I'll call you."

They were the last words the pair had spoken. Marie waited, and the call never came... until it finally did. So naturally, she dropped what she was doing, hailed a cab and made it as quickly as she could to meet her friend. She didn't even bother to do her morning reading like she normally would... over the years, she's learned that there are some things that she places above the cards. The list is short, but Jennifer and the important place that the blonde secured in her life is certainly on it.

So she's dressed for what she'd been doing before receiving the text, long red hair pulled back into a ponytail with a white scrunchy, a dark gray tank top and loose-fitting blue shorts... and as soon as she's through the door? Her eyes are searching. The drinks on offer are good... but Marie had priorities.

Jennifer Stavros has posed:
Jen had settled on one of the couches, claiming the entire thing as her own. She had the biggest mug that the place would sell her in her hands and was currently guzzling from it like she needed it to survive. Which, fair enough, she actually might have.

She's got her booted feet propped up rudely on a coffee table before the couch and the demolished remains of a couple slices of lemon pound cake littered a small dish next to her ankles. While it didn't look like it, she was keeping an eye out for Marie and as soon as she arrived she hoisted her coffee cup by way of a salute. She did not, however, have a drink or anything waiting for her.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
As soon as Marie catches sight of the blonde and her salute, delicate feet were in motion once again. She still moved with the sort of effortless grace she always had, but strode with determination, as well. She was on a mission, and frankly? The mission didn't involve drinks. Yes, her face brightened at the sight of the other woman -- a good sign, though the redhead was usually pretty easy to make happy -- but she doesn't immediately go for the hug like she did during their previous meeting. Jenny held all the cards; she always did in their relationship. Marie would allow her to set the tone.

Plus, she didn't want to spill said coffee all over both of them. That is not how you repair a friendship!

"Jennifer!" she chirps out; tone pleasant but restraining herself. Use of the blonde's full name wasn't uncommon coming from Ms. Prim and Proper, and the fact that it's Jennifer, not Mademoiselle Jennifer or the dreaded 'Madame Stavros', is another good sign that would certainly be picked up on. "You wished to see me, oui? How have you been...?"

Jennifer Stavros has posed:
First things first. Jen put her coffee down, removed her booted feet from the coffee table, then stood up to launch herself into a hug for her estranged friend. "Mademoiselle Colbert!" she said, kissing each of her cheeks in the French fashion. "I'm so sorry it's taken so long to reach out to you, especially like this." he said in passable Lyons-accented French. "Won't you sit down? Let me get you a tea and then we can talk." she continued, also in not-half-bad French.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
As Jen threw her arms around Marie, she could probably /feel/ the relief flowing through the French girl. She /knew/ that she and her ever-BFF were as different as night and day in a lot of ways. Jennifer was the Queen of Beasts, Marie was happy -- and fortunate -- to walk in her pride. Those very French kisses are returned in kind, and when she /does/ pull away her expression is considerably brighter. She's not holding back, now.

"Are you sure? I could..." she replies in her own flawless French, before taking the seat as requested. A request from Jennifer was as good as a demand from anyone else, and she didn't take it ill at all. She'll continue once her friend's returned, "...do not worry, I know you have been busy with all of your... " her hands flail around a bit as she tries to find the word, this time in her native tongue. "...well, life. We are not in High School anymore, right?" Though, she certainly misses those days.

Jennifer Stavros has posed:
Jen blew Marie a kiss as she turned to go get her a tea. And maybe a croissant, because flaming stereotypes were fun and watching Marie twitch was always entertaining. The lines were reasonable and it didn't take long for Jen to get Marie a giant mug of tea - and herself another coffee - along with said warmed croissant with butter. She headed back to the couch and put the drinks and the croissant down on the coffee table. "Enjoy!" she said with a smirk, and then sprawled herself on the couch next to Marie.

Next up, some caffeinated non-alcoholic (sadly) liquid courage. She chugged from her original coffee and only came up for air when the cup was empty. Then she turned her head away for as ladylike a burp as she could manage, then turned back to her friend. This ... was gonna suck.

"I'm in trouble." she said, and then could have kicked herself for starting off in such a melodramatic way. "I mean, I'm not in physical trouble or anything, I don't think anyone's trying to kill me or anything..." she said, flustered because she was doing such a _bad_ job of asking her friend to help her.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
"Thank you very much!" Marie replies graciously as she's brought both tea /and/ croissant. Stereotype or not, the slender -- no longer expressly frail -- woman likes food, and pastries more than most other options. It doesn't take long for her to take that first dainy bite, accompanied by a soft 'mm' of happiness.

