- Miles Morales has posed:
It's become pretty established that Cassandra and Miles have come up with some weird ideas for quality time. Usually it's either ending up teaming up to fight something together. Grabbing a bite to eat at Hot Dumplings or on a broody rooftop, or the most common - training. The warehouse falls into the latter of the three.
"You know, I could help you study. That'd be a lot safer for me." Miles points out as he stretches out, his mask pulled up over his mouth, as he stretches out in his suit and checks his web cartridges. When he does, his lips pull into a thin line and he makes a non-commital noise. "You got a way to contact Batgirl?" he asks curiously. "She provided me with a new formula for the weblines that's more efficent and stealthy, and I haven't cracked the code on it yet. Was hoping to catch her for a chat on it."
"Anywho!" One last jump to make sure everything is where it's supposed to be, and a rolling shrug of his shoulders. "What's the plan?"
- Cassandra Cain has posed:
"I do," Cass answers as she moves inwards, adjusting her own cape a little and then stretching her arms up over her head. "I'll send her a message when we're done." Cass' gaze moves to him as he suggests helping her study, but well...even she was occasionally a little embarassed by her low levels of literacy.
No comment given, she instead steps to slip into a relaxed ready stance.
"I need to practice fighting people who move differently. Who evade rather than attack, or attack from different angles. And you can practice against someone who relies on skill and speed rather than brute strength or technology."
A beat, she shrugs. "We are going to fight."
- Miles Morales has posed:
"To catch a spider it is!" Miles chirps as the mask comes down and the Spider-Man persona - which isn't terribly different from Miles kicks in. "So if I manage to avoid you, what do I get?" he asks. "Maybe something social... like together?" Might as well shoot his shot while he has the chance. "Also, thanks for the lifeline to her. 'pprecie!"
And with that, he fires a line straight up. "Toodles!" The line pulls taunt and he flies up into the rafters and catwalks. "All I have to do is avoid you, right?" he asks, just to clarify what the rules of this little session are.
- Cassandra Cain has posed:
"Something social," she repeats, but there's a nod at agreement as she fastens her own mask up to him. The question asked? Well, it made it pretty clear when the answer was something hurled towards him, small projectiles that suddenly exploded into a thick layer of smoke immediately removing the option of sight.
Thankfully the spider-sense did give him another option as several batarangs sliced through the darkness and hurtled towards him.
Cass was moving, but she was doing her best to make it unclear where she was coming from.
- Miles Morales has posed:
When she throws the smoke bombs, it's a trigger that goes off in Miles' brain. Suddenly the spider-sense kicks in. As the batarangs come in, he ragdolls, dodging where he can, and using his webline to deflect others. "Ask a girl out on a date and get the worst response ever!" he teases as the black and red suit is noticable for a moment as Cass starts moving as well.
A series of baseballs made of web are shot in her direction, three of them meant to keep her moving and to keep her from finding a track on him.
And since she wants to play hide in the smoke - a moment later, the webbing stops...
... and Spider-Man vanishes into the darkness, going invisible.
- Cassandra Cain has posed:
Banter was very much the brand of the Spider, taunting, talking, baiting as they fight. The Bat? Not so much...of course, some of them like Nightwing, Spoiler, even Red Hood...but not the man himself, and not Cassandra Cain either it seems.
Rushing movement, motion, and all of a sudden his Spider-sense would be screaming at him to avoid a swinging, sweeping strike of her leg, sharp (though not as brutal as he'd seen her be) strikes lash out at him.
He was invisible...but it seemed she knew that trick. The smoke hadn't been just to hide her, it was to reveal him with how it moved and distorted.
Orphan was a hell of a student of the Bat it seems.
- Miles Morales has posed:
It only takes a few moments for Miles to figure out the flaw in his plan and the whole reason that Cass popped smoke to start the fight. As the smoke wafts and drifts around him, he was trying really hard to be quiet - and be one with the catwalk. That is thrown to the side when there's a sudden rush of warning, and he barely gets his leg up and out of the way as he becomes visible and falls off the side of the catwalk and towards the ground. "Never told me you were a leg girl!" he calls out to Cass as he fires a webline, but as he swings back up?
He releases the line to grab a hold of the edge of the metal plating to send a venom blast of electricity through it towards the Bat. "Careful, I sting!" he points out as he unleashes the attack. One that leaves him vulnerable for a few hints of a second as he recovers from it.