Then when Jennifer starts to speak? Marie gives the blonde her full, undivided attention. Hands in her lap, treats on the table. Green eyes watching intently. She rides the rollercoaster of emotion that one would expect confronted by someone she cares about so much; Marie's always worn her heart on her sleeve. She tenses at the word 'trouble', relaxes when it's explained not to be physical and probably not murderous... and then decides to give a lifeline to her friend.

She reaches out to try and take one of the blonde's hands in hers, while another pale hand reaches out for Jennifer's cheek. Trying to calm her. "Jennie. You know you can ask me for anything at all. How can I help?"

In that moment, all the hurt of the past, intentional or not, is forgiven. Marie's always done that. Jennifer could have set her on fire and Marie would have immediately forgiven her. It's just who she is.

Jennifer Stavros has posed:
Jen almost lost it. The acceptance, especially after so long being no-contact, was almost painful in its intensity. "Thanks, babe, but let me get the whole story out before you make me any offers." she said, coloring a fair bit. Then she took a deep breath to steady her nerves.

"Right. So. I've been a real shit and I didn't keep in touch with you because, well, I fell in with some really bad people. People that just wanted to use me for my luck." she said, mentally damning Waller into the depths of any Hell that would take her. "And OK, I'm a big girl, I can handle my business." she said with another heavy swallow. "But I kinda fucked my life up, Marie." she said sadly. "I didn't take care of my business like I should have and now I'm kinda failed out of ESU." she said. "And that brings me to you."

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
Marie is unwavering; the bond they'd forged as teenagers is still clear and present as she listens. Her expression fading a little here and there in a show of concern for the other girl, but she doesn't speak. Letting her friend get everything out, and playing the sounding board for Jennie in the same way that had been done for her in the past. Despite often being the quiet girl in social interactions, around certain people Marie /loved/ to talk. Here and now, though, she forced herself to offer a soft, "Yes?"

In her head, she's already trying to figure out solutions to every problem Jennifer mentioned, because... well, that's just who she is. Marie wouldn't have survived without Jennifer, and will do everything within her ability to ensure Jennifer continues to survive.

Jennifer Stavros has posed:
"So, upshot of this sad story of fuckedupitude is that I kinda need a place to stay. I can pay you - in luck or in cash, whatever you want - just until I can unfuck my life, stay away from the Squad, and not have to get my tits out and wear something slutty for the Club, yanno?" she said with a wrinkle of her face. Not that she had any real objections to getting her tits out and wearing something slutty, it was the _expectation_ that galled her.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
"Done." Marie doesn't even think about it. Doesn't pause to run it by the other person living at her place, because she knows Mary well enough that the brunette wouldn't object in the same way that she wouldn't object if Billy, Freddy, Pedro, Eugene or Darla needed a place to crash when they were down on their luck. They had a proper guest room for a /reason,/ and it would be used.

After that word is out to relieve any fears that the redhead might say no, she leans forward to pull Jenny into another hug if allowed. "You require a place to stay, you will have it for as long as you need or want it. You need not pay me; save your money and strength for..." she pauses, pursing her lips for a moment as if saying the word is physically painful for her.

It's pretty close.

"Unfucking your life, yes? If you wish to give me anything..." she trails off for a moment, her voice shaking just a bit. "...just... be my friend again? Only if you wish to, of course, do not feel truly pressured." she adds quickly, closing her eyes. "I have missed you, Jennifer."

Jennifer Stavros has posed:
And that's when the waterworks began. Jennifer teared up, leaning in gratefully for the hug. "You're the best." she told Marie, then finally pulled away. "But I don't want to be a burden. Let me give you a little something for the trouble at least..." she almost-pleaded. Jennifer had her pride, after all, and she hated the thought of being a leech. "But hey. We were besties and we can be besties again. I just gotta clean up my act, be worthy of it." she said, and then reached for her fresh coffee to guzzle from it as well. "Well, shit." she mused to herself. "It's so good to see you again. I'm an asshole." she said, wiping at her eyes before she had horrendous makeup tracks down her cheeks.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
Tears are contagious. They really are. Because when Jennie starts crying, Marie joins in, just... happy to have her friend back. To be /allowed/ to help. The blonde does have her pride and that's very likely a reason she never got a call /earlier,/ so she's not going to object, either. "If you wish. Mary will certainly appreciate if you would be willing to help around the house as well... but you know I would never force, well, anything upon you." she confides, smiling as she too reaches for her drink, taking a gentle sip from the cup. "Would you care to ttake these to go and see where you will be staying for the foreseeable future?" There's a wink that puncuates the end of that sentence. They both know from experience that seeing Jennifer's future is... complicated at best. It's why Marie doesn't try except in the most dire of circumstances.

Jennifer Stavros has posed:
"How is Mary, anyway?" Jen said as she resumed her sprawl on the couch, now clearly much more comfortable than she had been previous. "You two still..." she said, and then made a scissoring gesture with both hands with a wicked grin on her face. "If so, congrats! I have no idea what that'd be like ... I mean the longevity. You want me to do the other thing, you're gonna need to get me really drunk first." she teased.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
"She is very well!" Marie's happy to gush about her girlfriend. "She has traded her former occupations," Barista and reporter, "in for work as a... video game streamer? It makes her happy, which is what matters most to me." she replies, smiling brightly, "And oui! Ah... we had drifted apart for some time when the Hermit demanded solitude..." she's a bit embarassed about that. "...and her, ah, responsibilities kept her busy, but found one another once again and opted to... well, force fate's hand in the matter." She's a little afraid about the reprecussions of doing so, but -- in a very unMarielike way -- willing to face whatever they may be. As for the other part? It takes her a minute to realize that Jenny wasn't just implying them being together and... her face turns the color of her hair. "I would never ask you to I respect our friendship far too much and I have Mary and..." and she babbles incoherently for a few moments. Even having worked for the Club for some time, she can still be easy to fluster when you push the right buttons.

Jennifer Stavros has posed:
Jen laughed delightedly then took another swig of her coffee. "Still the same ol' Marie." she said with a fond look. "But seriously, I'm happy for you. You seem to have found someone serious. I'm a little jealous." she said. Not that she'd ever take a pass at Marie ... but then her imagination drifted off to an enticing scenario of a lot of alcohol, maybe some other party favors, and then body shots. Off the two of them.

Jen blinked hard to wash that image out of her brain. "Finish up your tea and croissant. I went through a lot of troble to cater to Your Frenchiness." she said with another laugh. Like it was so difficult to walk up to the counter and place an order. And thanks to her luck, at least for the time being she was a little flush on cash. "Then you can dazzle me with my new accomodations." she said. She was expecting a closet or a tiny guest room.

She had no idea what she was in for.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
"Perhaps in some ways," Marie admits with a soft giggle, happily revelling in the attention. Again, something she accepts from a select few people. The ones she's accepted as found family. That list... is not entirely exclusive. "I have, and I have sworn off trying to... peek further ahead in the book when it comes to her," she admits, marking a second person that she won't read for except under dire circumstances. "...and you will find someone, too. It will just take the universe some time to find someone worthy of you." Marie, for her part, says this seriously. As she's always done in the past, she's willfully blind to Jennifer's shortcomings.

At the suggestion, though, she nods and stuffs the last -- which probably should have been two -- bite of croissant into her mouth, chews, swallows, and picks up her cup of tea with both hands. "I can finish this in the car." she confides, moving now to stand and waiting for Jennifer to do the same before heading towards the exit.

In her head, she couldn't /help/ but smile just a little wider. The last time Jennifer had really taken the time to know her, they lived together in a decent little two bedroom apartment. The penthouse? That was a major upgrade, and she couldn't wait to share it with her best friend.

Jennifer Stavros has posed:
Jen chugged the last of her coffee and then turned away for another discreet-ish belch. "OK!" she said, unsprawling and climbing to her feet. "Let's go check this place out." she said with a smile as she extended a hand to her friend to help her to her feet. If she was so inclined.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
Marie was more than happy to; shifting her cup into a single hand to take Jennifer's and help her up. "Tres bien! I cannot wait for you to see it." the redhead replies excitedly, leading the way towards the exit and taking little sips from her cup as she walked. She didn't need liquid courage... but she knows herself and is well aware she might need the energy it has to offer her.

Jennifer Stavros has posed:
Jen followed her friend out of the coffeeshop, smiling and feeling like there might just be a silver liming to the collection of clouds that had descended on her. "Hey, wait a second." she said as she sped up to keep stride with her longer-legged friend. "You've stopped hitting the cards every ten minutes? Whoa. I'm impressed." she said, fishing in her pocket for a piece of gum to chew.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
"Oui?" Marie asks as Jennie calls out to her, looking over her shoulder with a confused expression... that very quickly turns sheepish. "Oh, oui... Jennie... a wise woman once told me that sometimes it is better to live life and... enjoy the ride. I have them, of course, but I try to limit consulting them for more crucial decisions." ...and the ones that she's not willing to budge on. Making sure her BFF gets a soft landing out of trouble? Fate can come at her for that one.