- Cassandra Cain has posed:
The surge sparks up through the catwalk, voltage flowing actually causing Cass to tense up as it passed through the metal...but she didn't twitch, didn't stiffen up and fall or really seem all that pained.
More tricks? Almost certainly...insulation in the suit, especially in the boots. After all, her own gloves had the inbuilt tazers he'd seen before. Last thing that Bruce wanted is for his wards to fry themselves.
She moves now, her own grapnel line almost a parody of his web as she dives past him...then the line goes tight and flings her towards him where she twists, wrapping her arms and thighs around him from behind if she can snare him.
- Miles Morales has posed:
"Oh come on, did you really do all this for l'il ole me?" Miles asks when Cass just seems to shrug off the venom blast. Okay. Time to regroup and find a new way to approach the problem.
If only he had time to consider what that plan would be.
As easy as drawing in drawing in a breath, he recenters and recoups from the electrical burst. It's too late.
A lot of guys would probably like being pulled into a hug from behind by the girl they like.
Except Cassandra is the equivelant of the dreaded dropbear and he's snared! "Ack!" he yelps as he moves to break free - and this may be the first time that Cass may get a display of how strong the Spider actually is, despite his lean build.
- Cassandra Cain has posed:
"There are four different villains who regularly turn up with electrical powers, and the Joker likes to use a lethal 'buzzer'. High voltage is a common risk." Hey, she was talking from behind him, but it wasn't sweet nothings whispered in his ear!
Oh. He was strong. VERY strong. The sort of strong where only the akwardness of her being on his back might slow him down...but when he managed to get a grip on her leg or arms? Well, he'd be able to pull her off or throw her free and the only way to stop that would be to knock him out...or kill him.
Neither was really an option.
- Miles Morales has posed:
As she lays out the whole thing, Miles considers for a moment. Yes. He could probably pry the Bat off of him. But that wasn't the point of the exercise. The point was that she was supposed to catch him.
And catch him, she has.
A pair of taps of his hand against Cass's outer thigh mark his out as he stops trying to pull away from her. "You got me. And yes, I know I to continue fighting if this was real."
- Cassandra Cain has posed:
"This fight wouldn't be over," she speaks softly, though the squeeze of her noticably lesser strength lessons now as she simply drops her chin onto his shoulder, arms uncoiling from his throat to just hold on for the moment. "I knew you were faster and better than most at moving. You're stronger than you look. I would not be able to hold you down."
- Miles Morales has posed:
"You say the sweetest things." Miles' smirk can be heard through the mask, before he gives a little nod of his head. "Inside a space like this, I'm also at a disadvantage. You'd need a Batplane to keep up outdoors." he points out to her as he raises his hands to cover hers for a little squeeze.
"That's okay though, I'll cocoon you all up next time. Mua. Ha. Ha."
- Cassandra Cain has posed:
"Uh-huh." Cass muses, a little 'tap' of her chin against his shoulder at that 'threat'. Note to self, get some sort of web-dissolving counter-agent somewhere on her belt....who was she kidding, Babs or Bruce had probably already worked that one out.
"Maybe I should start carrying one of the web-shooters as a backup to my grapnel."
- Miles Morales has posed:
"Hey now, you start stealing my schtick..." Miles turns around in Cass's arms and for a moment, is really close to her. Good thing they both have masks on. It hides the sudden heat in his face quite well. "...I'll have to file a copyright and then we'd have to get attorneys and it'll be a big mess." A half step back to not be so close to Cass' personal space.
"Kidding aside, if anyone could probably get the hang of webslinging, it'd probably be you, but the OG Spider-Man told me once that our physiology was altered by the spider DNA to make it so we can handle flinging ourselves on a webline all willy-nilly."
- Cassandra Cain has posed:
"We've practiced it, but even a gymnast is not immune to inertia." Cass musses for the moment as they finally untangle and then she gestures with a little sweep of her hand, trying to clear the lingering smoke.
"Maybe some sort of grenade...I have seen the batman use a 'glue grenade' before. And you make similar of webbing..."
A shrug, he'd see it: the concious effort to avoid going down the rabbithole of thinking only of 'work'.
- Miles Morales has posed:
And he latches right onto it. "Webbomb." Miles explains, before he considers, reaching up and taps one finger against Cassandra's chin for a moment. "Well, you won. So, you get to name what you want to do as a prize." he explains with a firm nod of his head.
"And it can't be patrol. And it can't be training." There's a firm nod of Miles' head. "So, what ya got?"