It's not like she would've gotten a good reading on /that/ question anyways!

The cab ride is obtained quickly; two pretty young women rarely have trouble hailing one. The address given might surprise Jennifer, since the buildings there are considerably larger than the kinds that they're used to staying in since living the Institute in Westchester... and the one they eventually pull up to is no different. Marie gets out first, "Come, your new home awaits!" she tells Jennifer excitedly, holding out a hand to help her out of the cab before walking towards the front door.

"Ms. Colbert, welcome back!" greets the doorman, pulling open the door for the pair.

"Merci Beaucoup, Monsieur Frank. This is Mademoiselle Stavros, she will be staying with me now, please ensure she is added to the appropriate lists, oui?" Marie replies with the kindness that she shows... well, pretty much everyone in Jennie's experience.

"Of course, Ms. Colbert. Welcome, Ms. Stavros!"

Jennifer Stavros has posed:
Jen just ... boggles. Her bestie had definitely gone _up_ in the world to afford some swank digs like this! Millions, easy. "Hoeleeey shit." she said, looking at the penthouse. "Whose dick did you suck to get _this_?" she asked in amazement. "Or have you finally been able to glimpse the future of the stock market before you place your bets?" she asked, still utterly boggled by the opulence.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
Millions, definitely. Once they're inside, Marie goes red once again at the insinuations of what she did to get into her new home. "Non! Nobody, and I would not!" Which of the two she wouldn't do is left up to the wind to decide. The opulence of the penthouse apartment speaks for itself; plenty of closed doors, beautiful furniture everywhere. "You remember Madame Frost?" Marie asks, inclining her head slightly. "When Mary and I were looking for a place to move in together, I thought to ask her for suggestions since she has connections in real estate, oui?" she explains, taking a breath. "She did not want us living so far away in New Jersey... and insisted on finding us a place in the city." A pause, and a slightly impish smile crosses her features. "This was one of the smaller options, but we liked the view... and the rooftop."

Jennifer Stavros has posed:
"HEY! What's wrong with Jersey?" said the Atlantic City girl. "But damn. Frost _hooked you up_. Any catches I need to know about?" she said, still trying to take it all in. This was gonna be _sweet_!

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
"She said it was too far. Mary and I would have been fine with it... but I cannot deny that the proximity is convienient for work and school alike." Marie replies, offering a smile. "I cannot think of any... catch. Perhaps ask Mary when she gets home?" Marie suggests, before considering for a moemnt and pointing towards one of the closed doors, one of two that has a lightbulb outside the door. "...except perhaps to not disturb that room when the light is on unless invited. That is Mary's office, and she is recording when the light is on." she offers seriously, before flashing a bright smile. "Would you care for the whole tour, or would you rather explore on your own?"

Jennifer Stavros has posed:
Jen was still way out of her comfort zone, so she smiled at her friend. "I'll take the full tour." she said, making a note of Mary's broadcasting room. "Jersey's awesome." she said in defense of her home state. "Well, south Jersey anyway. Northern Jersey may as well be fuckin' New York, yanno?" she said, vigorously chewing her gum once again. Still, Frost just giving a multi-million dollar property to a couple of teenagers sat really hinky with her. She was sure something was up and maybe she'd luck into the answer.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
"Tres bien!" Marie chirps happily, giving her friend a quick hug before motioning, "This is the living room of course, the TV remote and the remote for the shades are kept..." she pauses, moving over to lift one arm of the sofa to expose a little hidey-hole, and cupholders. "...in here. We usually keep the fireplace lit in the Winter, though any time it gets cold enough is a fair reason to get it started..." Marie trails off for a moment, taking the time to kick off her flats so that she can pad barefoot through the place. "The object in the corner that looks kind of like a coat rack is for training," A pause and she adds with a little grin. "A gift from the King of Wakanda himself."

Yes, she's moving up in the world.

"The kitchen is through here..." she steps around the dining counter that seperates the two rooms and motions. "Our kitchen is pretty similar to the one at the school... fridge, dishwasher, oven... the only addition being..." she reaches down to pat a little wine fridge loaded with a variety of alcohol. "...we do not hide our booze in Monsieur Logan's room, oui?" she teases with a little giggle.

Jennifer Stavros has posed:
Jen was following along, still pretty much stunned. "Wait. The _King_ of _Wakanda_?" she boggled. This was gonna be way too rich for her blood - but it was Marie, and she trusted Marie implicitly. Still, the woman was more than a weak-willed and would take orders from Emma easily. Something about this setup _stank_.

Still, it beat homelessness or being luck-bitch for the Suicide Squad or shaking her tits and ass for Hellfire.

As options went, this was the best of her choices. She'd probably get over her intense feeling of not belonging eventually, right?

Right?

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
"Oui." Marie replies, as if it's the most perfectly normal thing in the world... before realization hits her and her eyes widen suddenly. "Oh! He prefers to be called T'Challa." she corrects, because that was clearly what was going on. Though, she does continue to explain, "...he has taken me on as a student and is helping build my ability to defend myself beyond what I learned at Xavier's."

Moving along, she starts to make for the various closed doors, opening them in turn. The first is Mary's studio, showcasing a rather professional looking setup with various gaming systems and computers and cameras to be able to do her job. The second is the other room with a lightbulb, which Marie reveals is her recording room -- where an impressive number of instruments await inside a sound-proofed room. Which Marie /specifically/ points out given that their tastes in music tend to clash.

"Then /this/ is mine and Mary's room," She opts not to open the door for reasons she's pretty sure Jennie can guess. Finally, the next room she opens up is a decently decorated guest room. Big bed, fancy sheets, photos adourning the walls -- many of them being people that Jen would recognize, including herself in a number of them. Marie was always fond of physical memories, and she held onto them with a death grip. "...and this is where you will be staying. That door is your bathroom, then the other one is the closet..."

Jennifer Stavros has posed:
Jen officially had lost any sense of rationality at this point. She was overwhelmed, not coping with the changes in her friend's life. So, impulsively, she got a running start and launched herself onto the bed with a discreet white disc to the bed to make sure she didn't, yanno break it or anything. "WHEEE!" she explained right before she landed on the bed with a bouncy _thud_. Then she sprawled herself out on it like a pinup girl, glancing over to Marie. "I'm sorry, I'm just a little - OK, a lot - overwhelmed. I was expecting, yanno, a dorm room style deal. Not this." she said, then bounced her way out of the bed as well, having thoroughly messed up the previously-neat sheets.

"You're not shitting me, right? This is seriously gonna be mine?" she asked as she looked at this pictures. Ugh, she looked like a skinny little drowned rat in some of these.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
Marie can't help but let out a giggle as Jennie properly attacks the bed. Clapping her hands as she enjoys, well, the sudden burst of mirth from the blonde. It's good to see her properly looking like /herself/. again. There's hope, and she's not just deluding herself!

With a soft giggle, she speaks again. "It... is a rather wonderful place. Fate dealt me a good hand for following her orders so closely for so many years, and it is my priviledge that I get to share it with you." she tells her friend, smiling wide. "No... shit. For as long as you need it."

Then, a sudden lightbulb goes off in her head. "...and there is one more thing! Oh, you will /love/ this."

Jennifer Stavros has posed:
"Does it have an eight-inch penis and eight digits in its bank account?" Jen asked mischeviously as she gathered herself to follow her friend to this new surprise. "Because the gift of a large penis never goes amiss." she said with a near dead-on impression of Emma.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
No surprise, Marie's once again left reddened... but also bursting into laughter because she /knows/ that voice and she can place it very easily. After taking a moment to compose herself she adds, "Another extra bathroom... Mary and I have one inside our bedroom as well," So, no need to worry about /that./ Then, she pulls open a final door that leads to a small stairwell, leading up. Up the stairs she goes, the door is opened at the top which shows off a rooftop garden... but perhaps the most eye-catching piece upon the roof? Is the open-air hot tub. To which Marie does jazz hands in the direction of with a, "Ta-da!"

Jennifer Stavros has posed:
Jen followed her friend up, but when the hot-tub was revealed Jen made a noise only audible by dogs and Wolverine. "OH MY GOD!" she said, running over to the tub. "Is this for _real_?" she asked. "Do you guys, uhh, wear suits in your hot tub?" she asked with a very mischievous look on her face. "This is so amazing! Thank you so much!" she squealed.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
"For real. Our apartment is the only one with access to the room, which is good for when Mary or I need to fly somewhere in a hurry..." Because with both of them being flight capable, Privacy Matters. As for the other question? There's a laugh, a look off to the side, and a soft "Sometimes." offered in response. "The view is especially beautiful at night... you can see all the lights of the city from up above and, well." There's a soft, happy sigh here. "Even in the heart of the city, it can be peaceful."

Jennifer Stavros has posed:
Jen was not the seeking-the-peaceful type. In fact, she tended to thrive on chaos. "You _go_, girl!" she said obnoxiously, then almost bounced in place. "Hey, I need to get my stuff from my ESU dorm, kay?" she said. "Soooo ... how's that gonna work? You got any strapping young lads that can schlep my stuff?" she asked with a wink.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
The differences between them were clear. Yet, somehow it all balanced out between them. Jennie's encouragement draws another blush and a laugh. "Ah... thank you." she giggles, before moving the subject along. "Mary has brothers who I can ask. Not to mention the boys from the school... Sam, Roberto, you remember everyone, oui? If /needed/ I could hire movers.... or we could do things ourselves, too."

Jennifer Stavros has posed:
"Was kinda hoping to not have to move myself." she admitted. "But hey. If I need to, I need to." she admitted. "Don't have a ton. Clothes, mostly. Shoes. Laptop, couple of other small things." she said. She was not tremendously sentimental, carrying her memories in her heart, not on her walls.

Almost exactly not like Marie.

"Hey, think you could animate us some helpers to schlep?" she asked brightly. "We'll pack, they carry?"

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
"Well." Marie admits, biting her lower lip for a moment... and then flashing a mischievious smile of her own. A hand dips into one of her pockets, pulling out a little velvet bag that's probably all-too-familiar to Jennie, before her fingers sort through blindly and she withdraws one: the Ten of Pentacles.

Within moments, ten discs move and dance around Marie like something out of a Disney movie... even allowing the redhead to use them as a moving staircase to 'walk' along the air itself. "...do you think your things weigh more than I do? Because if not..."

Jennifer Stavros has posed:
Jen grinned. "I seriously doubt it. Don't need my school crap anymore so I should be packing pretty light. Because I'm soooo sentimental and I love collecting little bits and bobs from everywhere I've been." she said teasingly. "And if things do manage to run heavy, well, we'll get lucky and they'll handle it." she said with a smirk.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
Marie lets out a laugh, at first. Then she pauses... and moves to go and give Jen another hug. Just to prove to herself that this is really happening. "It was the next best thing I could have to the real thing. We both knew we would leave the school one day," she didn't know she'd be going back for college but... "...and I did not want to forget the people who have meant so much to me during my time in America. Even if I no longer see most of their faces daily. And I only collect images of the people I /wish/ to remember."

As for the latter? She shakes off the seriousness, and flashes a grin of her own. "When do you have to be out by? I will plan my schedule accordingly."

Jennifer Stavros has posed:
Jen gulped. "Friday." she said. "Hey, but like I said. Shouldn't take too long. And I got lucky today, I can handle a spacious enough Uber to carry my crap from there to here. Or, yanno, we can forget all about my old crap and go on a massive shopping spree for all new stuff?" she asked teasingly. "Might even get you little tiny number for you to drive your girl wild in."

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
"Tomorrow we go, then. Today you rest, oui? From what it sounded like... you could most certainly use some." Then a giggle, "We can go shopping after we recover the things you wish to keep, if you like... while our home is... extravagant, we are not /wealthy/... just beneficiaries of not having to pay rent." Because Emma bought the entire building. "And..." she coughs, blushes, and clears her throat. "We shall see." Which is Marie-speak for, Jennie will get her way, but Marie will whine cutely the entire time.

Jennifer Stavros has posed:
Jen knew Marie-speak from the days of olde and she was oddly grateful that it hadn't changed. She'd get the Frenchwoman into something tiny that barely hid anything and would probably drive her girl mad with lust in no time at all. Jenny recognized that Marie would do anything she asked, which was a chunk of the reason she'd stayed away. Marie needed to develop as her own person, stop listening to weirdos from her Tarot deck that demanded that she withdraw from the world.

But hey, sometimes things just worked out. "Yanno, I am kinda hungry." she said, putting her hand over her stomach. "Wanna grab a bite, then we can catch up more." she offered. "Whaddya say?"

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
Marie? Marie's not going to object in the slightest. Besides, while she did have a croissant... she /did/ eat it after a training session, which certainly left her with room for more and then some. "It sounds like a good plan to me. Would you like something from here, or would you prefer to go out?"

Jennifer Stavros has posed:
"Fancy place like this has gotta have tons of junk food and crap that's bad for us." she pointed out sensibly. "Let's gooooo!" she said, bounced, and darted back to the stairwell leading downstairs.
